If I could give this 0 stars I would. My husband and I bough the Dyson V11 Animal Vaccum in July of 2021. In April of 2022 our vacuum quit working for no apparent reason. We purchased the product from bed bath and beyond with gift cards we had received as wedding gifts, as we had a registry with bed bath beyond. We have a 2 year warranty on the product, and tried to reach out to Dyson’s customer service. First of all, their customer service is trash. How long do you expect a vacuum cleaner that is in the $500 range to last? I expected it to last longer than 2.5 years before it starting falling apart. The motor/suction is high quality. The supporting cast is still cheap plastic and in the past 6 months parts have been shearing off. Firs the bit that blocks the entire tube from shooting off into the trash when emptying the canister broke, so every time we empty the debris we have to manage the canister and either be very gentle or reinstall it. In the past month the plastic piece that supports your hand/finger by the trigger broke off. Now there is very sharp plastic edges right where your fingers rest at the trigger. That means it's a little awkward to maneuver, and I can't vacuum the whole house at one time because my arm and hand get too tired. Secondly is the having to hold the trigger the turns the machine on the whole time. Not only does the finger get tired, it also rubs up against the top of the handle which begins to hurt. I know that feature is to extend batter life, but it should have some sort of option lock (like a hose trigger sprayer does) so you don't have to hold the trigger the whole time if you don't want to. I needed a cordless vacuum that was able to pick up Belgian Malinois Shepard fur from H _ _ _, easy to use, lighter than a full vacuum BUT WORK AS WELL OR BETTER than a full-size - I have chronic back pain and fibromyalgia and numbness… Yes in my crazy perfect vacuum dream world this existed and it DID! I would have told you 2 years ago do whatever you need to and buy bc it has incredible suction, awesome holders for tools with wall mount and on pole, adjustable suction on torque floor tool, adjust able power - Eco for low dirt area, Auto and Boost for deeper and stronger suction. So those are PROS. CONS are you need to press trigger to power it so with my neuropathy in hands at times I cannot vac, need to remove any attachments to empty dirt bin, after @8-12 months the bin empty slide started to stick, and then at 2 years (WARRANTY EXPIRED) and @5 months it started to shut off and then turn on. Called customer support and and they did a video troubleshoot and said it’s the battery. Well no battery in stock. Actually ABSOLUTELY ZERO SPARE PARTS for my baby have been in stock for over a month now! A week or so later it stopped more and then shut down. Called again and told it was the cyclone part (a guy on YouTube had same exact issue but his warranty was still active) BUT NO PART available. He told me to call or go to my nearest Dyson service center. Well the nearest in @1.25hrs. away. I do not have a car - getting divorced so I took my Dyson V11 animal and he got our 25 y/o car worth about the same. He fought for my V11 which was honestly a no win - I don’t know what he was thinking. Lol Plus the service center when I finally reached a person said that maybe it’s the trigger and I could mail it in. I still haven’t decided bc why pay to ship something that there’s no parts for? I am very disappointed and very upset bc it was a great machine.

We typically use our DC65 upright to do our normal weekly vacuuming. The V11 Animal is literally used only on wooden stairs between 1-2 times per MONTH. Recently, the trigger will only work occasionally, and we have to pull off the filter to shut the vacuum off. This V11 vacuum is legitimately 27 months into its service life and has only been used 40-50 times at about 5-7 minutes each use. Dyson customer service wants us to pay $130 to repair this nearly $700 vacuum that is in nearly new condition.I work in manufacturing and sales. I have read that buying a refurbished Dyson is a great choice. That Dyson does a great job and stands behind their refurbished products. I ordered this refurbish animal Dyson, so that I could take my older one to a rental property. I was excited to have the new version for my home. However, this one does not have enough power from the main motor to cause the bristles to rotate as it vacuums a rug or hard surface floor. I ordered this refurbish animal Dyson, so that I could take my older one to a rental property. I was excited to have the new version for my home. However, this one does not have enough power from the main motor to cause the bristles to rotate as it vacuums a rug or hard surface floor. It only has enough suction when you use the small attachments, in a handheld manner, I have reached out to Dyson, and they did not respond quickly at all. After threatening to dispute with my credit card company, they finally sent me a new attachment for vacuuming the floors. However, it still does not work! I’m reaching out to Dyson again hoping that they will honor a return or replacement. Be careful with buying a refurbished Dyson from Zulily. I cannot return it and I now do not have an order number Dyson will recognize online to start a return. This is also making the process more complicated.
I really wish Dyson would simplify their lineup - their nomenclature, packages, and numerical schemes make purchasing unnecessarily complicated. That being said, this vacuum really does advance the state of cleaning. Compared to my previous models, this is easier to empty, is more powerful, and seems better made. However, it is considerably larger and heavier, but the laws of physics can't be denied - if you want larger capacity, you're gonna need more plastic, and it's gonna weigh more.A special commendation to Dyson for their packaging. I'm sick of cheap Chines goods that use styrofoam, cardboard, and other mixed packing materials, making it nearly impossible to recycle. This vacuum is packed really really well, and it's all cardboard. We have had this for years. The first vacuum didnt work. Dyson replaced it, second one didnt work, dyson replaced it. And third one finally worked.They broke within minutes each time but this third one has been going strong. We were frustrated at first but dyson does back the product so I appreciate that.We use it all the time, its lightweight and versatile. I recommend it. I grew up with big vaccums, no more throwing out my shoulder to vaccum. Weve had to replace some pieces since then but like i said dyson backs their product, just please remember to register your product to start the warranty.
