Almost everything about this vacuum is perfect. It's extremely capable at cleaning, very ergonomic, the attachments connect very securely and are very functional, and honestly, it's the most fun vacuum to use that I've ever owned. My only gripes would be that I think the canister capacity is a bit too small, and the battery runtimes can be quite short in practical use. I didn't deduct any points because I probably could have determined that with more careful research prior to purchase. Basically, I think the V12 is more targeted at smaller apartments or individual rooms, whereas the V15 is probably more appropriate for a home like ours. That being said, the V15 was quite a bit more expensive, and my understanding is that it's heavier and bulkier as well, so in some ways, the V12 is the better value, even for a bigger home. The other nice thing is that because it's so light and quick to grab off the wall mount, it's not unreasonable to vacuum a larger home 1-2 rooms at a time with this thing, which is what I ended up doing. Admittedly, I was putting the machine into its highest "boost" setting on thick, heavily soiled carpet with pet hair and baby mess, so one would expect the runtimes to be negatively impacted, but I didn't realize just how low they'd go, to around 10-15 minutes. Not the end of the world, and they do get quite a bit better at lower settings and on hard floors, for example.Overall, I think this is an excellent product. A tiny bit bigger would have been ideal for me, but it's not a big deal, and ergonomics are very important for a cordless stick vacuum like this. I highly recommend this to just about anyone.

Three cats, one dog, 2 adults in our house, regular vacuuming is a necessity. I previously had a Dyson, required a repair that could not be quickly done during the pandemic, so bought a Sharp at local big box store. Both promoted cleaning homes with pets, both worked very well. The Sharp's upholstery attachment recently stopped working, I bought this Dyson on impulse. Wow. It is a superior vac, even compared to my other Dyson and the Sharp. We have wood floors, area rugs, all are noticeably cleaner after one sweep with this Dyson. Not having a cord trailing around is a plus. I can do the stairs using the usual floor attachment without stopping to switch to the hand attachment, easier to get up and down the stairs as it is lightweight. The smaller size makes it easier to maneuver into the corners, under furniture. Most importantly, the suction, and the "grab" of the attachments, are better than any vacuum I've ever used .Here are the quirks, which I can live with: our house is about 1750 sq ft, I did maybe 2/3 before the battery required recharge. The dirt bin is small, required 5 or 6 empties during this one use. Both of those complaints may be due to this being my first use, I was taking extra time to do the rugs, and it was just pulling out that much dirt. So that may improve. Stick vacs cannot "stand up" if you need to step away; and, in my experience, are more stressful on the hand/wrist area because the weight is in the top handle (where the battery is), rather than carried mainly on the part that rests on the floor. I am willing to trade that off for the superior cleaning, but it might be a problem for those with arthritis or other injury. Paper instructions that come with the vac are minimal. You can put it together intuitively, but much more info available if you can scan the code to a smart phone.

Finally, a "docking station" for wall mounting and a clip for the Combo and Crevice tools. My sole irritation was they moved the power switch from a trigger location to a button on top of the device. I don't currently like it because turning the device on an off is a two-handed exercise. We had a v10 absolute under a year old, loved it, nothing wrong with it, but disliked not having to keep a finger on the on switch as it made hoovering the car a pain. Step up the v12 version, power switch on, no need to hold down. Also like the display which tells you how much battery you have left. Some of what it displays are to me gimmicks, but can be switched off. Easy to use, without reading instructions and easy to charge just plug it in or use the dock if you have somewhere for it.Uses same accessories so we are still using them and son getting the v10 with the ones we don’t use, he’s happy to get a free dyson. Lots of additional accessories available for this model including pet care, but my dogs would not let me use this on them, they dislike hoovers ... MoreWe had a v10 absolute under a year old, loved it, nothing wrong with it, but disliked not having to keep a finger on the on switch as it made hoovering the car a pain. Lots of additional accessories available for this model including pet care, but my dogs would not let me use this on them, they dislike hoovers intensely.Being frank, I don’t like the smaller capacity bin compared to my v10. However as dog owners, here is a top tip, I always have a dog poo bag about my person and this is ideal to empty content of bin into without having to find a bin. I find it gets filled upstairs, then I empty into poo bag, move downstairs with it empty, fills again, into poo bag. Tie up poo bag deposit in bin, job done and no dust in bin, as all in the tied up poo bag. When emptying move the leaver back and forth a few times to empty out any dust collected round the filter area.I can’t believe what it collects. I hoover our bed daily and our whole house weekly it is incredible what it collects. We have two short haired dachshunds, two adults and wool carpets and rugs in our house. So easy and lightweight to hoover stairs compared to dyson ball upright we also have, which now never gets used.Filter is washable, unlike my v10 which came with 2, this only comes with one, at some point I will order another so I can wash one and let it dry but still use the hoover with the other one.I use dyson for all hair and hoover products and although expensive they are incredible.

I have 3 (now 4) Dyson vacuums, I have the Airwrap and it is so awesome I wanted to try their other products. I purchased my first used D6 from eBay, I wanted to try one to see if it worked as well as it was claimed. I liked it but wanted a newer so I gave that one to my son and saved up and went with the V10 model (which I still have and still love), I then purchased the canister (refurbished) for deep cleaning items like furniture because the V10 would only go about 30 minutes and that was frustrating to me. I wanted something with a swappable battery but did not want to spend another $600 so when the small one (Omni Glide) came out I got it from Best Buy and found some extra attachments on ebay for it (mini motorized tool) and that one was excellent for day to ... MoreI have 3 (now 4) Dyson vacuums, I have the Airwrap and it is so awesome I wanted to try their other products. My daughter borrowed it (she cleans houses) and she loved it so I let her keep it and found this one, which is in the middle of the 2 I have. I think the laser might send my OCD into overdrive because it showed everything on the floor when it looks clean without it. It is crazy how much dust it shows. I am glad I can turn it off if I choose, but I have not done that. IMO this is the best of the 5 I have tried. The battery seems to last, but it is swappable so when they are available I will be buying an extra. But so far I am using eco mode mostly and the battery lasts longer than I expected. The suction even on eco is better than my D10, my D10 does not suck up the throw rugs, but this one does. I wish I could adjust the suction to lower for this reason but all around this is a great cordless. I like the power switch because it makes it easier when using some of the attachments, not having to hold the trigger, but I am torn as I also like the trigger switch and miss it a little.

Laser is so good you’ll see flooring unevenness
6 June 2023

The Slim Dyson is lighter than our Dysons 8 which has given us many years of great service and is still chugging along. The button for turning the vacuum on with active sensing to modulate the power levels is very effective. It is more user friendly than holding the trigger and having two settings. While dimming the lights to get an even better visual of the roller with the laser detection is “enlightening” to say the least, this thing is so good it will highlight minor areas of unevenness on your floors. We just finished the basement with luxury vinyl title and the occasional areas that are 100% flush will “pop out”. If this might drive you nuts and you prefer ignorant bliss of how clean your floors really area, do not get this eye opening device! We just finished the basement with luxury vinyl title and the occasional areas that are 100% flush will “pop out”. If this might drive you nuts and you prefer ignorant bliss of how clean your floors really area, do not get this eye opening device! You may start liking to vacuum as you defeat the dust, dirt and hair on what looks like an otherwise clean floor. I have to commend Dysons on leading innovation within this sector. I would say that the anti-tangle hair brush head also works better than the prior heads - just wish that head had a laser too! Finally this unit allows you to buy a swappable battery if you need more runtime - this is a feature that LG did a good job of pressuring Dysons to provide over their fixed battery design. At this price I think they should have included a spare battery since you really can’t benefit from the feature unless you have one, but the swappable battery really allows them to keep the weight super low. Some prior Dyson 8 users may not like having to disconnect the cleaning head to dispose of the debris collected, but the inline versus 90 degree waste bin collection is a more effective design for maximizing suction capability without excessive battery usage. Dyson engineers are geniuses but the laws of Physics and engineering still apply to them. I would highly recommend this design - you will not be disappointed!

It is perfect for quick and often cleans, keeping on top of your chores more often makes you feel better and fits around a busy lifestyle. The battery is small and fits on a worktop to charge, takes 3.5 hours and the digital display tells you how much run time you have.Suction options depending on your clean and more brush heads provided than you can imagine!Do not hesitate to buy - this is truly a masterpiece!!Cons: My only concern is when plugging in the battery to charge, 2 blue lights look like they slowly breathe, thinking this means charging but this stops after a few minutes and so I never know when it is fully charged. Something I can clarify with Dyson directly.

Vacuuming has always been his job in the house, and he has lugged our old machine up and down two flights of stairs fastidiously for years. Now I hear him flit from room to room, wielding his new obsession like El Zorro, its green light illuminating the sneakiest of morsels, while its flexible design allows him to seek out detritus in previously un-explored nooks of our house.I very much hope my husband's enthusiasm for cleaning our house with his new toy will translate to an interest in the same chore for my baby when he is old enough to earn pocket money.

Most of the parts are easy to clean except for the body of the vacuum where debris builds up and trapped which causes odors.Cons:1. This is a VERY weak vacuum, even on the highest setting but when using it on the highest setting you will have less than 3 minutes of runtime on a full charge. This thing surprisingly has a hard time handling things like dry cereal, chips, and what ever else a toddler will drop which is very frustrating due to the price of the item.2. Digital color display for battery life and speed settings.3. For the price of this vacuum, the attachments shouldn’t feel “cheap” and you like. I haven’t broken an attachment but it’s probably because I am very careful due to the daintiness of each piece. I look past the scuffs and scratches that it acquired over the year of use. For this price point though, this vacuum should have been built better, more solid.3. The battery! Luckily I own a small home so I get through each room on med mode without a dead battery but I do make sure to charge the batter fully before each use. Sometimes you need the vacuum to quickly clean up an unexpected accident or a spill and if I didn’t remember to charge it fully after the last use I will have a partially clean up mess and need the old broom and dustpan to finish the job over my $700 vacuum.I’m not going to list the other cons because I think I already made my point. Hindsight is always 20/20 and when I purchased this vacuum I bought into the “Dyson hype” and really liked the idea of having a cordless vacuum that was light. Would I recommend this vacuum or any Dyson vacuum to anybody??? Absolutely Not!!!! I think a Dyson is good if you want to introduce vacuuming as a chore to your young children because this thing is nothing more than a toy. I’ve owned and used corded vacuums that were under $60 and 20x better. If you’re considering this vacuum, please take it from me and do more research.

Perfect!

I've wanted a cordless vacuum for a while as it takes 8 socket changes to do my whole 4 bedroom house with a corded cleaner which usually meant I never did more than a quarter of the house at a time! However, from previous reviews with some negative aspects (on other cordless ones as well as Dyson), I have been slow to make the change. The main things holding me back was the weight of the machine (as you are 'carrying' the engine around with you rather than dragging it on the floor), concerns about the power and battery life, and the thought of having to keep a 'trigger' switch depressed for any length of time. I have 2 dogs who shed a lot of hair, I have long hair, and my house has a mixture of hard floors (tiles, laminate and vinyl tiles) plus carpets.I used ... MoreI've wanted a cordless vacuum for a while as it takes 8 socket changes to do my whole 4 bedroom house with a corded cleaner which usually meant I never did more than a quarter of the house at a time! I have 2 dogs who shed a lot of hair, I have long hair, and my house has a mixture of hard floors (tiles, laminate and vinyl tiles) plus carpets.I used the Dyson 'help' to suggest which vacuum was best for me and the V12+ was one of the two recommended (the other was the V15+).I opted for the V12+ because it was lighter in weight. I knew that meant that I would have to empty the bin more frequently, but I preferred that to carrying a heavy weight around. Having used it now for a few weeks, the bin is SO easy to empty it really doesn't bother me at all.The floor cleaning power is awesome and on the auto mode where it automatically adjusts the power when it needs to, I can actually do the whole house (floors) on one charge. The laser on the hard floor head is brilliant - I never knew I was missing so much invisible dirt with my old cleaner. It's not a gimmick at all - in fact it's made me into a 'cleanaholic' - hoovering the hard floors is now FUN! The carpet head is also really good at hoovering up the dog hair on the carpets. Most of my hair is on my bedroom carpet - for that I use the anti hair wrap head and it actually works - so far I haven't had to detangle the head at all.I am not yet terribly successful with cobwebs from high corners with it - possibly because I can't seem to get the brush head at the right angle to sweep them all up. My corded miele (which I still have) seems to have a better brush for cobwebs. I may just need to try out different ways to get at them. (Dyson - if you are reading this - please let me know which is the best way to do ceiling cobwebs!)In summary - I absolutely love this cleaner. My only suggestion for an enhancement would be a laser light on the dusting attachments to show up the dust!
