My Gaggia Classic provided me with remarkable service for 24 years but finally and suddenly gave up.I could have rebuilt it (a few repairs had been done over the years) but this was a chance to move up to a machine I had coveted for a long time. The ECM Technika V Profi (PID) is outstanding. It exudes quality, is beautiful to look at, is very quiet and can easily brew and steam at the same time. This is hopefully the last coffee machine I will need to buy.I will at some point plumb this machine into a direct water supply and perhaps also waste from the drip tray so that I can simply concentrate on making great coffees.

Very well made and of high precision. As engineer I really appreciate what it takes to execute a "polished" design. To me it looks as though the machine may have been damaged while out of the box the first shipping box but inside the inner box. Where the left front foot of the machine is located in the inner box it appears to have been dropped with the inner box damaged only in the left front foot location. To repeat, there is no sign of shipping damage on the outer box, only the inner. Very puzzling and very disappointing...The machine makes excellent espresso and I love the flow control. Still have some channeling issues but most of the that has been resolved using the high quality Saint Anthony Industries BT wedge leveler and ECM tamper station. The ECM S-Automatik 64 is an exceptional espresso grinder. As someone who loves to experiment, I will be ordering the IMS shower screen for the Technika and a curved bottom basket to be installed in the ECM angled bottomless portafilter.Looking forward to serving my friends great coffee!

Just amazingly great service.Ultimately then Todd and one of his Technical Colleagues, Nick K, answered/resolved my PID metric to Fahrenheit questions with easy to follow email instructions. Then, additionally, with their encouragement and watching Todd's video of a Flow Control Device installation, within 30 minutes. I easily had installed and calibrated the Flow Control Valve on the E61 group and had replaced the lower group spring. Really, it was an amazingly easy installation following their instructions. Todd and Nick, thank you so much for an amazing and great WLL technical support experience. This is why the WLL sales and technical support experience is second to noneI have a Profitec Pro 700 with Flow Control, in the North, back at home that I dearly love using every morning. The Technika V Profi PID with Flow Control is simply a beautifully crafted machine with flawless, pleasurable to the eye and feel construction details, delivering, in practice, beautifully tasty espressos, and with great steaming power for our milk based beverages. Having used the Technika both with and without Flow Control, before the flow control installation, I can say that ECM needs to carry a factory FCD version for sale. The Technika's FCD addition allows simply delicious lever profile espressos to flow into our cups. Bravo ECM and WLL.My only nitpick and suggestion for improvement of the Technika is for ECM to tap the bottom of the drip tray, plug it with a removal threaded plug, and provide the ability to have a permanent drip tray drainage line installed like that on the Profitec Pro 700 or the ECM Synchronika. Otherwise the Technika V is a perfect condo espresso machine for us.Why did we buy a Technika Heat Exchanger machine instead of another Profitec Pro 700? Well, the single boiler of a HX machine like the Technika V allows for far easier boiler and group water drainage compared to the drainage procedures needed for a dual boiler machine. This ease of boiler drainage makes it easier to prepare for those times, even long durations, when it will need to sit idle. Great, accurate sales advice from WLL's Mark Jackson. Before leaving Florida, I followed Todd's easy email and video instructions on easily draining the boiler and the group for "mothballing" the Technika before returning North. Nothing could have been easier, and I have my instructions for refilling the boiler, the heat exchanger, and the E61 group on our eventual return. Thank you, Todd and WLL, again. The Technika V Profi PID and the WLL Technical Service experience have both exceeded all of our expectations.

ECM Technika V Profi review

Prior to this machine, I had used a Rancilio Silvia & Rocky setup for about 14 years. That treated me well and I figured out the kinks to make a good cup of coffee on it (though everyone else in the family wasn't able to.) I decided it was time for an upgrade as I wanted something that's more consistent, easier to use, and can get to cafe-level quality that the Silvia very rarely hit.I upgraded to this ECM Technika V Profi after a recommendation from someone on the WLL staff. I upgraded my grinder to a Niche Zero single-dose grinder. It is quite a large machine coming from the Silvia. I've definitely had to relearn techniques for use on this machine with the single-dose grinder. It can certainly hit cafe-level quality coffee and has been fun to learn. My 11 year old daughter knows how to use it and can make a halfway decent cup as well. I'm pleased with the purchase. My previous distributor and pressure tamper was mid-shipping so it wasn't super consistent until those arrived. Now that all the tools are in place, it's been a lovely machine.I'm not yet using the plumbed line setup but will in the future.

Excellent Machine - Best yet
19 November 2022

We bought this machine about five years ago, after disappointing experiences with several other machines. We love the ECM.One recommendation we can make is to use mineral free water; we use Reverse Osmosis water. We did use regular tap water for a short while and almost immediately noticed mineral buildup in the valves. Minerals also would foul up the internals, including the boilers.

Love my ECM Technika
30 August 2022

Upgraded from a Breville Barista to this ECM Technika has certainly sped up my coffee making process in the mornings. The steam wand is amazing, need to relearn how to make silky milk, but wow is it fast and hot. This machine is beautiful to look at and fun to use. Still working on perfecting my espresso's, time practising will fix that. Love the fact I can control every aspect of this machine. This machine comes to temperature in a reasonable amount of time, and the pressure is great.Looking forward to years of great coffee experiences.

Two broken machines
10 October 2021

I decided on this machine after watching Whole Latte Love’s and others’ glowing reviews of ECM’s build quality and reputation. My first unit arrived with the steel baseplate and drip tray completely bent and twisted, all the dials were twisted and the knobs on all the levers were loose. WLL guessed this was a shipping accident, which maybe it was, though there was no visible damage to the box. After a few later WLL sent me a new machine. The new machine is actually worse. The pump makes a deafening vibration noise like someone else here has reported, and the steam unity is faulty too because it pulsates wildly and shoots water for an extended period of time and is totally inconsistent. The pump makes a deafening vibration noise like someone else here has reported, and the steam unity is faulty too because it pulsates wildly and shoots water for an extended period of time and is totally inconsistent. When I immediately reported the pump noise to WLL their solution was to send me an email telling me to disassemble the machine and sent pictures of how the pump should look relative to the reservoir etc. I’m sorry, but I just spend 3 GRAND on a machine and you’re solution is to tell the customer to take it apart themselves and fix it???? I don’t work for a coffee company, I’m not an espresso machine technician, I have a life with a job and kids and I’m not a mechanical engineer - I specifically followed your recommendations for this machine because it was supposed to be a safe bet for quality. It’s YOUR JOB to take it apart and fix it. I cant imagine any other scenario where you buy something complicated for 3 grand and the seller’s response when it arrives broken is “fix it yourself”. Just look at the other review here with the person who repaired it himself - kudos to him for really knowing what he’s doing, but look at what he had to go through! A normal consumer doesnt have the time or knowledge to do this on his/her own. It’s ridiculous. I am not happy with ECM or WLL. Dont buy ECM on “build quality”. Maybe they leave the factory in good condition but they need to take a look at their packaging. Here are three broken machines out of 20 reviews. ECM’s not a safe bet, it’s gambling with 3 grand. And WLL should be ashamed of themselves for telling a consumer to fix it themself, that is absurd.

Very satisfied with this purchase and with the continued great service from Idrinkcoffee.com. Information and updates about my order were communicated to me in real time and the shipment was received within a day or two of placing the order. Simply, outstanding service! This machine replaced a 10 year old Rocket Giotto and even though I was originally hoping to buy a double boiler machine, we are very satisfied with the performance of the Technika V. Wholelattelove Never Disappoints!!
20 January 2023

We have been purchasing our coffee machines at WLL for 20+ years. This year we were looking for a nice Espresso Machine and we were deciding between a few different brands. We called WLL and spoke to Mark and, before he recommended any machine, he asked a bunch of questions which really helped tremendously narrow down our machine choices. We bought the ECM Technika with PID and Flow Control. What a perfect espresso machine - it ticked all the boxes.Mark was super helpful, very knowledgeable but most of all, he tailored our purchase to a machine that was suited to OUR needs and wants. We couldn't be happier - Thank You - Mark! !
