This is my 3rd Dremel product to die. This is my second Dremel rotary tool and one Dremel multimax. This Dremel would start and stop constantly while running. Sometimes it would do it fast enough that it was like running on slow speed. Other times it would stop completely. I ordered a new armature kit, but that did not help. I should have returned it the first day I used it because it would get so hot it was hard to hold. I found that by banging the side on the ground would make it work for about 5 minutes. Then it started requiring the beating more often. Ultimately it caught fire while I was using it. Looking for an alternative manufacture. This was my last Dremel purchase. Before any use, I am already out $5!The mandrel that you use to attach cutting wheels to the tool is poorly made. The screw in the mandrel was stuck and I needed a vice grip and a drill to remove it. I could see the crossthread lines - when I googled, I could see this is an extremely common issue.I was unable to screw the piece back into the mandrel head. I also found that the locking mechanism is also poorly made - many on Google had issues with the lock breaking when trying to solve this issue. I myself had difficulty actually keeping it locked and not slipping.I can't believe such an integral part of this tool has had the same exact issue in reviews stretching back 5+ years... I will be returning this item.

Dremel is OK. The blow molded case doesn't close because the left side latch just waves in the wind. Expected better for the price premium Dremel commands. This disappointment is no fault of Lowe's, or is it? This item was new-in-the-box in a locked cage located in the tool department. The associate said he would meet me at the register with the item which he did. Such are the times.

I've been using the Dremel to help sand the paint off of wooden chests that have intricate carved designs. The Dremel kit comes with a lot of accessories to get you started with any project. I bought the Dremel EZ402 lock mandrel separate, which comes in handing when changing accessories frequently. The corded version has good strength behind it; I never had to go over the middle setting.
I borrowed a Dremel for a wood working project and was amazed at the precision and versatility of this tool. Subsequently, I purchased a variable speed 3000 model at Lowe's and have since used it multiple times on wood, metal, plastic and glass. Successful projects have included polishing scratches from a watch crystal, converting a metal recliner chair handle with a circular attachment to a square attachment for use on a different brand recliner, using the right angle attachment to attach screws in a small. otherwise inaccessible space, etc, etc. The 3000 model is a high quality tool with easy to attach/remove mandrels. I wish I had invested in this tool years ago!!
This tool is amazing. It does everything from cutting to sanding extremely well. One thing is though that the cutting wheel does wear down after a lot of use so you should buy an extra pack of cutting wheels if that is what you are mainly going to be using it for. This is a great item
I'ved used a smaller dremel in the past but need something a little large. The dremel 3000 met the need. My arthritic hands can hold the weight of this tool as well as use the attachments without difficulty. Worked great for the outside cat houses i made.
I installed a cutting bit and started to cut some brass rods. After about 30 seconds the dremel stopped working. I removed the motor contacts and reinstalled them. When I turned it back on it worked fine. This unit does have good torque and is the perfect tool to use in small and precise cutting jobs. The set does come with some basic attachments to get you started however I also purchased an accessory kit to ensure I had the right and enough bits to do the jobs I need to get done.
Model 3000. I hardly used this the first time when the switch broke and since only used for an hour or two. It was repaired 3/28/2018 and I had to pay shipping. I took it apart this time and was shocked at the tiny plastic parts that look like a toy. This time the brushes got stuck in their slots so it quit running. I keep thinking of Woody in Toy Story saying "You are a toy" to Buzz Lightyear. I have a $10 Harbor Freight grinder that I use for hours on end and over hundreds of hours total and only replaced the power cord due to usage. I will never buy Dremel brand again!User's recommendation: Don't buy Dremel!
This is my 3rd Dremel. I don't think I am overly demanding or abusive in terms on my usage. The last one seized up after an extended "milling" of some wood on my custom barn door I built and I needed to recess a pocket for the handle hold. So I chalked that one up to "a lot of use" and moved on and bought my 3rd one, this Dremel 3000. This one DEFINITELY has not seen a lot of use, but the speed control intermittenly stops working. It will be at a given partial speed setting, then all of a sudden toggle to 100% on its own (not fun if you are doing delicate work). Also (not sure if this is related), but I am gettin a mild electric shock through the case (must be when I touch an electrically conductive exterior component that connects through to the inside).
