This is a great icebox which really does keep bag ice frozen for a few days depending upon conditions. I bought the basket that sits inside the top which is very handy. The 56L is pretty big and for my needs I probably could have gotten away with the size below but if I do go away for a week or so this would be amply big enough to hold a lot of food particularly with a frozen block of ice. I reckon a block of ice would last a week, its insulation is so good. This size is quite heavy and takes up a fair bit of room in the SUV but all in all I am very glad I bought it.

I purchased a Dometic 87 L cool ice box from Myaree Nov 25 2020, yesterday. For some reason all the stickers were missing going through checkout. When I returned home and removing item from car, I noticed the lid wasn't closing correctly. On further investigation it was noted the lid was badly bowed, therefore not getting a seal. I returned this item to your Belmont branch and they agreed the lid was bowed. I feel this item was a return to your store at Myaree and returned to the shelf for resale. This has put a real damper on me to purchase any other products from any of your stores. Never underestimate the power of Media in its present form. It a very powerful tool.

Solidly built and great size. Took it camping and fishing over a 4 night / 3 day trip. Kept things cold and bag of ice hadn’t fully melted but that was using a full layer of frozen drinks / meat on the bottom, salads, eggs, dairy etc in the middle layer and bag of ice on top. It was left in the boat and covered with a towel when not in use. Daily temperatures were averaging 28 degrees. Doubled as a table / seat in centre back of the 4.5M boat. Make sure you drain it at least once daily or else - water comes out freezing cold. The ice bag melted 2 days after we got home probably because it wasn’t drained. Would be nice if they made these with wheels and a handle as an add on option as there is quite some weight when fully loaded. Worth the club price paid.

Got this for Xmas get together. Day 1 had 4 bags of ice, lasted for just over 1 day, kept replacing ice. Took back to BCF, and they identified an issue of unit not sealing. Returned box, and now waiting for replacement, at least 1 month lead time. They did offer other sizes that were in stock. BCF staff were great to deal with. Obviously just got a faulty unit
It is the one to buy. We were going to by another brand that labels your food to stay cold for days. Well this is why we chose the Dometic brand. It also keeps your food cold for 5-7 days, the water outlet is much better positioned for all the water to pour out and most importantly this icebox has a black seal to keep the cold in! We tried it this week while away for the first time and still had frozen food and iceblocks after several days. 56L is a great size and don’t forget to purchase the basket tray. A must buy.
Great for outdoor use , keeps everything cold for days. If you only open Lid infrequent, last even longer. I bought the divider as well . Good option. Good shape, handles are good and fold away and is robust.I use other Chilly bins for frequent and use this one for storage. A good size, not too big.
Overall: Great quality and sturdy, will surely last years. Accessories are great but overpriced. The divider would be better if it were also an ice brick. Cannot verify claims for 10 days of ice, my tests haven't made it past 2-3 days so far but perhaps I could pack differently/use better ice packs etc. Definitely recommend pre-cooling prior to use. I'm rating 4/5 because the quality is so good that I think I can get better performance out of it. Good: + Great build, very sturdy, solid. + Well-thought design eg tie down points, solid handles make carrying much easier, hinges are really solid and integrated. Looks like it would last decades if taken care of. + Accessories like the food tray and divider are excellent, one of the only brands to offer them. Looks like it would last decades if taken care of. + Accessories like the food tray and divider are excellent, one of the only brands to offer them. Bad: - Can't verify claim for up to 10 days of ice. I tested a few ice bricks along with some ice cubes, ice lasted 1.5 days, ice bricks 3 days. It was 30 degrees so pretty hot, but the ice box was under cover. Perhaps filling it to full would help, I'll retest with a whole bag of ice and ice bricks. I also tested reusable sheets of "dry ice", which are a new product and made in Aus. They claimed to last days...they lasted one day in the ice box, but that could just be a crap product vs the Ice box. - Accessories are expensive. The food tray is worth it, the plastic divider is just a hollow piece of plastic- not sure why it doesn't double as an ice brick! I will be drilling a hole to make it an ice brick. Note the divider fits only one way, I've seen some people complain that it warps- that's because it's upside down. - Can't use the food tray with the divider (at least in this model unsure of others), so choose which one you prefer and save some money. - The square shape of the 55L is a bit awkward to carry, especially full, but the handles are excellent and that helps. Rectangular feels easier to carry and seems more convenient when using the divider as you get a longer, more shallow space. - No wheels. I don't know if I could carry this ice box full. But perhaps that's because they market them as seats too, and you wouldn't want a wheeled ice box on a boat or anything, but I would prefer wheels on more models and not just the largest.
We took it to a 3-day camping where it got down to -4 degrees. We placed it under shade the whole time, and opened as many times as we needed. I kept most of the ice at the bottom with the frozen food and kept those that needed to be melt on top, which worked out really good. My husband accidentally put some room temperature onions in the esky and I found them frozen when we got home - must’ve been cold in the esky. So when we got home, there wasn’t too much water and still had plenty of ice left (we started with one bag of ice). It’s so sturdy, we used it as a quick seat too while chopping something. I would probably get either the large tray or the divider so I can manage food inside better.By the way, the delivery by Snowys and Toll was insane. I bought this cooler based on the previous reviews however I don't believe they are genuine. First camping trip it was stored in the shade in moderate 26deg max temp and had to keep buying ice every day, though the slush was just cold enough for drinks only. Used it indoors in an Air Conditioned room about 24deg and the ice was 90% cold slush within 48hrs. It was opened a few times on xmas day as expected but the rate of ice melt was very disappointing for indoor use. There is no way this unit will keep items cold for multiple days when camping in summer unless you start with massive ice bricks like frozen 2l milk jugs. At the end of they day it does the job as a single day esky but be aware that ice topup will be required every day with outdoor usage and you'll be ... MoreI bought this cooler based on the previous reviews however I don't believe they are genuine. Our Cool Ice Heavy Duty bin has been used extensively over summer. It has travelled far and wide in the back of vehicles and on a boat. As expected it has taken a beating and still looks as good as when it arrived. It is a strong, chunky piece of work.It has stood up to claims of keeping ice cooler for longer. It was recently used as a beer fridge on one of Auckland's hottest days and it was great not having to constantly empty out water and refill with ice.If you need a robust chilly bin that keeps stuff cooler for longer this is a strong candidate.
