Dreambaby Hallway Security Gate - White

[This review was collected as part of a promotion. ] Love our black Chelsea gate with extension for our large open lounge room door space. The black colour (there is an option of black or white) also goes with our home decor which is a plus! Great quality and finish on the gate and extension. Very handy how you can just make it as wide or narrow as you need with the optional extensions to suit different door spaces. The auto close is good as I don't need to remember if I've closed the gate. I also have a single gate (no extensions) on our laundry door which is very helpful to keep my daughter out of the room completely with the potential harmful chemicals there and also our kitten sleeps in there. Highly recommend

This gate is fantastic. It is easy to install and easy to use. You can push open forward, or pull in to open. I think it was designed and manufactured brilliantly. We bought it to stop our large Newfoundland dog from going up and down the basement stairs (too hard on him) and it has done the trick. As we still wanted the cats to be able to come up and down, we cut one of the spindles out in the middle for their access. The gate does not move about and fits snug. It really is wonderful.

Best gates for pets

Bought the Chelsea Extra Tall gates several years ago. Sorry I didn't write a review then. They are perfect. They kept the dogs when they were pups in the room I wanted them in. Never fell over or wobbled. Still use them to keep the pets out of my dinning room and lounge. Funny thing, in addition to the 2 Goldens we have 3 cats who can easily scale the gates - nope, they mind the gates and don't even attempt to scale them. Highly recommend the DreamBaby gates.

I bought this a month ago for the upstairs landing. The gate extensions are perfect for my wider hall and the gate is so easy to install and use. It gives us peace of mind if we leave our very active 8 month old down for a few minutes that he is not going to head for the stairs.We had bought 2 of these gates about 6yrs ago and loved them so much we had to buy the same again, though was very disappointed that the gates are not the same anymore. They have an auto-close function for safety reasons, which is great when you have an active baby in the house. The function we loved so much and use all the time in our old gates is the stay open option (which is not there in our new gate :( ). The gate is quite loud to close especially if you let it auto-close, not ideal if you are walking around with a sleeping baby and trying to move through the gate to get to baby's bedroom to put them down for a nap, if the gate could stay open then you could get away like a ninja for that well needed cup of tea and not spend more time trying to get baby over again. Carrying washing baskets is another scenario where this option would be good as you cannot do this with 2 hands and get through the gate. I emailed the company but was informed the stay-open function had recently been taken away due to safety reasons and contradicted the auto-close function.The older gates we have been using for 6 years with our older daughter and dog, our daughter has been able to play in our livingroom whilst dog can be inside in the hallway. Will we keep this new gate for as long? I don't think so, it will do for now for safety reasons only, not practicality, hence the 2 star review (could have been 5 stars had it been the same gate as before)

High Quality Amazing Gate

We purchased this gate a month ago to replace another shorter gate (different brand) and so wish we had just gone with this one from the start! We have a very large 8 month old german shepherd puppy and he was able to push and eventually just jump over the other 750mm tall gate we had, but this one has really made our hallway a fortress. He doesn't even try to get over it. Very impressed with the quality of this gate compared to the other one as well; it is very heavy duty and has not moved at all since we installed it, but also has not left any marks on the wall and could be easily removed when we don't need it anymore. No need to tighten or shimmy it around, it's very secure, yet also so easy to open and close. Lightweight, easy to install gate that makes it easy to keep

It was time that I finally purchased a baby gate since my 1 year old has started exploring the house more. I wanted to keep him safe while also providing a way for the rest of the family to move freely through the rest of the home so I purchased this gate by Dreambaby. Some of the great features this gate offers...that i love...is the auto close, smart stay open (you can do laundry and leave open at night without running into the gate), simple installation without the need for tools or hardware, EZY check indicator (red and green) shows you if the gate is locked (red) or unlocked (green) so there is no second guessing if the door is locked or if the tension on the gate is loose. The gate itself is 30.9 x 29.4 x 2.5 and weighs just 12 lbs. Included with the gate are 2 extensions, 4 tension knobs, 4 mounting cups, 4 adhesive pads, 4 screws and an instruction manual. This gate fits doorways, hallways, and stairways from 29.5" - 38". I really like how easy the gate is to open since the latch does not require a multitude of ways you have to push/press it to open it...just push the latch forward, lift the door up and push outwards. Also, the child can not climb out of this gate since the gate has vertical bars as its nearly impossible for a child to get traction that way. The gate itself is a perfect height...I'm 5'3 and it stops at my waist. I am able to open and close the gate with one hand and not have any trouble. A great solution for keeping my son safe while affording me the opportunity to get things done around the house. I was offered this product at a discounted rate in exchange for my honest opinion.

Satisfactory Product

I bought and installed this unit a week ago in my conservatory to keep my 8 Cavalier King Charles off a particular area. A well-constructed unit basically which I was using across a 130 cm distance. The only thing I did notice was the extensions connected to the main frame were bending slightly where they were connected by the pins. No big deal really as the unit felt quite rigid, but I would suggest that perhaps larger diameter pins would be better when using extensions to cover large distances. Satisfactory product.

This Gate System solves a difficult problem for us

We bought this system over a month ago to keep our large energetic dog in our kitchen and out of the rest of the house . It was about the only system we could find on the internet that was tall enough ( 1 meter or 3 feet 3 inches high ). She could easily jump over anything lower . We had a 10 feet wide opening into the family room to seal off and a 3 feet wide doorway into a dining room . We bought two gates and for the 10 feet gap two side extensions each 1 meter long . The one gate and two side extensions were very well engineered to adjust precisely to the 10 feet wide opening width . Once installed they are really very stable considering the width of the opening . The doorway opening required one gate and two very small side extensions of 3.5 inches each . The only suggestion as an improvement I can think of would be to make the actual opening width of the gates a bit greater if that was possible . They are quite serviceable as they are but would be a little more comfortable if they were a bit wider .Another factor I found very helpful was the customer service from tee-zed . I did my homework myself on their website to arrive at what I thought I should be ordering then I contacted them by phone . Right away I was able to speak with a representative who was very knowledgable about the product details , confirmed my work and promptly had the order taken and shipped out the next day.Overall I feel the product is very good value for the price paid .

Works as advertised

I have two homes and have bought several of these gates. My installations are difficult because one and sometimes both sides of the gate are iron bannister rails. With the gate adaptors (bought separately), installation was quite easy. When installing against a wall, you are supposed to use the "cups" provided, and this requires drilling a small hole into the wall. IMHO this is absolutely NOT necessary; I cut up a mouse pad and simply insterted a scrap of the pad where the installation post (or whatever it's called - the part that you screw tight and that holds the gate to the wall)- and it works just fine, not only to hold the thing in place but also to protect the wall or, when using the gate adaptors, the bannister rail.
