I’ve never in my life owned a Dyson but I finally decided to splurge and I’m glad I did! Here are my first impressions after getting up at the crack of dawn excited to test it out haha! It’s much quieter than I thought which is appreciated for those early morning cleanups after my toddler makes a mess but my older daughter is still sleeping. That laser is amazing but terrible at the same time…holy lord the stuff it was bringing to my attention was wild. I love the attachments and the one that lets you make it a 90 angle to go right under couches and furniture…chefs kiss. The floor dok is also a really nice feature as I don’t really have somewhere to mount it to the wall. It’s definitely heavier than I anticipated it to be. I do find I’m switching arms a lot so for ... I do find I’m switching arms a lot so for someone who may be older or limited mobility it may be a bit cumbersome. I don’t hate that you have to press the button constantly to keep it on as it’s easier when you need to stop and go, but I do find it a bit awkward and my hand is a touch sore. I had it fully charged and used it for just over an hour and it’s now dead; I accomplished two floors, two sets of stairs and a couch set in that time. I only have hard floors besides two area rugs which are ruggables, and with the laser brush it has to be on eco otherwise it pulls them up. The other head it comes with does not work at all over ruggables. I don’t have any other ‘carpet’ so I cannot speak to its abilities with that. There are so many attachments this model comes with but there’s no where to store them - I would like to see some extra attachments for the floor dok to store them all.All in all though, highly satisfied with my purchase. I feel as though this is a prime example of “pay for what you get”. It’s a hefty price tag but I suspect this will last me years!

I waited almost a year for the Dyson V15 Detect Absolute (also known by other names in UK/AUS markets) to come back into stock. By the time Dyson Rewards came back for 2022 it was well worth the free Dok and extra tools.Dubbed Dyson’s most powerful cordless Vacuum (for now until/if Gen5 arrives on North American shores), the Dyson V15 Detect Absolute is no slouch at peak 230AW. However running on these settings, are also it’s biggest flaw. At full boost, the battery will run down in sub 10 minutes, although clever marketing might make it seem like you’d get a full 60 minutes if you don’t read carefully. The auto settings are a good happy medium, with the Dyson able to detect if it needs to allocate a quick boost to suck up more stubborn/larger particles, however for legacy Dyson users (used to the superior and non time limited 306AW) or people who like the power of a commercial vacuum, it can leave you a little wanting. To test whether or not the boost vs auto made much of a difference, I tested with the lights off, and vacuumed a standard hardwood floor. Dyson adverts typically show the user walking in a straight line seamlessly sucking up the path ahead, so this was the approach taken to ensure accurate repro. On auto, at first look, the Dyson missed some areas on first pass, as well as struggled with elevated parts of the flooring. Boost picked up particles no problem, but at the expense of the battery life. The laser sees *everything* missed, but also might make you even more of a clean freak. For spot checking (on plush animals, furniture and cushions), boost worked well and I could complete most tasks within the 10 minute time constraints. 4.5 hours seems like a long time to wait before being able to use the device again however especially with quick charge technology available in 2022.Pros:• Best Cordless Dyson in North America today.• Laser is amazing.• LED is great for toggling between settings and validating the work that has been done.• Boost is nothing to scoff at.Cons:• Very short battery life on boost.• Tool clip and nozzle shipped in *free additional tools* non-compatible.• As with most Dyson products, the fact they are made from silicon/plastic works as a magnet to attract dust and I find dust on the exterior of the housing on most days. One last piece, not exclusively related to the Dyson V15 Detect Absolute, but related to the items received in the bundle, the tool (specifically the noozle), did not fit flush in the tool clip which allows you to connect 2x tools to either the dock or the wand. I tried alternating all tools, angles, tightness of the clip, and still could not get the nozzle to fit without protruding (show in image), so came to the conclusion this is was missed in their considerations design. There is another nozzle (and light nozzle) which should fit onto the tool clip, but this did not ship in the tool bundle, and, would cost additional to buy. Either the tool clip needs to be redesigned to compensate for the added rim around the nozzle shipped or, this should be remedied through replacement program.• Not too heavy (can also be held with both hands for added weight distribution).

This isn't a bad product by any sense of the word, but the immense benefits in terms of convenience come at a huge expense from durability. Here is my experience so far:The good things:1. It really is lightweight and portable. We can clean up every small mess because it doesn't involve carrying a big, bulky machine around.2. The battery is strong enough to last a good while. Because we spot-clean rather than longer sessions, it's difficult to keep track exactly how much.3. Cleaning power is sufficient, and it handles our neverending cat fur problem wellThe bad parts:1. It's flimsy. My previous vacuum lasted us 10 years, and I'd be shocked if this makes it half as long. Thin plastics all around, and the bit on side of the general cleaning attachment comes ... Thin plastics all around, and the bit on side of the general cleaning attachment comes off with regular use.2. The laser bit didn't work for us - it just doesn't come on. From the online material I saw this seems to be a very common component to break.3. It is more difficult to empty, and large items regularly get stuck in the motor compartment. It's all going to boil down to money at the end of the day. It's a good product, but I can't imagine a scenario where it will last without repair or replacement as long as other cleaners.
I have been using this for about a month now and I am impressed. The packaging is super well done and all recyclable. The vacuum itself is light enough that it takes a while before I get tired moving it around. And the suction is very impressive. Being a battery model, there are no cords or hoses to drag around so I spend less time vacuuming than before with my central vacuum.I thought the laser was a cute but useless piece of marketing and in a bright room it is pretty useless. But, in a darkened room or a closet, it is actually really useful and does show you the dust that you would have missed otherwise. The battery has been strong enough to allow me to go through my house with no problems. We'll see if the battery degrades over time, but it should be good ... So if you have a lot of rugs or carpets, try it out first. The graphics screen is cute but do I really care about the numbers?Overall, an expensive but impressive machine that works as advertised. So far, I am very happy with my purchase.
I bought this hoover a month ago, after doing some extensive research and reading a lot of reviews on cordless hoovers from all brands. Most reviews seemed to be negative, but I spoke to Dyson UK about a few questions I had, and eventually bit the bullet and decided to buy it.I'm glad the bad reviews didn't sway my decision, as I'm absolutely delighted with this hoover! It's brilliant at cleaning for a start, I thought my floors were clean, until I used this! The battery life is good and allows me to use the Auto setting and clean the entire house (3 bedrooms) in one charge. If you put it on the boost setting (which isn't necessary for standard cleans) it obviously doesn't last very long, but you'd only need the boost setting for really dirty areas I would say. I ... I think a lot of people may not read the full spec entirely as it does state that the run time is less for the boost function. The trigger is really light to hold in, I was dubious about having to hold the trigger, but I forget I'm pushing it in half the time as it's so easy to press and hold. The hoover itself is pretty light, I don't find that my arms hurt at all, and it's easy to lift to hoover stairs, for example (I am an able-bodied person, so can't comment on the weight for those that are less fortunate). It comes with lots of cleaning parts, the attachment for cleaning areas where pets sleep etc is amazing! All in all, I'd definitely recommend this hoover! It's pretty much the exact same model as the Absolute, it comes with the fluffy roller attachment for hard floors which has the laser beam, which is pretty cool. And it's cheaper than the Absolute too!Great service, really speedy delivery too! Go buy it if you're looking for a cordless hoover with all the trimmings!
This is our second in V15 in 3 months. The first one would intermittently (15 times) not turn on with the carpet power head attached. There was over an 1/8" gap where the power head attaches to the post so it would periodically not start. We returned it and got another one and despite a better fitting power head, the new one has done the same thing once.Although I thought the laser was a bit of a gimmick it actually helps see the dirt and dust on the hardwood floors. We tested 3 different manufactures vacs and of the 3 the V15 had the best suction but overall felt the cheapest in quality and only came with one battery. We have a dog and with carpet on 2 out of 3 floors... suction won.Battery power set on "auto" barely lasts long enough to clean 3 floors of 2800sf. I literally race through the house to finish vacuuming bfore the battery dies. Forget about using it on the High setting as your battery will be dead in less than 7 minutes. I wish a second battery was included like the other two vacs that we tested. Unfortunately it was impossible to get that unit, but Dyson is happy to sell you an extra one for $200 although its cheaper to buy it as set.Final thoughts... very good suction, but for this amount of money the quality of thisplastic vacuum feels really cheap, battery power sucks and I really do not see this vac lasting for more than a year.I wish Dyson would get rid if all the useless attachments that they include and spend a little more to make the vacuum better quality. When we returned the first unit the vendor did mention that a lot of Dysons get returned.
I’ve got to be honest. I wasn’t really looking forward to converting to a cordless hoover from my corded animal ball 2… But, that said I do recommend it as a good buy.I’m really impressed with the amount of dirt this picked up when hoovering my entire downstairs in auto mode & did use boot option a few times. My house is a 4 bedroom medium sized house and this hoover tackled everything I threw at it. I have two toddlers aged 3 & 4 and a Newfoundland large breed fluff ball of a dog that moults so much I’ve shaved the dog to save on grooming time & cleaning… this V15 hoover picked up dog hair that was stuck deep in my thick pile rugs and the fluffy roller cleaned my hard floor better than any hoover I’ve ever owned. I thought the green LED light was a gimmick and didn’t think I’d find it useful at all, as I thought it’s just a dim green light. However, it really did show me how dirty my floors was - even though they looked clean.I honestly thought I would have returned this hoover, but it’s so much better than my animal ball 2 model at sucking up dirt - I’m going to keep it… it’s also nice walking around the house without being restricted to a cable and an electric outlets. Also this hoover can clean my car as good as it cleans my house. The negative I’ve found is the bin size needs to be bigger or longer, because it easily fills quickly and I’m needing to empty it after every use. I originally was going to buy the outsize model with it having a larger bin, but I opted for the V15 with it having stronger suction and a cheeper price tag and also having updated cleaning Technology. So I decided to go for this v15 model. I don’t regret my choice, but it’s very annoying having to empty the bin so often.Another issue I found, the bin don’t stay clean when you empty it. You need to wipe it down with a cloth after you empty the bin to keep it clean… as I don’t like having a dirty hoover on display charging up with dirt init. It makes the house look dirty with it sitting on a wall mounted charging dock.If you have a pantry or a storage cupboard you store your hoover and don’t care if it looks dirty. Then it’s not so much of an issue. But if you are like me and have it mounted in your hallway, it’s a little embarrassing having guest over with a hoover full of dirt on display. So I think a brush inside the bin would have helped loosen trapped dust when emptying. But it’s not a big issue. As it can be wiped clean after use.I also think if your have a medium sided 3/4 bedroom house like me. That you will need to buy a second battery todo a full house clean. As the battery only gives me enough time to deep clean my downstairs. This said, investing in an extra battery would be very beneficial for full house cleans, just be prepared to empty the bin a few times. The last issue is, it’s quite expensive for what you get. It is better than corded hoovers but the collection bin I feel lets down the efficiency in deep cleaning large areas…For this reason. I’ve give this hoover a 4 star rating. Because it’s really good at cleaning. But it does have miner downsides too and needs improvements for larger homes. But not enough to make it a bad buy.
I recently purchased a Dyson V15 Detect Extra, and as someone who previously owned a V10, the difference between the two models is truly remarkable. The V15 boasts significantly more power, requires less frequent filter cleaning, and includes a built-in crevice tool, all of which make cleaning a breeze.I was fortunate enough to have the opportunity to compare the Dyson V15 with Shark's vacuum offerings, and I found that the Dyson outperformed its competition for several reasons:Cleaner head weight and maneuverability: Although this aspect might not be widely discussed, the lightweight design of the Dyson cleaner head is a game-changer. It glides effortlessly between furniture, making it easy to clean tight spaces. At first glance, a duo brush roller head may seem like a superior option, but once you experience the difficulty of pushing around such a bulky head, you'll appreciate the sleek design of the Dyson.Sturdier build and better quality: The Dyson V15 feels solid and durable, capable of withstanding rough usage. The plastic components don't come across as cheap or flimsy, contributing to the overall impression of a well-crafted device.Built-in crevice tool: The integrated crevice tool is incredibly convenient. When you need to clean up small, hard-to-reach areas, simply detach the hose and vacuum up the stray bits of dirt that the larger brush can't access. In conclusion, the Dyson V15 Detect Extra is an outstanding vacuum cleaner, albeit a bit pricey. However, considering its numerous advantages and superior performance, I would argue that the investment is well worth it.On a side note, I added some climbing finger tape to the Dyson's handle and it made the device so much more comfortable to use. My hands no longer slide and I need to grip the handle less tightly.
I got the V15 mainly for the laser and sucking power. The difference has been very noticeable. Firstly from seeing it suck up more than a billion small particles from our carpets after about a day from our old non-Dyson vacuum covering the same area just really puts into perspective how superior the product is. My youngest used to get sick for weeks at a time with change of seasons and going back to school and that has all but gone away. What would normally take two weeks to recover from has lasted two days and I'm sure it's the much cleaner floor and carpet that he is around that is contributing significantly to that. The laser is so helpful in the evenings on the laminate floor and the carpet tool upstairs has made them feel brand new again. The car smells new ... The car smells new again. Those floor boards one would normally need a wet cloth to remove the dust from are now cleaned regularly. I still need to test out the overhead tool but I'm sure it will work well. Unfortunately/ fortunately no need yet for the hairbrush tool. I cannot tell you how happy I am for a clean keyboard. It was expensive but I am so glad I took the leap of faith with this product as my first Dyson product. The only negative I have is that I would have loved the option to swap in the floor dock and pay in the difference instead of receiving the wall dock which I need to drill into the wall to secure. I just use a bag for the remaining tools and keep the vacuum on a shelf in the pantry.
