WR250R, front and rear. I just got 3500 miles out of a set doing the NEBDR and MABDR, so about half dirt and half highway. Off road they're fantastic. Pack, gravel, grass, mud, rocks, sand, everything. Their biggest weakness is traction on rock (especially wet rock) due to the fairly hard compound. As you may have heard, the front does tend to wash a bit if you go into a turn too hot. Side note - I've also had the Pirelli MT21 on the front and it was dead before 1000 miles and scalloped horribly towards the end. On pavement the D606 magically allows you to drag your toes, which gets them a 6 star rating in my book. They've seen maybe twelve hours in the rain (pavement), and they do fine. You can still go faster than cars, but obviously dial it back a few notches.

I bought my XR650R very well used; (ridden hard/put away wet) and it came with completely worn out Dunlop D606 Front and Rear. Since then I've done a lot to restore its performance; and one thing I've noticed is that the original owner had really put all the right equipment on to begin with. These D606's are no exception. All my riding requires asphalt to get to the dirt. I've ridden in Baja, Arizona, Oregon, Utah, and all over my home State of Western Washington and the Cascade Mountains. I run them at 15psi and they seem to be great all around. I wish they'd last longer but then they wouldn't be as good offroad. I dont always like to park my van with all my belongings at the trailhead of some remote area to go for a rip. I wanted to blame it on a cactus but as it turned out it was my own fault for pinching the tube on installation. I replaced the tube with a Michelin Ultra Heavy Duty this time...I've found that the extra weight is better than a pinch flat and I don't even notice the weight. I for sure would reccomend the Dunlop D606 for the best all round 50/50 Dual Sport type tire. No doubt!-m-2001 HONDA XR650R--
I Cannot be happier with these tires.Had these installed on 22'KLR 650 And not only did the bike look Super Badass these tires are chew masters in the dirt,grass/ mud and on the higway i can rip NO problem full speed threw the corners and all; NOT a worry. As for wet pavement i didnt have an issue, obviously wasnt givin'r in the rainAlso i have put approx 2000km on these tires and have about half like left...This KLR combo'd with the Dunlop 606 well worth the price, and Sure save you from a spill. I bought these for an annual back-country excursion. In years past, I have used my 70-30 or even 80-20 (if they were new) tires, so naturally I was impressed with a more aggressive tire. We encountered sharp shale (range from small to 12" blocks), smooth river rock, coarse sharp granite, mud & deep water, lots of gravel, and some sand. It handled all well, and gave good grip in all conditions. Altogether we rode about 800km, and I will get one more such trip out of these tires. The photo shows the rear tire after the trip. Leading edge of the centre lug is rounded, and the lug depth is noticeably reduced. My brother was riding Metzeler MC360 Mid Soft on his Husqvarna 630, and his tires were completely destroyed by the trip.
4 stars because it does exactly what you expect it to do. I used to goof around with moto tires on my EXC 500 dual sport, Carcasses were too soft and knobbies too tall for road sections. Finally switched to a 606 front and it was good in the dirt and spectacular on the road sections and high speed gravel/fire road sections. Good stiff carcass, confidence inspiring on road. Certainly a compromise in the sand, but with the weight up front with my oversize tank and GPS, it is the best DS yet. Tested in Warner Valley/ Toquerville UT. St. George area.-m-2013 KTM 500 EXC--
D606 is a game changer for me. Loves the dirt. Runs the ruts. Holds on turns. Stable on pavement. Swapped out perfectly good OE tires that couldn't hold off road. Instantly made for a better and more confident ride. I can't recommend buying these tires for a DR650 enough.
Running the D606 Front on a Tenere 700, with Motoz Tractionator on rear. Hard-medium terrain typical of Eastern Ontario: limestone and granite rock, roots, babyheads, clay, rounded gravel, sand, mud, deep puddles, and crushed-stone gravel roads. Have run the D606 rear for years on my WR250R and consider it one of the best rear tire options for that bike, normally paired with MT-21 front. But the MT-21 wears fast, so figured the D606 front would serve a little better on the heavier Tenere. Previously ran the Scorpion Rally STR (excellent gravel tire) but wanted more bite for the muddy trails. Enter the D606 front with its more aggressive knobs. Cornering grip feels more unpredictable—I’m sure it’s there, just don’t know when it’ll break loose at speed, so my cornering is less confident as a result. Braking and control in sand is good, handles wet ruts well—tracks reasonably straight with light bar input. Experimented with pressures 22-29 psi (running tubes, so don’t tend to go lower or pinch flats are a risk), find that about 25psi is reasonable compromise for paved/dirt. Street handling is good for a knobby although I haven’t pushed it hard or above 120km/hr because I’d like to keep the knobs in decent shape for a while longer. Overall I’d probably try something else before replacing with same, but depending on availability of options I wouldn’t hesitate to buy the D606 front again.
