If your ISP is DHCP, you will probably be ok. Im sure the mesh system would have worked great hadnt been able to be installed, but I am going to have to return the system. What a waste of time and effort for such a simple process. Eero needs to go back to the drawing board for static up setup.

Easy setup, solved my problems.

Great roaming WiFi range coverage!
19 May 2021

Great coverage, better signal range than my previous setup consisting of 4 units, an Asus ac-rt68 with another router in bridge mode plus 2 WiFi extenders. My house layout is long, and I now get coverage throughout the house plus the entire driveway and backyard. Easy to setup. Beware that if you plan to setup an additional node with a wired connection, that the node must be in wireless range of the primary node for the setup. I set one of my additional nodes next to the primary node prior to putting it in it's final location, which was out of wireless range for setup. The app provides very good information on devices connecting/connected to the network. The router/ truemesh works flawlessly. The routers lack tweaking but if your are patient they handle clients loading efficiently. If you use Ethernet backhaul these unit are fast. The really only thing lacking is USB connection for printer or hard drive.

[Rewarded Review] Amazing Router/Wifi that improves itself
17 October 2020

I've had the tri band system for 2 or 3 years. It is over the top awesome. I used to have to reboot modems, routers, etc., but new ones every two years (very expensive ones) and still had issues. The eero updates itself every night and I have not ever had to reboot. Twice i had issues with it, called their incredible support and did not wait long on hold, and they showed me it wasn't the eero, it was my device i was trying to connect. And they were nice enough to help me set up these new devices. I read about all of these people asking if they have Spectrum, ATT, North State etc. which one works, which one does not. In my opinion, they all work, you just need a Eero hooked up to them. I used to have 5 or 10 people over and people complained they couldn't get on the wifi i paid a lot of money for. with eero, i'll have 25 people, plus 30 to 40 home devices on it and no one complains. It also blocks a lot of threats etc. Updates itself, and has great speed and coverage. I have a 4,000 square foot home, two levels. I have one at each end of the house, one up, and one down, and one in the middle of the house. so get great coverage in my house and yard. I would normally be looking to buy a more upgraded router by now, but not with the eero, it just keeps improving itself.I also have it test the speed of my connection once a day and it keeps a record i can use with the carrier if i ever have an issue.Great app that allows you to control all kinds of things. It has guest access, etc. The newer ones allow you to use Alexa to turn guest access on and off, and do other things.

[Rewarded Review] Decent options with OK mesh network performance
2 October 2020

I moved into a new house that had two of these already installed. The coverage for them weren't great, so I had to pick up a third. Even with the third, the network performance isn't great when there are a lot of people on the WiFi.Additionally, the max throughput for the WiFi isn't that good either, especially with Gigabit fiber. I had two Netgear Orbi mesh endpoints at my previous house, of a similar size, and had much better coverage and performance. I may switch back to them. The software that runs on them, as well as the phone/tablet app is very good and has a ton of nice features. The configuration is dead simple and they have decent documentation on their website. The one feature missing is the ability to schedule firmware updates. [Rewarded Review] Love the eero routers. Pro model is great for gate
16 October 2020

The eero routers have been working flawlessly for me after having router troubles with at least 3 different router brands for many years. I purchased the pro router after installing 3 of the regular eeros because I needed to move one of them to the garage for better coverage to cameras and door opener. The pro replace my gateway eero router, since it is the one with more power. (Follow steps in support article to replace the gateway.) In hindsight it may have been better to get all pro models, but it works well this way, and the pro is more expensive. Also note that eero is soon releasing another even faster version. I recently upgrade my speed with Xfinity. Now I'm consistently getting speeds of 250 to 300 Mbps! Love the eeros!

[Rewarded Review] Stellar router and experience

I recently took a job that deals with sensitive information, so my router that hadn’t been updated in over three years had to go, especially with the VPNFilter malware. I wanted something fast, reliable, secure, and I was also hoping for a beautiful mobile app.eero meets or exceeds all of these marks. I consider myself pretty tech-savvy, but I didn’t want to deal with complex router set-up, including configuring band steering. To steal from Apple, I wanted something that “just works.” I debated for a long time – do I go for the premium-priced eero even though I live in a one-bedroom apartment and don’t really NEED an eero? Do I go for a 1st-gen? Do I get some other ugly router with 20 antennae?Ultimately, based on reviews and recommendations from colleagues, I ... MoreI recently took a job that deals with sensitive information, so my router that hadn’t been updated in over three years had to go, especially with the VPNFilter malware. Do I go for a 1st-gen? Do I get some other ugly router with 20 antennae?Ultimately, based on reviews and recommendations from colleagues, I bit the bullet and purchased a 2nd-gen—I decided with congested apartment living, I wanted the tri-band experience. I figured I can always add more eeros later on when we move to a bigger place, so a single eero wasn’t overkill by THAT much. I regret nothing. The router is FAST. I have a 200 mbps connection, and anywhere in my apartment, I get between 190 and 210 mbps via Wi-Fi, with just the one eero. The router’s already had an update since I got it (I’ve only had it a week). My Google cast connections, which frequently dropped out on my old router, are rock solid – I didn’t even know I was having router issues in this regard before, but things are perfect now.The only thing I don’t like about it is the number of ethernet connections – I did have to buy an inexpensive network switch, because between my Raspberry Pi, NAS, and TV, I needed a few more ports, but that’s a minor quibble.I’ve also reached out to support for a few different things, and they (and their CEO!) have been absolutely superb, exceeding my expectations for customer service. Between this router’s performance, its security, and the overall eero experience (including that great mobile app I mentioned I had hoped for!), you can’t go wrong with an eero (system). Kudos, Nick.

Customer Reviews seemed mostly very positive.3. Customer Service assured us that the installation would be fast/simple, and the network would remain rock solid.Like we always do on significant purchases at Best Buy, we added the (4 year) product replacement extended warranty ...Installation. Fairly fast, fairly simple.Instead of adding this new 2nd Gen unit as an extension to the 1st Gen units, Customer Service firmly advised us to install this new unit as the main Router (connected to the Modem), and have the old main unit become an extension unit on the network. With Customer Service (willingly/patiently!) on the phone, adding the new 2nd Gen unit to the network was straightforward, and (by running speedtest in the area with the weak signal), we optimized the new location for the third unit (which interestingly was NOT the closest location to that weak area ... but was somewhat closer to the main Router).Bottom Line Results. Two thumbs up.1. "Weak signal in one area" problem solved.2. The eero app was upgraded. They moved the speed test history ....Customer Service can show you how to find it (the activity symbol).3. The Wi-Fi network remains rock solid (knock on wood).4. The 2nd Gen unit does indeed seem backward compatible with the 1st Gen units.5. We continue to be delighted with our eero mesh Wi-Fi network ... and delighted with Best Buy.We routinely recommend both to our friends.6. Yes, the price seems high ... but in this case it yields stability, quality, reliability, and peace of mind.To quote eero in the "About eero" section of the eero app: "Finally, wifi that always works."
