This bundle has so much to offer and will definitely be enhancing my table as I love props. The handouts, jewelry, and the planchet are all beautiful. The maps are clear and gorgeous. Normally I prefer to have the whole book (eschpeially those alternate covers) but this is one of the best ways to read the source book. The split up booklets make it easy to lend the character creation section to the players, find monsters quick, and flip through the various domains of dread easily as the booklet is labeled with which are in which of the 2 booklets focused on the domains. Really great buy and I can't wait to get my next package from the goblins at Beadle & Grimm.

This is a beautiful set as, I even had a damaged box and B&G sent me a new box to replace it all the way to the UK! The customer service is as always amazing. Thank youThe props and jewellery are gorgeous. Only reason I docked a star was the covers of my books were on the wrong books which had me confused for a while until I figured it out. If I could dock just quarter a star I would. Even so I would not hesitate to order any future B&G product the love and care is evident in every piece.I'm also have the Icewind Dale box which was insanely good. You won't be disappointed in any

This was one of the monsters I was most excited about in the book, and I am quite pleased with the miniature. Pre-painted miniatures usually aren't the best quality in comparison to something hand-painted, but this one ended up looking quite good. That said, I just wish it was a touch bigger. It's a Large creature and thus has a larger base, but the miniature looks more akin to a Medium creature. For example, I have a firbolg druid from Nolzur's Marvelous miniatures that is larger.

If you are a D&D 5E Dungeon Master like myself, you know soon as another world building book comes to the market, you have to purchase it immediately. Having thought the alternate cover was too busy graphically, I chose this time to purchase the other cover.Inside the book, DMs will find a variety of Gothic Horror themes (Ghost, Slasher, Dark Fantasy, and psychological) to build their Ravenloft campaign, populate with meaningful NPCs, and learn about how to establish rules for the Realm that often do not come with the Forgotten Realms or Eberron. For anyone who hasn't already purchased Curse of Strahd, the book contains some information about Barovia but you'll want to pick up your own copy of Curse for more details. The back of the book contains a decent amount ... MoreIf you are a D&D 5E Dungeon Master like myself, you know soon as another world building book comes to the market, you have to purchase it immediately. Here I am, AGAIN getting in the first review of an outstanding product from the infamous Beadle & Grimm's! I don't understand why there aren't pages upon pages of glowing reviews yet - but I'll take it and leave the first!Mine arrived today! Not even an hour ago, as a matter of fact. I dropped everything to delve into this eagerly awaited treasure. Let's get into it!The box is heavy for it's size. Getting it out of the bubble wrap, I'm greeted by beautifully foreboding artwork on the main box. I chose the Cosmic edition (...a nod to my affinity to everything Cthulhu). The cosmic tentacle design presents itself boldly as I grin helplessly. I stifle my anticipation as much as possible as I hear the faint sound of eerie whispers emanating from somewhere deep within ... MoreHere I am, AGAIN getting in the first review of an outstanding product from the infamous Beadle & Grimm's! Getting it out of the bubble wrap, I'm greeted by beautifully foreboding artwork on the main box. I chose the Cosmic edition (...a nod to my affinity to everything Cthulhu). The cosmic tentacle design presents itself boldly as I grin helplessly. I stifle my anticipation as much as possible as I hear the faint sound of eerie whispers emanating from somewhere deep within this striking box. I lift the lid and fear I may have released some cosmic entity from another plane as the air decompresses with an audible sigh. I am greeted by the dark melancholy of the first piece of artwork I see, a feather printed on some translucent paper shrouded in darkness. The paper feels amazing to the touch and tricks the mind as you realize you can peer THROUGH it (seriously nice touch, guys, how DID you do that)! Next comes the welcome letter, which is so much more than a letter. I'm touched by the warm greeting and enraptured by the detailed list of the contents held within this mystifying box set. Next, a few layers of bubble wrap (not exciting to some... but tremendously pleasing to others)(also worth noting it is the BIG, loud bubbles too!). I next look at the encounter cards. As a DM, I LOVE the encounter cards created for these Beadle & Grimm sets, they are so handy and add so much to the immersion, as I always run theater of the mind. Wonderful artwork on one side and stats on the other, these cards sit over the top of your DM screen.Next we see marvelous artwork cards and artifacts. I am engrossed by the detail on the raven amulet, which is heavy and incredibly well constructed. I must note that this item is packaged in such a way that the chain does not make contact with the amulet and is unable to scratch it up during transit. This is indicative of an incredible attention to detail and caring for the customer and how they receive the products. The ring has fine details, and is quite sturdy for being crafted in such a manner to be adjustable for different finger sizes. The planchette is flawless and stunning, the black and gold each conducive to enhancing the other. The center clear piece is crystal clear. Photos are unable to justice to this artifact. The Dread Tales from the Warehouse booklet contains within the amazing original Beadle & Grimm content, bonus adventures presented in a professional and remarkable fashion, each taking place in a different domain of dread. There are two player handouts, each aesthetically different, rolled and tied with twine. These are done extremely well and I love the texture of each and the artwork within.Following next is a pack which contains more player handouts, bonus artwork, battle maps, the spirit board (poster size!), and pre-generated player characters. I have to note here, that the wine labels are ACTUAL labels, they are adhesive and you can put them on bottles for even more immersion. The handouts are varying in paper type, style, and art. One is actually creased and stained and looks quite authentic! I'm extremely impressed with the superior caliber of these items. Following closely are the main adventure booklets, broken into chapters. I am grateful for the work done to break this down into parts as these artisans have done, as I imagine other DMs are as well. Last up in this mystifying box of cosmic horror and dread are the area, or domain, maps, each intricately detailed with exquisite artwork and sized perfectly for handing out. The folder of darkness that contains these maps boastfully displays the marks of horror on it's cover, beckoning to you to discover the mysterious contents within. To wrap up, you should have stopped reading a long time ago so you could go and buy your own! If you haven't, do it now. You will be immensely delighted with yourself. I cannot stress enough the value of these sets as the quality and attention to detail are unparalleled. The care, compassion, and altruism that is put into the products produced by Beadle & Grimm are blatantly obvious as you explore the product. This one is no different. So please, stop arguing with yourself internally and go buy your own now! Besides, arguing with yourself internally leaves you just standing (or sitting) there making weird faces.P.S. For those of you that read my Witchlight review, I did NOT sustain any cuts to my finger unboxing this set!
Ok for a source book it's a fine book.As for the dnd book of horror. It is not. For example (carnival domain of DREAD. It literally is just a carnival. NO KILLER CLOWNS. No house of horror. )How do you say book of horror yet include a friendly circus. Colorphobia aka the fear of clowns and what's worse 1 of the top phobias and top 10 horror troupes. And you only do friendly. This book has removed horror from horror. If you want a book for horror I would say skip this one.If you want a source book then you get 100+ new trinkets 2 new paths 20+ new magic items new monsters 1 new one shot adventure and 100+ new adventure ideas. It's has value as a source book.
Wizards just repeats the same material with each edition. Yes its a good read and well made. But nothing new. Did WOTC run out of imagination? Hire me and Ill create new material and NPCs and create a new success path for you people. How about the Demonomicon with a listing of all demons ever appearing in the game. 4e tried that book and only listed a few demons and useless material. Thats why this legendary creation is on the brink of extinction. A+ for quality C- for originality
Ravenloft is one of my favorite D&D settings. This book brings Ravenloft back in a major way to 5e. My only major critique is that I hate that they have removed alignments from monsters. Entities that are vile and wicked no longer have an alignment associated with them. Granted you can say it is CE or LE and go about your day, but for me seeing the alignment was a shorthand for me to determine how it would react in certain conditions. Will they uphold bargains? LE most likely will. CE, not so much. This is a minor issue, but it still gets my ire. Besides that though the book is a masterpiece.
This book was not on my radar. I mean, I saw that it was released, but didn't see why I should have any interest in it.Oh, was I wrong. It's no Xanathar's or S.C.A.G or Tasha's, with all their character options, but it does have a handful of races and subclasses that are interesting. The best part is just reading about all the different Domains of Dread. This book is FAR more engaging than it appears to be.It's nearly Halloween, so buy this book already and go write a spooky session for your players already!
Whether or not use the information for domains of dread or to incorporate into your world, the Silver Edition has you covered. The artifacts and handouts, even the B&G exclusive bonus encounters, are generic enough to be incorporated into any world. This one includes a deed to a manor similar to other adventures which players really seem to love. The amulet of the raven and the planchette are hefty. The included ring is a little adjustable which is nice. The pattern is wonderful for imprinting wax seals. As always the handouts are magnificent and the quality of all items top notch. Have always loved the included artwork, but tend to forget to bring them out. Usually end up sharing at the end of the session. So if you want to add horror to your current campaign, ... MoreWhether or not use the information for domains of dread or to incorporate into your world, the Silver Edition has you covered.
