e.l.f. Luminous Putty Primer

I started using Elf’s luminous primer a few months ago, and it’s quickly become one of my favorite parts of my make up routine. I got it in an Ipsy bag and I was instantly hooked. It’s definitely one of the best primers I’ve ever used and it works so well on my skin. The yellow tint is perfect for helping conceal my under eye bags, and it applies so smoothly. It dries quicker than most primers and leaves my skin feeling hydrated and healthy. The glow I get from using it is just an added extra bonus! I would definitely recommend this primer to anyone who’s using a make up primer, it’s definitely one of my favorites!

I have been using this as an eye primer, I know it’s meant for a face but I figure my eyes have a face so why not hey? (I only painted half my face, sorry, I am an abomination!). So I find this works very well for me as eye primer, on my face I am not convinced of primers, with my eyes, I 💯% agree is useful and needed. This gives the shadow something to stick to and is easy to move a brush through while awaiting permanent dry. It couldn’t replace my BH Cosmetics face glue but here it serves a purpose. Also I would like to share the announcement you can use Dior power not powder as foundation! It’s crazy but amazing I know! I was skeptical at first because it said “putty” and I was thinking more along the lines of silly putty or play doh, and I thought how is it going to actually work? Well, by the time I bought it, I had 2 other primers that I had bought and used, and my friends recommended the poreless putty primer, but since I don’t like my makeup matte, I saw the luminous one and was like “Yes! That’s my ish!” I love using it with other primers when I have to use different primers on different areas of my face for different techniques and looks. I use it where my foundation could cake up the most, such as under my eyes, and sometimes I’ll even use it on my eyelids too for a more moisturized, luminous look with my eyeshadow. I have found that the best foundations to use with this primer are liquids and some thinner creams, because I have used it with stick foundations and thicker creams, and it does not work well with those types on me. And then my setting powder just becomes a mess and starts to separate and crack. But I really am partial to this primer. If I didn’t have post inflammatory pigmentation scars, I would wear it on its own because it’s so pretty.

I couldn't find the vitamin c putty primer but I also do have the luminous primer too! I got this primer during a sale and it was worth every penny! I like the sleek packaging. When I opened it I was a little concerned by how yellow it looked. However, it is definitely not yellow on the skin! There are no specks of glitter or shimmer. I like to apply it using a stipple brush. I was a bit worried because I do have mature sensitive skin and a bit of an oily T-Zone. I love how this melted into my skin and instantly brightened it without glitter or shimmery particles. It's just the right amount of glow plus you're getting vitamin c so it doubles as skin Care! It definitely revived my doll tired looking skin. When I removed my makeup with my cleansing balm, my skin looked brighter and fresher. You can also wear this on its own and maybe just add concealer to even out your skin tone. I will definitely repurchase this product.

I give the product two stars only because it's very moisturizing, a little goes a long way, and the price is low. With a primer like this one, you would think that it would come with a little spatula or applicator so that you don't have to dig your finger into it. This did not come with one, so I have had to use various other random little objects to scoop the product out and put it onto my face. Sure I can do my hair or other things while i'm waiting but... it doesn't always take me that long to do my hair, and sometimes I already have done my hair before I start my makeup. Thirty minutes just seems like an excessive amount of time to wait for a primer to set, considering i've used so many that tell you to immediately apply your foundation. Not exactly sure why we have to wait that long, but of course I tested it out. I tried applying my foundation just a few minutes after applying the primer (like 5ish minutes) and my foundation was definitely not clinging to anything, it was not blending into my skin, it was just sitting on top of the primer, which was still sitting on top of my skin because it still had not fully absorbed (guessing that takes 30 mins). Now that I had proof that waiting was necessary, I put on the primer, then waited the 30 minutes, and then went back in with the same foundation. At that point, the primer was definitely absorbed fully into my skin and my foundation actually went on and blended quite nicely, unlike the first time. Even though it went on better this time around, I still noticed some things I didn't like. Understanding that this is a "luminous" primer, I definitely did not expect my finish to be super matte, but I also was expecting to see that luminous glow. I did not see that, my face just looked a bit oily underneath my foundation (and I don't have oily skin normally). I also noticed that my foundation actually was not sticking to my nose well, at all. That was one place where it seemed like the primer either still wasn't set long enough, or it just made my nose too oily. I think it just made my nose too oily, because again I generally don't have oily skin at all, anywhere. With that being said, it brings me to the last problem I had with this primer, which was the fact that even though I primed my forehead, you could still see the texture and dryness in my forehead even after foundation. This primer claims to moisturize and smooth but that's one part of my face that it just didn't do anything for. Everyone is different, and i'm sure this is a great primer for different skin types and whatnot but for me, it's a hard no.

This product gives me such a beautiful glow! You can wear it alone or with makeup. It definitely is a little bit “glittery” for me though so I don’t wear it by itself and I use it sparingly. Sometimes I’ll use it on high points and then the original primer on my T-Zone. I took one star off because it’s just “good” at helping makeup stay in place and it can sometimes make me a little greasy looking (well, until I realized not to use it on my T-Zone!). It’s such a great option for this price point though if you want some glow with your primer!

It's okay, but not 'luminous'

I am totally undecided about this primer. I like a natural glowy look when it comes to my makeup. This primer has a glittery shimmery appearance. On first look, I wasn't sure how this would pan out. Applies to the skin really nice, texture is nice too. However, I didn't notice any difference using this primer in terms of 'luminous.' I have trailed this primer with a couple of different foundations and the results have been the same. I get a much better glow with using a hydrating primer. I don't dislike this product, nor do I like it. This product, for me, hasn't done with it claims to achieve.

Luminous No creasing

I love Elf products so naturally I want to try as many products as I can from Elf....so I bought their luminous putty primer because I love the original poreless putty it's my holy grail and this luminous putty is just as awesome. It has a ight yellow tint and nd to abyo.eedoes have glitter but its amazing. It blends into my skin and soaks in really fast. I love that that it is hydrating and it has Collagen and Hylauronic acid for my skin. It keeps oils from coming through and it doesn't crease, it also keeps my makeup in place looking great all day long. This primer smooths over imperfections and pores and my pores dissappear. It helps smooth any texture I have and blur imperfections. A little goes a long way it does not break me out.. easy to apply and it is Great value, great amount, excellent quality and small price!

normal to dry skin will love

I got this in a teeny tiny size as part of a free gift from elf. If you have dry skin and want luminosity, this is for you. It's very nice. I have very oily skin, so this doesn't get too much use from me but I definitely enjoy this product still. For me, I press it into my cheeks in the center of my face (because I'm not as oily there). It provides such a nice glow. I actually enjoy this more than the pore filling putty primer.I took one star off because I have used it with the milk primer before and I noticed they do NOT like each other. That being said, I've used it with a more jelly (and less grippy) primer before such as the NYX bare with me one and there was no issue.
