The mechanism at the bottom meant to lock and unlock when closed and open is complete crap. Its just a metal dowel that locks when it's near the magnet and the spring is supposed to push the dowel back when you move it away from the magnet.The spring doesn't work. It's not the right size and it has no strength. Picture one show that the gate is permanently locked because the spring is not strong enough to move the metal dowel from the away from the magnet.Picture 2 shows what happens when you try to open it. The plastic piece breaks off and the down gets shot back into he frame. I read through baby gate reviews for hours and finally settled on this one. Purchased as a Christmas gift for my sister and her husband just attempted to assemble it for an entire day and finally gave up. Unfortunately I am past the return window so I feel terrible, but the gate is terrible quality, screws are loose, the functionality of it is just plain dumb and I hope anyone reading my review will look past all of the 5 star reviews to save your time and money on this baby gate. Very disappointed.

I bought this gate so I could use it to block off the stairs. I refuse to drill into the stair banister so I thought this would be a nice suspension gate that also looks modern. It is finicky to line up and set up, and then the slightest pressure would knock it out of place. I think it would work better if you can drill the holders into the wall or buy baby gate protectors.
love the magnetic locking for extra peace of mind - the colour lock indicator is a huge bonus. the gate is of good quality and feels sturdy. The only issue we had was the gate not able to extend far enough into the 'stay open' position because it bumped up again an adjacent window. Be aware you need over 90 degrees of clearance in the open position for the gate to pop into the "stay open" position. We turned the gate around the other way to allow it to extend further. it gets in the way a bit this way but we dont mind as the quality surpasses other gated we've tried.

We also needed two for both ends of our stairs. We decided on the Chelsea gate based on height and strength. The gates arrived in perfect condition and nicely packaged. I knew that I would have to make some adjustments due to the staircase handrails, no fault by Dreambaby. For the bottom of the stairs I had to remove a piece of molding and the handrail, which I easily recut and re-installed the handrail. The gate installed just as detailed in the instructions. I'm only giving this a 3 star rating because there is no 3.5. We love the gate but wish there were more color and finish options other than black or white. I really like how easy the gate is to open since the latch does not require a multitude of ways you have to push/press it to open it...just push the latch forward, lift the door up and push outwards. Also, the child can not climb out of this gate since the gate has vertical bars as its nearly impossible for a child to get traction that way. The gate itself is a perfect height...I'm 5'3 and it stops at my waist. I am able to open and close the gate with one hand and not have any trouble. The Boston Xtra tall self cosing gate by Dreambaby was just what our home needed! Our house has very small room and the.kitchen is very slim so it is very dangerous to have children and pets running through while we are trying to cook, put dishes away or really any chore. The gate was super easy to install and fit perfectly in the doorway to the kitchen. It required few tools and included all hardware. I am so impressed with the ease of use to this gate. Easy for an adult to open and close and tbe auto shut and.lock is awesone. It kept our daughter and two large dogs out of the kitchen when we needed it to. High quality construction and it is very stylish. Will definitely tell my friends.
