buy with caution
I love platforms and doc martens so I thought this would be a great match. The shoes loose 1 star for blisters. I got crazy bad blisters on my heels the first time I wore them on an errand. It looses another star because it takes time to break them in. I bought a foot expander to help, which it partially did, but I still can’t wear them out on an errand or for like a 10 minute walk. I may purchase Doc Martens’s shoe wax to soften the heels. I don’t know what to do next but I’m determined to wear these shoes.... Show more

Disappointing
The 1461 shoes are normally really a relief for me. One of the few types of shoes that would instantly fit like a glove. Usually size 43 would always fit, no matter what type of 1461 I would try. But these were a straight disappointment. The material is really stiff. The shoes didn't feel authentic to me. They felt more like a cheap ripp off and looked like a good 1461 copy. And therefore they are way too expensive. To me it comes across as if Dr Martens has become too popular and now they can't guarantee the quality they offered in the past, but still charge too large amounts. Especially considering the country(s) where the shoes are fabricated. Maybe I am going to try the Ambassadors but after that I am certainly done.... Show more

EXPENSIVE SHOES WITH CHEAP PACKAGING
I received my husband’s shoes today, a christmas gift for him. The shoes were not on sale, I paid the full price…but they arrived in a brown nordstrom shipping box, that’s it! They looked like they came from a clearance rack…where is the original Dr Martens shoe box? They were just thrown inside a big box with nothing to protect them during transit. The shoes did not have any tissue paper stuffing or tissue paper wrapping for protection. So disappointed! Well this is not the first time receiving a cheaply packaged item from Nordstrom, but a full-priced item without it’s own shoe box is a big turn-off. Not acceptable, returning tomorrow!!!... For work
I am a automotive mechanic so you know the environment these shoes are in every day. The main reason I ware these shoes is the style and the look of professionalism. The reason for the english made one's is the quality. The welting and leather is superior to any other work shoe. The tread on the sole does hold up well with all the pivoting and walking on the rough concrete. They pass the wite sock test even after a year, I go big on the size because I use orthofeet insols. I have not had a shoe that out performs or is more comfortable.... Show more

Great all rounder
Lovely style shoes!Docs always feel such good quality, like they’ll last forever. The iced outsole is cool, different to anything I’ve seen before. I think I’ll prefer them when the sole is a bit dirtier, although it’s not too bright at all which I was expecting from the picture.Very comfy bottoms. The backs rub a bit, but I expect this from any shoe until they soften a bit.I love how Docs are actually foot shaped. Rather than trying to force your foot to be narrow at the toes, they give them room to move, but support everywhere they need to.I got them in the sale, which was great, but they’re definitely worth the full price.Very pleased!... I’m indecisive, I love these!
My final options when deciding were the 8053 smooth leather platforms, the Audrick Nappa leather platforms, the 1461 Bex squared toe oxfords, and these (the 1461 smooth leather platforms), all in black. I decided on the 1461 smooth leather platforms because of design preference, versatility (in my opinion they are less casual than the Audrick Nappa and more causal than the 8053, which I liked), photo reviews, lack of reviews on some of the other styles, and not wanting the square toe for a first pair. These are great! I’ve gradually worked my way up to wearing more often; no blisters or issues except for some heal pain once after standing on my feet for awhile. (Important to note, I haven’t had any blister/skin issues, but I don’t typically blister easily). I love ... I love the platform but don’t feel like they’re too huge, it’s the perfect height. They run bigger, like most people say. I’m a size 7, these as a 7 slide on my heel as I walk (doubling socks helps a little). The Bethan styled had fit true to size despite reviews that they ran big, so I went with my size for these too, but I wish I sized down.I originally purchased the Bethan platforms; those did fit true to my size (7) and I love how they fit/looked (photo included). I returned them to get a style more like the 1461s, and I’m happy I did.... Show more

I use them for work.
I use my 1461's for work. HVAC. Being summer they are cooler than the full size 1460. They required minimal break in. Got a hot spot on my heel at the top of shoe after about 4 hours. Swapped to a broken in 1460. Did this maybe 2 more times and can now wear them all day. This is my first pair of 1461. I debated not going MIE to see how l liked the cheaper ones in case they were not for me. I'm very pleased with the MIE. I am going to purchase another pair to not wear to work. I'm 50 years old and have been wearing Dr.Martens since High school. Size 10 always. Dont ever need to try them on. Always fit proper. Still love them after all these years.... Show more

Nice shoe, uncomfortable
These are true to size. I usually wear a 9 in men. I ordered a size 9 and it is a perfect fit. Like the other reviews stated, these will need to be broken in. These tongue on this shoe is very stiff and cuts into the top of my foot making it very painful to walk. I will try the double sock break in method and see if that works. My right shoe has a crease already and only wore these once. This is a nice shoe overall, but very uncomfortable. I will give them a chance and not return them.... Show more

Pain-inflicting shoes of my dreams
So I've always wanted Martens shoes, but could never buy them for multiple reasons. And now I have these beauties.I've ordered a 1 size bigger, since I was afraid they'd be too tight. I could've easily fit in my size. 1 size bigger is a bit loose, but still wearable, especially when wearing socks.I only wore them once, but they destroyed my feet badly. Will see if I manage to stretch them out.... Show more

Quality has changed
I’ve owned this exact pair for a little over a year now. I ordered a size up and they were far too big so I never got to wear them. I finally ordered the right size and they fit perfectly. Not much breaking in after bending the heel part back and forth so it wasn’t so stiff, I highly recommend trying that! I immediately noticed as soon as I opened the box the quality was different. The stitching, shape, feel, color/sheen, leather fabric used is different, thinner and cheaper looking. I was very surprised to see this as Dr. Marten has always been a high quality reputable brand and I have a huge collection. Over the past year the brand has become more popular once again, which usually means the quality will lower meaning more income since so many people believe in the ...
