Comparable, if not better than my WiFi6 router with speeds. Unfortunately it seems that the distance of reliable connection is less than my router? Might be because of the location of the device on the ceiling. No issues installing it. Setting up was decently easy. A tad bit big, super light and non intrusive light indicator. Used the browser interface instead of any app. A good selection of tools and settings for customization.

Great Product

Quality and performance at a great price. These units outperform the big boys at a far better price. I installed 4 of these to provide Wi-Fi at our hotel. We can have all guests connected and streaming, with no complaints.

I bought this to upgrade from a EAP245. The EAP610 is massive (unnecessarily so as the inside guts are not that big). Ugly on my ceiling where the EAP245 blends in and is flush against the system. As far as speeds go, I was getting 200-400mbps higher when standing right next to it (using an iPhone 13 Pro Max). Anywhere else in the house and I was getting the same speeds as the 245, so I ended up returning this.

I have been using a NETGEAR - AC 1200 Dual Band Gigabit Wireless Router (R6200) for about 4 years. It has served me well, but with the advent of the AX protocol, I wanted to see if I could get better performance (faster wireless) so nightly backups would take less time. I also wanted to take advantage of the mesh feature (once they produce firmware that actually works). First impression was surprise at the size of the unit. At 9-1/2 inches in diameter, it's not exactly inconspicuous in my living room. As for performance, wireless speed was only marginally improved. I have a gigabit FIOS internet connection, and I would love to be able to use more of the available bandwidth via WiFi. I was going to send it back for a refund, but then I noticed that the signal for both bands was stronger, so I could reliably connect further away. Now, I can connect to WiFi from my shed in my backyard! :-)

I live in a small home with wifi-eating metal-mesh-backed plaster walls - about 1800 sf including the unairconditioned spaces. I have never been able to get acceptable signal strength more than two rooms away from my wi-fi router. When I've walked around the house with a signal strength checking app on my phone, I've often gotten better signal strength from my neighbors' wi-fi when I'm near windows. I have turned old routers into access points before and hard wired them back to the main router. This has never worked acceptably. Over the holidays I decided to try and fix this problem (while the attic was cool). I have turned old routers into access points before and hard wired them back to the main router. This has never worked acceptably. Over the holidays I decided to try and fix this problem (while the attic was cool). I upgraded my router to a TP-Link WiFi 6 AX3000 Smart WiFi Router – 802.11ax Wireless Router, Gigabit Internet Router, Dual Band, OFDMA, MU-MIMO, OneMesh Compatible (Archer AX55) located in a corner of my house and paired it with this access point which I mounted to the ceiling of my living room (central room in the house). It is hard wired back to the router. It has worked flawlessly for more than a month now. I haven't lost signal or needed to reset it. It hands off to and from the main router without problems. I now have a strong signal in every room of my house. Some are still not at the highest strength, but it works well anywhere in my house and throughout my front yard. I did have some challenges mounting the AP to my plaster ceiling. I am a product designer and consider myself pretty handy. I didn't want to use any of the included options and just wanted to screw the mounting plate to the ceiling with some drywall screws. This turned out to be a real chore. If they would just increase the depth of the mounting plate about 1/8"" it would be simple. I modified the plastic part with a Dremel and then it was a simple installation. It could also use a more refined way to accept the incoming ethernet cable. These are minor issues. Overall I'm very happy with this AP.

I replaced my udm pro and ap's with the tp-link Eap610 and Oc200. The performance is better than my unifi equipment, and is cheaper. Setup was super easy.

So fast!
3 July 2022

My old Cisco APs went out and this was my replacement. I got Wi-Fi 6 specifically because I wanted to stream games for my Quest 2. The difference is astounding. This is incredibly fast and I would say is even faster than my USB 3 cable. The range is great too. It covers every foot of my 4000 square foot house and the half acre yard. Hopefully this gives you details you need when considering it. I love it.

This access point is awesome in all ways except size. When I bought it, I thought it would be about the size of the EAP265 and EAP245, BOY was I WRONG! This thing is HUGE! The aesthetics are a bit off-putting. I assume there is a reason it is so big, but I have no idea what that might be. The wireless signal is awesome and functionality and stability are amazing, too bad it's the size of a Volkswagen Bug!

Upgraded to this from TP-Link EAP245 V3 - which is a AC1750, compared to this AX1800. On the AC1750, I was seeing transfer rates of 35MBps standing next to the router. This one, at AX1800, is getting around 25MBps average. And this is trying all combination of channels and channel widths. (speed in BYTES not BITS) Signal does carry farther but is, from my experience, a lot slower.

Works well in a home, I'm planning to purchase another for the other floors and to distribute the signal to the lower floors better. As long you don't expect magic from WiFi, this AP does a great job and is a reliable, consistent platform. I've had Ubiquiti, but this was as good for the lower cost and has similar management capabilities.
