This vice is far better quality than cheaper ones that look very similar. Unlike the cheaper ones, the jaws stay parallel if an item is gripped at one side of the vice only. The casting of the fixed jaw is far more robust, on the cheaper versions the casting is very thin where it meets the main base plate and easily shears off. The jaws also have a better grip hatching than the cheaper versions. This is well worth paying the extra few pounds, for a better quality vice. The cheaper version lasted two minutes before breaking.
