This thing may be designed in Japan, but I think it’s build in hell itself. It’s a beast! Easy to start, light, with a powerful motor that feels like it would be happy to run hard all day. We are on a large property, and after putting this thing through it’s paces today on thick veg, I would have no problems recommending this edger to anyone who needs a tool, and not a toy. Excellent.

I bought this recently after seeing many positive reviews and was originally in the market for a Shindaiwa (owned by the same company). But the Echo range seems to be a bit more readily available so I got this. Zero regrets, a little bit of setting up, mix up some 2 stroke and good to go, this thing is POWERFUL. Very happy with the purchase and a super reliable Japanese motor in it, this should last for many years. 5 stars for sure. If you're unsure about a new line trimmer just buy this, you won't use anything else!!

Just had it's 1st use and I am very happy with my choice. Did lots of research on cheap and more expensive brands and am so glad I went with this mid range option. It cut through overgrown thick wavy grass over 1foot long (Kikuyu) easily and after 1 hr of use, the only thing that stopped it was the small amount of line that was included (after a few 'bump feeds' it was empty). The length and balance of the unit is good (great for slightly shorter users like me). It was easy to start and overall I am very happy with the way it performed in its 1st cut under extreme conditions.

It’s a great whipper snipper, but it amazes me more people don’t mention the fact you can’t fit much cord on the spool/bump head. It’s extremely frustrating, and I have no idea why such a great machine would be let down by this flaw. If you use thick cord, don’t expect to fit much at all. Before you buy, make sure you check the bump head. It really lets it down.
The trimmer is excellent. It misses out on 5 stars because it doesn’t come with the speed feed head. A little extra on the price to include a speed feed would be well worth it. The head it comes with only holds 2m (2mm line but 2.4mm line does fit). Only about 2/3 of the 2m line is usable. The speed feed holds 6m of line. Bunnings- how about stocking Jakmax or similar speed feeds? Echo - how about including a voucher to buy a genuine speed feed head at a discount?
Bought this a couple of months ago. I have a huge area I mow and whipper snip. This thing smashes it!. I hate the bump feed heads as your spending more time feeding line into the head than doing the job. This one is very surprisingly easy to feed and your up and running an a minute. It's starts very easily. The overall length is great. I'm not getting a sore back from being hunched over all the time. I'm definitely looking at swapping more gear over to echo I'm that impressed. I thought this would never compare to a Stihl or husky. How wrong I was!
Here on the website it says that you need a 3mm line.On the shelf it says 2.4mmIn the instruction manual it says 2mm.The guys from Bunnings could not help.About the Echo trimmer. As the previous buyers said, it is light and comfortable to use it, however in my opinion it has 2 big cons.It consumes a lot more petrol, probably double than for example Ryobi and when you have to change the line you have to remove the head and wind the line manually which is a joke. Even Ryobi has the advanced technology of feeding the line without removing the head.
LightAmple powerQuite quiet for a 2 strokeVery good build qualityCons are it’s a little bit short… but I’m 6’2And the line feeder head is a pain to replenish the line BUT the line seems to last heeeaps longer for some reason on this trimmer.Completely satisfied with this machine and relaxed about the future with the 5 year warranty
Just brought this today. I gave it an absolute thrashing. I have a bank that was covered in weeds, long grass and gorse. Cut thru it all like a samurai sword. Heaps of utube videos avail if you wanna do some research. I had been thinking of a commercial grade model but this weapon has plenty of grunt. 5 year warranty too.
I LOVE IT!! Recently moved to a 1000+sqm block. After having various trimmers over the years I was not going to get some piece of junk. Read reviews all over the internet after seeing it on a USA lawn care YouTuber and was very impressed with this brand and model.I am a 6’7 female and not overly fit, in my late 30’s. This Echo is perfect for me. I can do my whole yard and not have sore arms afterwards. It has a great, soft rubber handle. Power is great - you don’t need to thrash it. And to start - first pull! No joke it just starts! I have had a Stihl, Husky, Ryobi, Aldi models and this is next level. Looking forward to seeing how this performs over the years to come. It may cost a little more but it is so with the piece of mind and stops your neighbours hearing ... MoreI LOVE IT!! Recently moved to a 1000+sqm block.
