Great product. Easy to handle and has the power of the petrol ones without the constant shaking! Only downside is trying to respool the line when it snaps can be a bit fiddly otherwise can’t fault this.

Purchased #1 trimmer in May 2022. After only approx. 3hrs use, it stopped working. No power. (Batteries are fully charged, not faulty as work on other DeWalt products & trimmer is free from debris) Returned to Mitre10 who sent to 3rd party to fix. After issue fixed used it about another 2hrs then same thing happened. Returned #1 trimmer to Mitre10 who swapped it out for brand new/ same model line trimmer. Used #2 trimmer approx. 5hrs total & same thing happened. Returned to Mitre10, who are sending to 3rd party to fix...third time lucky?? After a lot of research online & reading many forums my conclusion is this is a 'faulty model'. 1000's of people having the same issues... Ps. Mitre10 have been great to deal with through all this, I just hope #3 is better!

I have other dewalt tools. I can use my 5mah batteries on this beast then place another battery straight in. 18v is all you need, does the job nicely. Easy to change the string if you get stuck YouTube it. Low and high power setting. You can fold down in half for easy storage and transport. No oil or petrol which makes electric line trimmers the future. Buy one and check dewalt redemptions.

Bought to get an overgrown large garden under control. Using x2 5MAh batteries I was able to complete the task in one day. Used since to keep the grass under control when the mower was not working, it did an amazing job.I like the folding function on it, which makes it easier to transport. Feeds the line very well, initial line that came with it lasted a few big jobs.
It is very easy to use. DeWalt once again developed a functional and quality product.
As others have said. Petrol line trimmers have their weight at the back where the motor is. These have their electric motor at the head. But it is counter weighted by the battery to balance out. But after a few sessions with it. I prefer it over previous petrol ones I've used. Very quiet, no fumes, well balanced once you get use to it. Very compact and light, folds in half for storage. Couldn't go back to petrol now. It's quick and ready to use instantly. I run it on LO speed, and that is perfect to get the most out of your battery and easily enough power to cut grass. I'd say it's roughly 10 minutes per AH of battery. Obviously will differ in use and running conditions.It doesn't have as much power as petrol ones. But I guess that's where the 54v fits in. This line trimmer works very well. Nice light weight. Easy to operate. Doesn't rapidly drain the battery. Doesn't waste the cord. The cord lasts a long time.
I have had this trimmer for over a year now and i have yet to experience any issues. Important to note that it is quite front heavy so my wife cant use it due to the weight imbalance.
Good balance in your hand and cuts really well. The only complaint is that my previous trimmer was also an edger where the head rotated 90 degrees to trim concrete paths etc. This one can be tilted around in your hand, but the guard on the bottom blocks your view so you're cutting blind.
