I used to take out, unravel and plug in the extension first. Then take out the lawnmower from the shed connect them both and then s5ar mowing, constantly stopping to flip the extension cable aside after every pass. 20 minutes overall. It now takes me 7 minutes, with Makita's powerful, lawnmower. very pleased.

Excellent, easy to use machine with long battery life. I've just had an operation on my right hand so my wife has had to take over the mowing for a while. She's found it easy to assemble and use, and so far it's tackled our modest front and back lawns. It does tend to clog a little when the grass is not completely dry but this can be quickly cleared by opening the flap on the grass collector. Overall, a very good buy.

Compared to my old (25yrs+) jhon deere 150cc 48cm blade self propelled:light , agile ( don’t mind if not self propelled because it’s soo light), the body is made of plastic which means it will not rusts/ oxidised falling to pieces in within the years but it could, under uv light being subject to deterioration. I think is a good plastic hopefully it will last another 25yrs. My garden is on steep incline 15% , 20 meters by 8, i used 1 battery 4amps (18v) and a little bit of a second ones 4amps battery. Probably for a full cut of long and wet grass it will take 2x18v 5amps i will have to wait tho, no rain no grass!I must say that the suction is a very big factor, what a big petrol engine can cut a little 18v can’t for sure. If my jhon deere was filling the grass bag entirely ( almost compressing the grass in its bag) 2 times for a normal cut, this little makita fills up quite quickly (never filled the bag entirely and surely does not compress the grass like jonny) and i have to empty it more times(8-10)… basically i can’t walk the mowers at the same speed while cutting. But I don’t mind as my garden isn’t so big and overall getting my jd out of the shed and setting up it takes looongeeer than handling this light makita. Love both of them

Well I was surprised with this mower when it came.A lot more than I was expecting and quality, build, I know makia tools are good, but this surpassed what I was expecting .I have a few makita tools so didn't need a battery as I have a few already .I only have a small garden ,and the battery hardly dropped in power.the cut was loverly, grass box soon filled up as lesser power than mechanical mowers but when I was mowing you thought it had plenty of power myself and it cut the grass loverly I'd definitely rate this and recommend if you got a large lawn I'd suggest the more powerful 36 volt but this does what it says on the label so well chuffed thanks again ffx great product great price excellent service

Fantastic lawnmower. As supplied the cutting blades were quite blunt for safety reasons. Had these removed for sharpening in a V-notch knife sharpener and managed to cut 50 square meters of 12 inch high overgrown lawn in four passes with 50% charge of a 5Ah Makita 18V battery remaining, and grass levelled to 50mm. Like the easy cutting height adjusting lever that starts at level 8 or 75 mm. Battery powered means no mains lead to move out the way or worrying about accidental chopping.

Good little lawnmower, I used it straight away with 4amph battery fully charged, it completed all my three lawns and only run out on a wild patch I tried to mow.Was surprised how well it done really. This should be safer as wife cut wire with our last electric mower, good job I always have a breaker connected.Would recommend for small to medium size garden

As with all my Makita products they are well designed and manufactured. The lawnmower, cuts the grass well and with a small area 30sqm the 5Ah battery still has 2 bars left. This product would complements anyone with the 18v LXT system. The lawnmower collapses into a small package and is easily stored. The best part, is that its quick and easily to assemble and put away. Brill on Grass, but would not recommend on thick brush - overgrown weeds such as brambles. Hope you find this useful.
