The DualSense’s new simple and sleek ergonomic design, improved touchpad, adaptive triggers and enhanced haptic feedback really make this controller wonderful to use for next-gen games. Sony has crafted an incredibly comfortable and snug controller to hold. Having a slightly wider size than the DualShock 4, the DualSense provides a better slip-free grip and can easily accommodate those with larger hands. The new built in microphone is actually decent and provides clear audio output for in-game party chats and can be used for everyday gaming without the need to purchase a headset although a headset would undoubtedly provide better audio clarity if needed. There is a small rectangular button beneath the speaker which allows the microphone to be easily muted as well as the speaker audio if required. I found the speaker’s audio quality to be sufficient for its usually limited uses within games. Probably the best feature of the controller is its adaptive triggers which are able to replicate senses such as the resistance from pulling a bow string or muscle tension from climbing rocks. Haptic feedback has improved as well which quickly adapts to different gaming environments. I really look forward to seeing game developers utilise these DualSense features in their upcoming games. Sony has gone for a simplistic yet captivating overall design for the DualSense. The PS button has a shiny metallic finish and allows quick access to home screen, game progress, power options, friends list, downloads and more customisable options. The ‘Share’ button from DualShock 4 has been renamed to a ‘Create’ button which essentially provides similar features to quickly share gaming footage, edit video clips, share screenshots, trophy achievements and start broadcasting. Also, the ‘Options’ button from DualShock 4 has now become the ‘Menu’ button and allows for easy access to a game or app’s setting options. The colour changing lightbar around the touchpad is quite sleek and subtle which complements the controller and the PS5’s design. It isn’t distracting to look at and displays the number of controllers connected to the PS5, in-game status, and the controller’s charging status. The touchpad itself has a very smooth surface and beautifully completes the controller’s aesthetic and has multiple game specific uses. I found the button keys to be responsive and they aren’t hard to press thus allowing easy play. The L3 and R3 keys have a ridged rubber grip on their circumference allowing for better grip and control; however I expect the rubber to degrade over a couple of years due to its quality thus I would recommend putting key grips for protection in the long run. The peripherals of the controller are the headphone jack at the bottom end to connect headphones and the USB-C input at the top end for charging the controller. During my time playing, a full charge lasted about 10 hours of continuous intensive use while up to 13 hours of casual or light use depending on the games being played. Overall I believe Sony has done an excellent job developing the DualSense controller. It is truly an impressive controller that feels and performs amazingly. The controller fits its name as it really does immerse the user in its sensory feedback which greatly defines its performance.

I purchased the Starlight Blue Dualsense controller to supplement the primary controller included with the PS5 as I have always liked having a second contoller for longer game sessions. As a PS4 owner I absolutely hated the DualShock controller after coming from the Xbox 360 controller - best controller made to this point, in my opinion - but the DualSense has been a bit of a revelation. I'll break down the "pros" and "cons" as I see them. Firstly, Pros: Ergonomics are easily the best of any first party PS controller to date and is very comfortable to use for extended periods; Fit and finish is very good with no rough or sharp edges and no creaks or rattles; Battery life is good as I've seen up to 20+ hours before getting the low battery warning; Charge times are ... Secondly, the Cons: Price. $95 + tax is just too much for a console controller, period; Durability and longevity are a concern as I've read and been told about significant issues with stick drift rendering controllers useless within a year; I've already noticed a change in button feel after only three months but can't say if this is simply break-in or a potential future issue; and, The controller mic is on by default which is a questionable privacy practice, in my opinion, but can be disabled via the console settings. Ultimately, you don't have many controller alternatives for PS5 unless you're willing to spend well over $200 for a third party controller from Scuf, etc so I can't say whether or not the DualSense controller is recommendation worthy or not. That said, if you need or want a new PS5 controller and are looking for something other than the customary black or white the Starlight Blue is an aesthetically pleasing first party option.
I actually bought this Open Box and I've been eyeing a PS5 controller for awhile since I tend to play games on my iPad. I don't have a PS5 console at all, but I debated between getting this controller or a PS4 controller due to the uncertainty if iOS supported DualSense. The controller itself is pretty great! I like the matte finish on it, the color, and the battery life works well. I was using it for about 3 hours straight while playing on my iPad and it was only after maybe around the third hour, it began to stop functioning for bit before needing to charge it again. Since I don't have a PS5 console, I can't say for sure what the quality is like there, but it would probably be about the same quality as when I play on my iPad. Since I don't have a PS5 console, I can't say for sure what the quality is like there, but it would probably be about the same quality as when I play on my iPad. The analog sticks are smooth as well as the buttons, and the feel is very ergonomic, probably compared to if I was using a PS4 controller, which is a bit smaller for my hands. I was having issues with my hands feel sore and numb after playing on iPad after awhile, so I decided to drop $60 (Open Box) and I haven't gone back to playing on my iPad the old-fashioned way. Overall, even if you don't have a PS5 console, but you think the controllers look aesthetically pleasing and tend to play games on your PC or iOS device, I highly recommend buying this controller.
The Dualsense is a very nice controller, the ergonomics and overall feel of the controller is overall nicer than the Dualshock 4. The buttons, sticks, size, and everything feels great and the battery life is a bit longer than the DS4 despite the haptics. The haptics also feel great and can add a lot of immersion depending on how the game uses it. When it's used well it's really cool, when it's not it dosen't really add much and can just make your fingers tired. Though the intensity of the haptics can be toned up or down, which is really nice. Ive been using the controller from this purchase for about 3 months. Overall, it's great but the jury's still out for me on the overall quality of the make. Ive been using the controller from this purchase for about 3 months. Overall, it's great but the jury's still out for me on the overall quality of the make. I had to get this controller as a replacement for the controller that came with my PS5 which only lasted 9 months before unplayable stick drift hit the right stick, this did happen during a storm that fried the charging cord (despite surge protection) so I think it's something that was caused by a power surge but there's still a chance this was a coincidence and stick drift may be an issue for this new controller. Hopefully not. I'm pretty caring of my controllers, In my 23 years of gaming, I've only had stick drift in 3 controllers. One of these three being the previously mentioned dualsense. So hopefully this dualsense lasts, but it remains to be seen if this is built better than the dualshock 4 in terms of longevity. That uncertainty is the only thing keeping it from 5 stars, as well as, the price. While it is a good controller, it is a bit expensive. Especially if the anolog stick drift wasnt caused by the storm and this controller ends up having stick drift. If the latter is the case than it is certainly not worth the price.
Grand Turismo is what got me into console gaming when the original PlayStation came out. I played that game for the better part of 2 years as a kid. I was ecstatic when I finally managed to get a PS5 so I could play GT7 “the way it was meant to be played”. I wish I’d just gotten it for PS4 some time ago.Unless there is something I’m missing, playing split screen in this game is pathetic. You get a very limited selection of playable cars, none from the cars you unlock/buy as you play the campaign. I have no desire to race my buddy in a stock Focus ST. If I did, I’d just do that in real life. And you have to have an internet connection to do a local multiplayer race. The big issue with this game for me is needing an internet connection in general to play anything ... And you have to have an internet connection to do a local multiplayer race. The big issue with this game for me is needing an internet connection in general to play anything aside from a very limited selection of cars in arcade races that don’t count for anything nor are recorded/saved.You cannot play ANY of the single player campaign without an internet connection. While this may not be an issue for most people, if you have spotty internet, you can literally be kicked out of a race seconds from finishing because your connection went out (and stayed out long enough to trigger that). This is extremely annoying when you’re on lap 20 of a 20 lap endurance race on the Nurbringer Ring. And why I only give this game 3 stars. The gameplay is generally good, the way they do the campaign is a bit silly, but if you really like cars and the history surrounding some classic and iconic cars, they do a decent job of giving you that. It doesn’t feel too grindy to make money and purchase ever better cars and upgrades. Just make sure you have solid internet when you go to play.
Just writing this to say that the color of the nova pink controller is not accurate in the advertising. The color is actually much closer to the cosmic red variant.Edit: After using the controller for roughly 300 hours of Rocket League, I have run into some issues. Comparing this to my previous controller, an XBOX One wireless, I can say the sticks feel worse. The thumb domes are convex instead of concave, for grip this seems inferior. The sticks are also more stiff, making slight adjustments feel a bit slower. I got somewhat used to this over time. The triggers are significantly stiffer and shorter, also not helping the precision, but not too bad. What got me to come back for this review is the TERRIBLE wireless performance. Whereas the XBOX controller did perfectly, with virtually no issues, the PS5 controller was consistently laggy and even lost connection multiple times per match, which happened much more frequently if the controller was held with any obstruction in the way. I'm going to have to plug it in or get a new controller. Either way, terrible.
One of the best driving games right out of the box. Absolutely no jerkiness or skipping anywhere - fluid is the operative word.PS5 controller is incredible, with steering set to angle of controller, it is super smooth and easy to control. Plenty of options for accelerator and brake - right stick was my choice. The feedback in the controller is impressive - running over curbs, can feel the rumble. The idea of sound from the controller is pretty unnecessary - starting beep is the only real sound from there.Graphics are so darn impressive. Lots of details around the tracks, road detail is impressive (easy to see wet and dry track and worn in driving line). Lots of details around the tracks, road detail is impressive (easy to see wet and dry track and worn in driving line). Cars can be customized in just about any way you can imagine (paint, wheels, spoilers, body kits), with go faster parts. And when on track or seeing that car anywhere, all those customized bits show up.The whole cafe with menu cards is fun to learn driving, the game, collecting cars, and getting money to buy more cars and upgrade parts (the things that really do make a car go faster). There's an amazing array of cars to choose from - Tesla Model S (2014 Signature Performance, including two colors only made for a very short time, green and brown) is even in there. Car detail is really well done. And they nail the car sound rather well - Tesla makes essentially no noise while running, just tire squeal. Although they got the torque curve and acceleration a bit off. But that's picking nits. This is a really fine racing game. I guess if you get heavy into it, racing at the way higher end and on line, a wheel and pedals might be necessary. But so far - I'm 39 cafe menus into the game - I don't feel the need for a wheel. There are a ton of things to adjust and tweak. In the beginning finding the right combination of controller assists is important, and then when to drop those assists as you get better at driving (there was even a point where the game told me to turn something off). Figuring out suspension tweaks has a very steep learning curve. The in game help screens are a bit confusing because the words don't translate exactly to a setting (the on line manual is a bit better at help).A really fun driving game, at some gorgeous tracks (not as many iconic tracks as I would like - a lot missing from the US), with incredibly beautiful cars, that helps you along to finally getting a super license for FIA racing.
This review follows from my original DualSense controller (that came with the PS5 on launch day) all of a sudden losing input on the down d-pad button, essentially forcing me to buy a new DualSense, since no one seems to want to fix it (and that includes Best Buy/Geek Squad). However, coming from the original launch day white model, I feel like this Midnight Black DualSense is a much better product. I believe there may be subtle tweaks that have been made in the newer color models (i.e., better trigger haptics, buttons being a bit clickier, etc.) that make it superior to the original, but I will also say that the color is great, and I prefer it to the white. While the black might not match how the original console looks (without black faceplates), it is a better color because it does not collect dirt/sweat/random hand secretions in the back textured crevices (at least that is visible). My big complaint with the original white was that no matter how clean your hands were, the back of the controller eventually got dirty. The black color seems to avoid this issue for the most part, and that alone makes it worth getting over the standard white. All in all, it's not a PlayStation without a nice black controller, and this one does the job very well. Hopefully the buttons will last on this one for longer than a year and a half.
