So I bought these when I launched out to do a classic car restoration. It was my excuse to buy them to have a smaller drill and have a impact driver which I didn’t have. I tell you what I have thrown everything at these tools and they have handled like a champ, especially the drill. I have used the drill tons with a wire brush attachment to remove pounds of rust off the thing and it keeps on working. I’ve drilled out countless broken bolts and it keeps going. I use it for random projects around the house and it keeps working. I have been rough with this little guy and he keeps on ticking. I like how lightweight and compact they are. They fit in areas where a 20 v wouldn’t. They are well balanced and comfortable to use. Highly recommend this product. Running a wire brush on the drill wide open I get 20-30 min of life out of a battery which is great. I don’t stop at all during that time.

The XTREME 12V MAX combot kit is the perfect combination of power, weight, and price in my opinion. The impact driver can effortlessly send 3in+ screws into hardwoods without bogging down. It also features a very hand, very bright ring light around the chuck for seeing what your doing. The compact size makes it perfect for installation work in cramped spaces. The "screw" setting also works great for keeping fasteners from stripping out, especially the cheap screws most fixtures and appliances come with. As for the drill it's also great at getting into small spaces. It is a little anemic with the included 2AH battery but if you use for example a 5AH battery it can really put out some torque and speed. The drill also features a light located on the bottom near the ... MoreThe XTREME 12V MAX combot kit is the perfect combination of power, weight, and price in my opinion. Overall I'm quite impressed with the XTREME 12v drill and driver. They are a great answer to competitors 12v compact lines, DeWalt came out swinging so to speak. Also, the batteries being fully compatible with 20v chargers makes adopting a new battery format a lot easier especially if you already have DeWalt 20v chargers.

This is an amazing deal for the 12v Max line of Dewalt's Impact and Drill. You get 2 batteries(2Ah)with built in power remaining gauge. A great charger and Dewalt carry bag. These are both Brushless Cordless tools and while only 12V they provide a good deal more power then the 18v line ever did. The drill, if you're not careful can swing around and twist your wrist like corded drills will. Even at 12v it has the torque to do just about anything you need. The impact has the best lights hands down in its class and like the drill is very easy to grip and use because they are surprisingly light. Dewalt's ergonomics are the best. I own the newest Milwaukee M12 Brushless drill and impact too and while they are both a bit more powerful they're also noticeably bulky and heavier and the lights aren't up to par with Dewalt's. The M12 is line more compact but the Dewalt's are not far behind. This is by far the best Dewalt 12v drill/impact kit out there by far and they get the most use out of all my power drills and impacts. I have the Dewalt 20v XR 887 impact and 20v XR 796 hammer-drill but they stay in the carry case 90% of the time. I also own the newest Brushless Milwaukee M18 hammer drill and Impact kit but haven't busted them out in weeks since I got the M12 tools. 90% of the time contractor grade brushless 12v drivers will do the job. The Brushless technology is just a whole-nother level of torque and power when coupled with Lithium battery technology. The only short coming I can think of is Dewalt's 12v drill has a 3/8th's" chuck while the Milwaukee is a 1/2". This shouldn't matter for most people but if it does then you're stuck. Overall, the Dewalt set is cheaper and just about on par with Milwaukee's more expensive set.

I bought this kit after seeing rave reviews for it. I already own several 20V Max tools including the DCD708, 771 and 996 drills as well as the DCF787 and 885 impact drivers. I also own a well-loved DCD710 12V drill which was my first DeWalt power tool. Right out of the box I could tell that these were a major step up from the old 12V line. They have excellent fit and finish and are clearly modeled after the 20V brushless versions, but are very light and compact by comparison.I haven't used the DCD701 heavily but I can say that it is very comparable to the 20V Atomic version and blows the DCD710 out of the water in terms of compactness, power and runtime. For small and medium drilling and screwdriver jobs this should have no problem. Be aware that this drill has ... MoreI bought this kit after seeing rave reviews for it. For small and medium drilling and screwdriver jobs this should have no problem. Be aware that this drill has the smaller 3/8" chuck and not the larger 1/2" that the 20V drills have.I was a bit skeptical about how the DCF801 impact driver would compare to the larger 20V models. It completely blew me away; this little impact is every bit as powerful (maybe even slightly more so) than the 787 and 885 running on its tiny battery.Runtime is very good. It doesn't seem quite as good as the 20V models on comparable 2Ah batteries, but the 12V batteries charge much faster so it's not a huge deal. The included charger works with both 12V and 20V Max batteries and will charge the included batteries in less than 1 hour. Belt clips are also included for both tools. At the current bundled price of ~$149 this is a fantastic deal.
Good deal for the price. Compact enough for small hands and tight spaces, but still powerful. Driver's guidelight is clear and direct and stays on when the trigger lets up so you can check your work. Drill fits a wide range of tips, grips tightly, and is easy to change. Battery charger is only a couple hours at empty and lasts several high impact uses. Holds charge when not in use as well.
I have used the 12V Drill for a long time and decided to upgrade to the new Brushless version.I found a great price at Lowes for the "DEWALT - XTREME 12V MAX* Brushless Cordless Drill & Impact Driver Kit" and I am impressed. These two tools are the best things I have purchased in a long timeThe Drill - It is has a better feel, more balanced, the power is so much better delivering a solid low and high speeds that drilling and screwing with this tool is fast and efficient. The Torque Driver - Actually mu first battery operated Driver, the first time I used it on my Tractor in the field to remove panels so I could replace a broken hydraulic hose, I couldn't believe the power. All bolts were removed with any trouble, a few bangs from the Driver and everything was loose and removed fast. This is the best tool for field work, nothing appears to stop it on my Tractor.Together I can not think of better tools I have purchased, well maybe my DeWalt Table Saw, that too is a great tool, as all DeWalt Tools are, Corded or Battery Operated.Thank you DeWalt for providing not only great tools but great updated tool that perform far beyond anything I could have thought possible, especially for tools this size.Luv the size, the power, the balance, the feel, everything about this package is plus, plus, plus !
Boy, these tools are very light, and have quite the torque for only 12V tools. Both fit perfectly in my XL size hands. For me, they have a better all around grip than my other 12V tools that have the cylindrical batteries within the handle. Both tools have impressive speed balanced with impressive torque. I am very happy to have picked these up from Acme. I have 18V, 20V, and other 12V tools but somehow Dewalt knows how to engineer tools with proper ergonomics. I find myself having to go to the full size cordless tools less frequently. This combo kit goes perfectly with my Dewalt cordless screwdriver I bought a few months ago. They have become three of my favorite tools at home. I just work on my house on DIY jobs and I'd say these Xtreme 12V tools are perfect for that.
The reason for only 1 star is because the Precision mode on the impact driver (DCF801) simply does not work. I've seen that other people are experiencing the same issue. I have this tool's big brother (DCF887) and the Precision mode on that tool works great. I was looking forward to the same functionality on this smaller/lighter 12V tool, but Precision Mode flat out does not work.Precision mode on this 12v Xtreme 1/4" impact will drive a tiny #8 3/4" screw about 3/8" into a pine two by four and it simply stalls out. The impacts that you would expect after the tool encounters resistance never come. I noticed that all the other reviews are part of a "promotion." I paid for my tool and I'm disappointed with the Precision mode being essentially useless.I would ... MoreThe reason for only 1 star is because the Precision mode on the impact driver (DCF801) simply does not work. I was a little skeptical buying the 12v but after reading the reviews and seeing it was brushless, I decided to go for it (Plus I got a great deal on it during the 2021 black Friday sale). After using several types of drills over the years, this is the only drill a homeowner would ever need. I've completed a few projects with this set and the power, battery life, and overall performance is way more than I expected. Plus the added bonus of being lightweight and more maneuverable than a larger 20V. Highly highly recommend!
I bought these to swap out my Dewalt 20V's from my networking/cable back pack. What a revelation. They are so much lighter and easier to work with between studs and in tight spaces than the bigger sibling. I drill a lot of 1/2 holes in metal studs to mount flat screens in commercial settings and these do the trick no problem. They also run a good bit quieter which is great when working in live office environs. 100% would recommend, plan on getting a second set for my other work vehicle.
