Well, for some reason it has been a few years since I bought a pair of regular old straight leg old-fashioned blue jeans from Dickies. I guess in one big way, that is an endorsement of the durability and longevity of the darn things. Because it is certainly not because I don't wear them. I do. Even though I'm pushing 70. Like Waylon Jennings sang... "now I'm over 40 and still wearin jeans". The old ones fit perfectly. A little tight when I pulled 'em out of the dryer, but stretched comfortably into shape within hours. God bless 'em. And these new ones? Well, I reduced the waist size by one inch in accordance with my decreased weight over these intervening years. Solid move! They were a little tight out of the dryer. They are like the rebirth of an old friend. Welcome back!

The carpenter pants I bought must have been pulled out of the reject pile. Doesn't anyone check for quality? The areas above the front pockets were not constructed properly. The material was sewn on crocked or too much was used. It is bulging and crooked. Also, there is so much excess material in the thighs, I could probably fit both of my legs into one pant leg. These pants were made terrible. I am so disappointed. I don't dare risk purchasing from your company again.

I ordered six pairs of the Relaxed Fit Sanded Duck Carpenter pants that were all nominally the same size (32W x 30L), but in reality only two of the six pairs fit properly. Another two were so tight I couldn't put them on. Additionally, the stitching around the waist was irregular and messy, with a few stitches that actually ran off the material in places. I buy these pants often and the quality has tanked since my last purchase over a year ago. I hope Dickies institutes better quality control because until now, their pants have been well made and durable. Two Stars for the two pair of pants I kept. Do better.

Dickie's is my first choice (ONLY choice, to be frank) for jeans. I buy carpenter jeans because the extra pockets on the right leg are useful, especially to slip in a cell phone and a pocket knife. These trousers are both sturdy and a real value. The denim ones are a great fit for my body type and activity level and are super comfortable, and the canvas duck ones (I like the extra colors) wear like iron. I just bought three more pairs. My 97-years-old mother-in-law says they look great, and my little cat likes them, too, and regularly sharpens his claws on my trouser legs. They are that tough!
Quality control is nonexistent! Have Ordered 2 pairs of pants the same size 3 different times and the waist is different widths ON EVERY PAIR!! A difference of between 1/4" to a full 1" in size when all are laid out with the sides lined up and only 2 of the pairs fit kind of comfortably, although a bit more snug than I would like! Now this new order I went up just 1 size to see if it would make a difference in comfort and they are so big I can literally pull them off with the zipper and button still fastened! On top of all with that the 2 pairs I can wear the front pickets are so narrow I can barely get my hand into them to get my keys out while the other pairs, that are all smaller than the label says they are, have nice wide openings in the pockets! Wore one pair ... MoreQuality control is nonexistent! Have Ordered 2 pairs of pants the same size 3 different times and the waist is different widths ON EVERY PAIR!! Wore one pair about 3 times and the 4th time the crotch ripped out when I kneeled down, but not much of a surprise there since the material they are made from is so thin you can practically read through them! WILL NOT BE BUYING DICKIES PAINTERS PANTS AGAIN! IT'S WORTH THE EXTRA COST TO PAY MORE FOR BETTER QUALITY CONTROL AND HEAVIER DUTY MATERIAL THAT ACTUALLY LASTS LONG ENOUGH TO LAST MORE THAN A SINGLE WEEK OF USE!!!!
Pros: No synthetic fibers, durable duck canvas.Cons: Tight fit for rated waist size. Front pockets are undersized, difficult to fit hand in when I have my EDC knife clipped to pocket or when sitting down. Internal dimensions of pocket could be extended toward middle of pant for added room. Bought two pairs and the pocket in one had a large hole at lower stich line within a couple weeks. The zipper fly feels like it could be minimum 1/2" longer to provide more room when used.Design recommendations: Longer zip fly or even a button fly, riveted corners for the tool pockets and hammer loop, riveted belt loops. Reinforced front pockets (internally and at areas where tools could be clipped). Integral suspender provisions.
Look I have long legs. So pants are important to me and the way they fit and hold up under tough working conditions is imperative. They hold on pretty well the wood glue and other various adhesives that I get on my pants typically wash out (like 70%) which is fine. My only complaint is that the hammer loop won’t hold my hammer securely while I’m walking about doing my thing. Bit of a let down but overall great comfortable breathable pants. Great for hot days. And on cold days I wear sweats underneath.
I purchased these carpenter jeans under the impression they were your old red tab carpenter jeans with tapered legs. I loved those jeans! Apparently you quit making those jeans and only offer the straight leg carpenter jeans that have a blue or black tag on the rear pocket. You need to update your photo then! The photo of the jeans I ordered were that of the old red jeans. That is the only reason I ordered these. I do not like the ones I ordered! Too baggy and I hate straight legs! Did not feel like going thru the trouble of returning them. They're going either in the trash can or to GOODWILL! I'm done with Dickies!
The denim is a good weight. I was pleased at how quickly it came. This might sound a little odd but the fly is longer than most companies and the zipper is good and strong. Often companies cheap out on that feature because I suspect that per unit zippers are relatively expensive. I have two things I would wish different one is for the watch pocket to be a little broader. I carry an AAA flashlight and unlike the other Dickies pants I have it won’t lie flat in the pocket making me a little nervous about it working its way out. The second is that the pocket material is a bit light for work jeans. I really like the pocket down the right leg. A glasses case fits perfectly.
Lack of consistency and quality controlI usually purchase Dickies Painter's pants at other online outlets, with some success regarding size. I decided to try ordering, direct from Dickies. Received the product on time. Ordered White Painter's pants (WH1953). However, I received Natural Beige Utility pants. I ordered my usual size, but these are exceedingly tight. They were made in Bangladesh. I have six other pairs of DICKIES White Painter's pants, all the same size, all less than a year old; a few were made in Honduras (slightly tight), the others were made in Kenya (fit just right). I am disappointed with everything about this order.
