I’ve had the Dyson air wrap for a year now and this is my honest full review of the product. If you're looking for a chic, luxurious hair product, this is it. The Dyson Airwrap is a well made product, which gives you the best results for any hair style you're going for. When I first used the air wrap, the air that came out of it was VERY strong. The blow drying attachment puts the air out in one place so your hair is not flying all over the place getting tangly. It allows you to blow your hair out in a natural way just like a regular blow dryer would but 10x stronger, taking less time to fully dry your hair. The next attachment that I used was the round brush. I love the way this product gives me such a natural blow out. It allows you to blow your hair out in a natural way just like a regular blow dryer would but 10x stronger, taking less time to fully dry your hair. The next attachment that I used was the round brush. I love the way this product gives me such a natural blow out. I twist the brush at the bottom of my hair and it gives me the most natural look with a slight curl at the end of my hair. My mother, who has very curly hair, uses the round brush and it fully straightens her hair while getting rid of almost all of the frizz her hair has. The two brush attachments are very useful. My hair is naturally straight with a little wave to it but the brush attachments allow me to fully straighten my hair without using an iron at all. I use the blow drying attachment to blow dry my hair about 85% dry which takes me about 5 minutes total. Then I go in with the brush attachment and run it through my hair which completely straightens in within minutes and little run throughs in my hair. Between the two brush attachments, I can’t tell a huge difference on which one straightens my hair, although the one without the dots at the end of the brissels does make my hair more frizzy than the one with the dots. Now onto the Barrels! Those are what makes this THE airwrap. I’m going to be completely honest the barrels are a tad challenging to get the hang of using at first but once you learn how to use it, they give you the best volume, soft, natural curls. What I love about the barrels are that you can control how you want your hair to look. If you want a more tighter curl than you use the smaller barrels and wrap your hair around the barrel yourself. If you want a more loose voluminous curl, then use the larger barrels and let the air, wrap your hair around them itself. I also love how they give you two different directions. Personally I hate having my hair in my face and having two different directions allows me to turn my curls away from my face on both sides. I can say on the newer dyson, I love having just one barrel and not having to burn your fingers trying to switch attachments between the two barrel directions. Overall I love this product and I would recommend anyone with any hair type to get this product. I have had it for over a year and It still acts and looks just like I got it a year ago. If your thinking about getting it, the answer is YES! The price is high, but once you get it you will understand the price and the quality of this product.

I received this as a Xmas gift. It was a bit fiddly at first but after I mastered how to use it, I find it very simple and easy. However, my hair type does not allow for me to leave my hair slightly damp before using the tool. It would only end up frizzy. I need to create volume and using the tool as described doesn’t allow for this if leaving my hair damp. I find even after using a good quality curl setting spray my curls are left loose and slightly fly away and fall out easily. My hair is long so I need to split each individual section into quite small sections to get a curl, and even then as the tool wraps my hair the very bottom of the section falls away to the bottom of the tool resulting in the curl being looser than the mid section. I will keep using the Dyson airwrap in the hope I will manage to master it. And because I Daren’t tell my very generous partner I’m not happy with it.

Unfortunately I will be going back to my straighteners.

Exceeds expectations with no steep learning curve
3 April 2023

I hesitated on this purchase, not just because of the price, but because of the reviews I saw that talked about a “steep learning curve” for this product, how hard it is to learn to use it the right way and get the results you want, how the smoothing brushes and round brush don’t work as expected, how long hair takes to style, and how curls drop within a couple of hours. These reviews put me off making such a big investment, so I opted instead for the supersonic hair dryer which got rave reviews and seemed pretty fool-proof to use. I LOVE the supersonic (reviewed separately) but couldn’t shake the idea of the Airwrap, especially as my daughter is now more often than not using my supersonic. I went ahead and purchased an Airwrap last month and it has now become my go-to. The dryer attachment dries my hair almost as fast as the supersonic. The smoothing brushes give me a soft blow out with just the right amount of body, and the round brush doesn’t tear or drag at my hair at all, just gives me a little extra curl at the ends. The 1.2 inch barrel is my go-to for more curls. I just use heat resistant hair spray, make sure to use the barrel when my hair is still at least 20 percent damp, and give each curl a good 15-20 seconds on the cool shot. I have ZERO skills when it comes to styling hair, so when I say that it took no more than 5 minutes to get the hang of this, that should mean something. Each style lasts into the next day, with minimal time required, and my hair feels soft and looks full and shiny. This morning I was in a rush to get to a meeting, and instead of just sticking my hair in a pony tail, I was able wash my hair, dry and style it with the Airwrap dryer and round brush and get out the door in 15 minutes. That is a game changer for someone like me who had basically given up on styling my hair because before the Dyson products it took me 45 minutes to blow dry with always unsatisfactory results. The only feature I can’t quite figure out how to get good results with is the flyaway functionality of the dryer, but that’s not a deal breaker. It is great to have the option of the Supersonic and the Airwrap, but the bottom line is that if I could only have one, I would choose the Airwrap - unless you really need a diffuser or have very thick hair, then I think you can rely on the hair drying attachment of the AirWrap to dry your hair almost as fast as the Supersonic. If it helps, my hair is chest length and fairly fine, prone to frizz, with a light natural curl. I can’t promise it will work as well for everyone, I just know it works for me. If it had dual voltage and I could take it overseas it would be perfect, but that’s not enough to ding it a star. It’s expensive, yes, but it can pretty much replace every hair styler and dryer you have, the attachments are so quick and easy to switch out that you can use 2 or 3 of them as you style to get exactly the look you want, and it gives great results without applying scorching heat like curlers or straighteners in a fraction of the time needed with any other tool or method. Just wish I could have afforded one years ago….

It Lives Up to the Hype!
4 November 2022

I was nervous to purchase this product given the high dollar price tag and the fact that some reviews say the curls don’t hold well, but I had to give it a try - and in my favorite colors! I was originally going to purchase a competitors styler for the cheaper price but knew it would leave me wanting this more and that I’d end up eventually getting this anyways so I finally did. I purchased the long barrel version because I plan to keep growing my hair and I’m glad I did because it covers a much larger surface area at a time. I have a lot of naturally wavy hair that falls a few inches past my shoulders, but it’s very fine and doesn’t usually hold any kind of heat style very well. After years of trying to force my hair to do what I wanted it to do I gave up because it just wasn’t worth the time and effort anymore. This air wrap creates styles that hold wonderfully for me! It is also much faster than using a regular dryer and curling iron. I was wowed! The 1.2 inch barrel makes bouncy wavy curls that are in style right now which I love, and the 1.6 inch barrel makes my hair look more like a slightly curly blowout which I also love. I look forward to purchasing the .8 inch barrel for a tighter curl! The round brush I use for my side bangs and it gives them so much volume! The other brushes are great for smoothing at the beginning and the dryer piece really does hide your frizz and reduce drying time. Since my hair is wavy I use the dryer after it air drys about 15% to get it to 85-90% dry which I’ve found has given me the best and quickest results. I recommend using volume mouse and spray on the roots and sea salt spray on curls to create texture and hold. When considering this purchase I watched a LOT of reviews and tutorials which I think really helped lessen my learning curve when starting to use the air wrap. I had no issues when using this product the first time. I’m happy to have finally found a product that works for my hair and to be able to enjoy styling my hair again.

Lemon Airwrap

And I have to trust that they will send me a product that works. I’ve owned Dyson products for over a decade and I am really disappointed by this experience. I think the quality of the product and the brand is going down.

Not good for my hair

Dyson Airwrap was a gift from my husband, I wanted it for a long time. Unfortunately, I didn't test it before in stores. A piece of advice: if you have a chance to get your hair styled with Dyson Airwrap in a hair salon, please do so before buying. The Coanda attachment is okay, although it doesn't help with my flyaways. The brush attachments are fine, I use them when I want straight hair. However, after using any brush attachments, my hair seems to be electrified. The attachments for curls are a complete disaster, they fall apart after a few minutes unless I use a gallon of hair spray to fixate them. The round attachment is okay-ish, I use it for blowouts, like this 90s-style blowout but I have never achieved this look. Maybe my styling skills are to blame.I ... MoreDyson Airwrap was a gift from my husband, I wanted it for a long time. Unfortunately, I didn't test it before in stores. Maybe my styling skills are to blame.I tried different styling products, cheap ones, and more expensive ones but my hair doesn't hold the desired shape at all.I also hoped that Dyson Airwrap would help me save time on my hairstyle, I have chest-length hair and it takes me about 1h 20min to go from wet to dry. I don't want to spend this much time. To be fair, when I do straight hair, it takes me around 30 minutes, which is great.I'm moving to the US soon and I will have to sell my Dyson Airwrap because the voltage in the US is different. Also, there's another drawback with my version of Dyson. It was purchased in Israel and I can't use it anywhere except for Israel because of the plug. I don't know if I want to buy it again. On one hand, I got used to it and I can style my hair with only one tool. On the other hand, it seems unfair that such an expensive tool requires so much effort to get mediocre/good results.

Okay but not great
1 February 2024

Okay but not great. I bought the Airwrap in John Lewis and was told it was 'for all hair lengths', when actually it's the Long version, so not great for my short-medium length hair. I've tried to book an online support session (only 15 mins), but none are available, even up to 4 months away. I'm going to try to look at purchasing more 'small' brushes from the Dyson site (although having spent over £400 I still have to buy more brushes at £30 each - when they are in stock - so it's a very expensive investment). It takes some time getting used to using the Airwrap, and is a bit bulky. The air stream is nice and feels quite gentle, although very loud when it goes next to your ear. I think it would be good if you have long hair and want to create waves. The Dyson ... MoreOkay but not great. Hopefully one day I will gain access to the online support and be able to get some more advice!

This product will revolutionize HAIR STYLING+time

One of the best purchases I have ever made- I had asked every single person I knew with thick & long hair if the Dyson air wrap styler was worth the price and every single person answered me without a second of hesitation- they all said yes! So before I even purchased this item- I knew it had to be special. Apparently special is an understatement for this product!First I’ll tell you about my hair texture. It’s extremely thick and coarse- wavy in texture and literally sometimes takes me over an hour to just blow dry my hair flat or straight followed by another hour of going over it with the hair straightener - so to spend $600 on something that would potentially save me hours - seemed like a no brainer. I also really struggle with styling my hair and can barely use a curling iron- but this product makes my hair look like I got it done at the salon- every time I use it! Literally this product revolutionized hair styling in all honesty & has cut down on time SIGNIFICANTLY!So if you’re not good at styling your hair & want a tool to assist you in that department you absolute need the. Dyson air wrap! Or if you’re looking for something to manage your thick and coarse hair and significantly cut down on drying and styling time- this is the one! This tool is amazing- my only complaint would be- it needs a styling guide/booklet with all the attachments and all their multiple uses!
