Despite some negative reviews on some parts of the web the Access Point was relatively easy to set up. The layout of the process in the instructions could be a little confusing but as long as the simple set up was followed it was working quickly. For a single Access Point there is no need to use the smartphone app, this only helps for a more complex network. The Access Point provides useful coverage of our medium-sized garden.

I purchased two of these access points so that I could have a couple extra wifi networks in different areas in my house. The single router with wifi in the living room just wasn't cutting it on the third floor.However, after attempting to set up both routers, neither had functioning 2.4 GHz connections! I love the EAP range of wireless access points because they are really simple to use and really effective. I use the (free) recommended Omada software to administer a number of these devices around our house, and another installation at a small business. As soon as I connect a new access point to the network, it appears in the admin tool and its then just a case of clicking adopt, and it instantly gets configured with all of my default settings. I can then go in and set up a fixed IP address. Great that these have some Enterprise grade features like VLANS, and I love that they can use POE, but also come with a POE injector. Moving around the house or business is seamless. I never seem to drop off WiFi. Overall, a great, economical way to have really effective ... I will be comparing my previous access point the Ubiquiti AP Pro vs the new TP-Link AC 1350. I was introduced to the Ubiquity access points (APs) a while back and they worked great. I needed Wi-Fi in my shed, but unfortunately the APs inside the house were too far away and I don't have a network cable outside the house. I decided to try the EAP225 in mesh mode but I had little hope: in fact even my iPhone could not connect to the network so I had little hope that the AP could mesh. But shockingly it actually worked. The signal is very week at -82dB but the AP still manages to establish a mesh with 175Mbps Tx and 130Mbps Rx. The actual bandwidth when trying a speedtest with an iPhone in close proximity is lower than that, but I still manage to get around 50Mbps which is more than enough for the cars to download updates and in the future for connecting the EV charger.The range of the Wi-Fi is not incredible outside, especially if I go around a ... Solved WiFi availability in outbuildings where signal was weak, in line of sight this is very powerful. You need to have it connected to power supply so be prepared to drill through outside wall to get best performance. Easy to set up. So far so good.
Good Points: POE makes installation a lot easier as I only had to route one cable outside the property. Easily mounted to a Drain down pipe using cable ties. I now have great WiFi coverage over my entire back garden. I have a Summer house approx 70 metres away from the Router and have always struggled to get a decent connection even when using plug in boosters. Not anymore, now my Amazon Fire Stick works perfectly with no dropped signal. I'm also able to have Teams calls without any problems. I have a TP-LINK router, I just plugged it in, set up a password and I was up and running in 5 mins using the recommended app on my phone. I didn't even need a PC to set up.Improvement Points: Longer power cable would be handy. Also include a ethernet cable as some of the ... Ive discovered they are extremely sensitive to any surge on the data lines.Over the past year Ive replaced all 6, some multiple times, due to damage during electrical storms. I now have data line surge protectors on both ends of all Cat5e runs that pass through walls, ceilings, or subsurface conduits. This seems to protect all but 1 unit that still gets fried every couple months. That one unit has been replaced 4 times so far.And yes, the power is protected by a properly earth-grounded surge protected power strip which is plugged into a UPS with earth ground. I have 3 of these APs running in my home. They work great. I also use the free Windows based wireless controller software to manage these. I am able to see connected devices and history. Connectivity has been great. The only thing I wish is that TP-Link would add the DFS channels. Because of this you can have 4 x 5ghz non-overlapping channels but only 2 not 3 80mhz wide channels
very poor range. 5GHz together with 2.5GHz does not work, you have to decide for one. you can configure both, but then 5GHz dies after some minutes. even nightly restarts do not prevent a very poor coverage. the sunrise modem 2 levels below in the basement performs much better. in the past, i had similarly bad experience with other tp-link products. i'll avoid them in future.
