These are very high-quality units, and you can tell when unpacking the box. They are heavy and much larger than most mesh units of the similar type. The box even includes a handle that makes removing from the box easier. Setup is very easy and there is not a web interface. You just need to download the EERO app and follow the step-by-step setup instructions. I was unable to get connected through the Bluetooth pairing and scanned the barcode on the bottom and it connected with no issues. The app is very easy to use and rather simple. I wish it gave the option to separate out the 2.4, 5 and 6 WIFI bands since some older devices can only connect on the 2.4 band. Combining all the bands is what WIFI 7 is what the protocol utilizes to maximize bandwidth by passing data through all three bands on one device to provide optimal performance. It took a few tries, but I got all my legacy devices such as video doorbell, garage door opener and outside light switch connected on the 2.4 band. The app allows you label each connected device and shows what band they are connected. Performance speeds have been great, and the second bridged device connected with ease. A good and bad is the fact to use all features you need to subscribe for $10 a month or $99 per year. I feel this is not a bad deal since you get parental controls, (3) license for Malwarebytes, a 1Password management subscription and VPN through Guardian. The router also has imbedded security that works to block malicious content. The units are a shiny white and have a pleasant, curved shape that looks good anywhere in your home. The high-end features support the premium price and I recommend to anyone looking to future proof their network from a trusted company.

I’m impressed, if you have an existing Eero network (like I did), upgrading to the Eero Max 7 routers couldn't be easier (in short, even though I quickly replaced all router nodes, everything stayed connected that was connected). To do the upgrade, I just opened the Eero app, hit the plus icon on the upper right, selected add or replace router, chose to replace (because they advise that combining networks may result in slower performance), and followed on-screen instructions. As someone who has had to re-do all the WIFI connections after getting a new router in the past, I was greatly relieved with how easy this was. If you're new to Eero, know that if you stay with Eero in the future, upgrades should be easy. The theoretical speeds advertised were impressive, with about 4.3 Gbps on WIFI and close to 9.4 Gbps on ethernet (there are two of those ports, and two 2.5 Gbps ports). Those ethernet speeds are more useful for connecting to a high-speed modem. Our home ethernet is still wired for 1 Gbps. I'd need to replace the cables and switches throughout the house to get the faster home ethernet speed, and I'm not sure I want to invest too much more for wired ethernet devices. As far as the fastest WIFI 7 speeds go, I checked and my three main devices (a 2023 15" MacBook Air, a 2023 Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra, and a 2023 HP Envy Move AIO PC), and none of the devices supported WIFI 7. As a result, I could only test for WIFI 6 speeds (and WIFI 6 and most older WIFI standards are supported, so it's very compatible with existing devices), and they were comparable to a little better than the older Eero pro 6 network. It appears WIFI 7 is still new, and as new devices come out, I know I'll be ready for them. Each Eero Max 7 router covers "up to 2,500 square feet", I will say as much as two of these router nodes seems to be enough to cover all of our house, plus gets a signal all the way to the edge of our property line (might be slower at the farthest distance, but the signal was usable). One thing I love about the Eero routers/app is the automatic updates they do. I usually don't have to think about it; it notifies me when the update happens, and by default, they occur in the middle of the night.I'm very happy with the Eero Max 7 and love the Eero brand in general (I've recommended Eero to family, who also purchased Eero routers). The Eero Max 7 is much larger than our earlier Eero routers, but that's likely because it's the most powerful. Given the lack of current year WIFI 7 devices I currently have, I would say (1) if you're upgrading, there may not be a rush, (2) But if you're replacing or installing new routers, I would start with a system like the Eero Max 7 so you're ready for newer devices that support it which may be out or coming soon.

I've gravitated toward Eero products for the past few years thanks to their ease of use while offering good set-and forget wifi performance. I am on gigabit fiber and I used a 3-pack of Eero pro 6 for the last 2 years with great reliability. The pro 6 gave me around 300-600mbps download speeds depending on location. My ISP recently offered 2 gig speed at a reasonable price and being the tech guy I am I decided to jump on it. I replaced my Eero pro 6's with these max 7's and I now get 600-1500mbps depending on location, and thats only on 6 or 6E devices. You can have the satellite units (which are technically identical to the main router) wired or wireless. If you use wired ethernet to connect the other units, make sure you wire the other two units "downstream" of the main router unit.As with previous Eero products, these are very, very easy to set up. They use an app for everything and it uses the amazon cloud to provide continual data about your network that works the same regardless of if you're at home or not. You can see how much data each device is using and set various parental controls if desired. The app is well designed and easy to use. There aren't as many advanced wifi options as some expert users might want, but for those who want an easy option that works well, Eero is great. They are incredibly reliable and the max 7 appears to be no different. My main complaint about Eero systems have to do with the subscription to Eero plus. I used to have a $3/month one from them that provided extra functionality such as ad-blocking and other protections as well as more detailed data consumption and analytics. They had a $10/month tier as well which adds things such as 1password and a VPN service. Sadly, Eero discontinued the $3 tier and you now have to pay the $10/month even if you never want to use 1password or the other services. I wish Eero would bring back a cheaper subscription tier which doesn't have the extra services most won't use.For most users, the max 7 is overkill. If you have gig speeds or less, the pro 6 or pro 6e is good at a much lower price. But for those with a super fast fiber connection looking for an easy to use friendly app based wifi system, look no further.

We've been wanting to upgrade our home Wi-Fi system since we knew that 2 gigablast was soon to become available in our area. We have 40-50 devices connected to our home network on a daily basis. This Eero Max 7 is able to handle that, and more. After doing a basic Speed Test, I found that our internet download and upload speed numbers had gone up. I noticed that there seemed to be less delay when scrolling through my streaming services both on my Smart TV and mobile devices, and videos appeared to play more smoothly. But what really mattered to me was the stability, consistency, and reliability of the connection for the various devices on our home security system. Here is where I initially noted a stark difference. Usually, the security cameras don't immediately update to the present time and show what is happening outside. Often, I have to manually refresh their feed. However, since upgrading to this Eero Max 7, within moments of checking my security cameras, they refresh themselves and display those all-important current visuals.Network security is important to us. And Eero has built-in features to assist with that. In the app, you are able to not only see how well your internet is performing and monitor every device connected to your Wi-Fi, but also check your system's activity to see how many threats were blocked and on what device, etc.Be aware, this unit is huge! It measures 8.75" by 7.25", so may take up a bit more room than the router you may currently be using. Not that this is a 'downside' by any means. While this Eero Max 7 is "hefty" it's built really solid, sits securely on my TV stand, and looks as modern as it truly is.So far, we're beyond impressed by the overall performance of this Eero Max 7. Eero, in my experience, is one of a select few tech brands which I have no reservations recommending.
Out the box I was impressed with the design and look of this router. I was very hopeful and impressed with the performance in the same room or even a room or two away but as I moved to the opposite side of my upstairs the performance drops significantly from averaging 600 Mbps on my phone down to 250 Mbps at best. From a wired perspective the 10 Gbps ports really do allow for full speed of your ISP with me consistnely getting the advertised 1 Gbs up and down with my AT&T Fiber connection. Within the house when wired I was able to consistenly hit 950 Mbps download and wireless with my gaming desktop 680 to 700 Mbps.I also put the additional node downstairs in my living room and had it hardwired via one of the 10 Gbps ports back to the one setup as a router and ... I have a TV outside on my porch and before wiht my old Linksys WiFI 6 router with multiple nodes I could easily stream to my 4K Fire Stick with 130 Mbps but with these I only get 25 to 30 Mbps and have incurred more buffering issues since putting this setup in place. For this price point my biggest complain or gripe is the fact that many of the "Premium" features are blocked behind a pay wall. At this price point I was not expecting to have to pay even more for premium features. It also has NO WEB INTERFACE. This setup isn't aimed at more computer savvy people being that it is locked into only a phone app to do all the configuration. I also haven't been able to get the Router to take my custom IP settings so I could easily have my other devices and static ip devices on the same subnet.Pros:- 10 Gb's ports and wired and in room speeds are great- Smaller and stylish loking without any protruding external antennas- Use of other newer generation Amazon Echo Dots to extend your network coverage and meshCons:- Premium features locked behind a pay wall- No web interface to configure and make edits to the network- No USB interface to allow for external hard drives to be plugged- Speed through external walls diminishes extensively unless you have a node right next to a window or the external wall- Only 4 wired ports on the back of the router- Overpriced still even as one of the first in this generation of WiFi 7 routersOverall it has good speed but power user features still locked down or behind a paywall is a bit of a slap in the face for a router at this price.
Overall the eero Max 7 mesh routers deliver great wireless coverage and fast throughput. Each node has two 10gb and two 2.5gb ports for Lan, backhaul and local ethernet connections. There is no usb connector for attaching a usb device but it does support Zigbee and smart home devices. The one negative with the eero Max 7 is the high subscription cost ($10 monthly or $100 yearly) to get parental control and access to more of the router’s performance data such as security statistics, blocked threats and scans against your network. There are other components included with the subscription but most of them aren’t necessary if you already own a total protection virus software.Setup and Performance: Setting up the eero routers were very simple and straightforward. After ... MoreOverall the eero Max 7 mesh routers deliver great wireless coverage and fast throughput. After downloading the app on my iphone I decided to install the base station first to see how much of my house it actually covered. Using the same SSID and password allowed most of the devices to rehome without issue but some I had to power off and power back on to get them to connect. I was delighted to see that the new eero router actually provided better coverage than my older router. Next I put the remote eero in my office where I had a backhaul ethernet cable to the base station. I connected the two using the ethernet 10gb port and then added the second eero router in the app. Everything showed up correctly and the remote unit obtained the wireless credentials automatically. I have no way to verify this but the app shows that the backhaul connection between the two routers is connected at a 10gb rate. In my office I have an eight port switch which I connected to the remote eero router via the 2.5 gb ethernet port and all my devices worked as if they were directly attached to the base station with little to no delay or loss of throughput. I did several speed test to verify that connecting via the switch through the remote eero to the base station eero saw very little to no difference to connecting directly to the isp router. I have 1gb to the house and I was able to get speeds over 900 gb on my pc connected to the remote router which is connected via the backhaul cable to the base station so wired connectivity at 1gb rate is no issue. The wireless connectivity proved to be better than my existing wifi 6e router as well. Sitting within line of site I consistently would get low to mid 300 gbs on my existing router. With the eero Max 7 I would get in the mid 400 gbs which is a nice improvement. I did this testing using my iphone 15 Pro and a high powered laptop with both of them connecting using wifi 6e protocols. When testing with my older laptops using 802.11ac (wifi 5) the numbers dropped into the mid 200 gbs to 300 gbs depending on the distance from the routers. Overall I have seen an improvement in coverage as well as an improvement in speed from a wi-fi standpoint over my prior wi-fi 6e mesh router configuration. I do not have any wi-fi 7 devices yet but its nice to know that this router will work with them when I do upgrade the devices. Also because each router has multiple high speed ethernet connections on the back I have found that they are great for wired connection such as a connecting a NAS or a switch.App and Subscription: This is where I think the eero Max 7 loses a star. While the app is simple to use it limits the information that the administrator has to control and understand his network. To get more control and information beyond the basics you have to subscribe to a $10 monthly or $100 yearly plan. This means to have parental control or information on websites accessed by your children you have to pay a premium. The subscription does offer VPN and additional protection such as safe search, adblocking and anti-malware protection but if you already own a full protection antivirus software you don’t need any of this. Lastly the subscription does give you insight into the network traffic and activities of the routers which sadly should be included for free with every router.
Coming off a TP Link Mesh 6, unboxing the Eero 7 Max was a little eye opening. The size difference had me thinking, geez where am I gonna put this massive thing. The TP Link that I had was a 3 router system and disk shaped that was approximately 8" in diameter and about 2" high which made it easy to put in discreet places. This Eero is much much bigger but does so much more so well worth the trade off in my opinion. I wanted to be able to tuck it somewhere but the manual says to not to place the unit anywhere that it would be obstructed for the best wifi connections. The setup process is super easy. You can go to their website where there is a step by step video which, especially for a person like me, made it an easy process. The first thing you have to do is download their app because you cannot setup this unit through a regular computer, then create an account. Because this is an Amazon product, I was able to sign up using my existing amazon account. The app is very simplistic with not a bunch of options so it was easy to navigate. I can see how some techy people might want to be able to do more with this, but for me, simple is better. I used my old wireless name and password so I didn't have to change everything in the house and it worked seamlessly. The back of the unit has 4 ethernet ports, 2 that can go up to 4.3 gbps speed and 2 that can go to 9.4 gbps. I don't have speed that fast on my home internet so I can't verify if the unit is capable of that. But what I can say is that doing a speed test, I was able to get faster download and upload speeds than my TP Link. My TP Link only had 1 ethernet port and that kinda sucked because my son, who is a gamer preferred a wired port so he took that. Now, I can hard wire my surveillance system and television and other things to the router and not worry about wifi signal. And, more importantly for me is the range. I have a single story home under 1500 sq ft but my lot size is around 7200 sq ft. I not only like using my laptop other wireless devices in the front and backyard, I have wireless surveillance cameras that I really want to have a good connection. And so far, this unit is amazing. I've been able to stream, video conference and just basic internet use with no hiccups and no lags throughout the whole property. I even went across the street in front of the neighbors house and was still getting wifi, although definitely not very fast. It is a pricey unit but I really think that with most homes, everything now is connected to wifi, and most people would be surprised when they realize how many things are connected to their router. This Eero will not only get you faster speeds but make all connected devices for stable.
I have a new Surface Pro 11 with Wifi 7, and since my network at home has a 10GB switch, with a 5 GB card in my media center and a 10GB card in my Synology, I figured it was time to get the wireless going better for my file copies to and from the Surface.First I tried the Archer BE800 which was an unmitigated disaster. Three hours of factory resets and trying over and over, and it was just utter junk. This one - I disconnected everything I had existing (a mesh system of Deco units and an Asus wifi router that was the main unit here) and plugged one of these behind my T-Mobile home internet box. And within about 3 minutes, I was up and running and had a whole bunch of my smart devices (I have about 180 smart devices on my home network) already connecting. I ... And within about 3 minutes, I was up and running and had a whole bunch of my smart devices (I have about 180 smart devices on my home network) already connecting. I plugged in the second one, used a wired backchannel, and that was about 3 minutes to completion. Before I could even get back to my laptop the app showed the majority of my devices already back online (since I used the same SSID and password for simplicity).I had a brief moment of worry when I couldn't see the option to change my IP for the local network to a 192.168.1.x since all my devices for my media and such are hardcoded, but a quick google search showed me to ignore what the app showed and one you get to the next page you can enter other specifics. And it worked without any isue.Still have some tweaking to do since my wireless copy speeds from my Surface Pro 10 aren't good at all, only about 50% faster than I was on the Wifi 6 Asus, despite my wireless link showing a 5764 Mbps connection speed for the Surface. I know the things I'm copying to and from are insanely faster, and the switch also verifies that everything has an actual speed for the wiring where it should be. So time will tell if I can get that working better. But I like the simplicity of this setup. Not normally a fan of app setups (I'm a CTO of an IT consulting company, been working computers for over 40 years, so I'm used to and normally prefer a good web UI with tons of options) but this app setup was painless and let me get everything changed I needed to get changed from within it. That is a first for me.More expensive, but the thought process of getting what you pay for usually plays out, and in this case it did. Unless something drastic goes wrong now out of the blue, I've got nothing here to dislike other than the short power cords.

Without a doubt, it was one of the easiest setups of any device added recently and was completed from opening the box to online in less than 10 minutes. I was replacing a wifi setup from a competitor and was expecting crossover issues, but this was not the case. All that’s needed is to download the eero app, connect the router(s) and walk through the installation process in the app. A single router covers 2,500 sq. ft. and additional routers can be added to cover up to 7,500 sq. ft. spaces. In my case it’s a two-router mesh setup and easily supports our 3,800 sq. ft. home with 32 devices currently supported. Setting up the multi-router system is a breeze and all done through the eero app.The eero app is also a great addition to the Max 7 system, with many features to manage your internet connection, users, routers, etc. It’s required for setting up and managing the system. The free version provides a plethora of settings and control features and eero also offers a subscription model with additional security, backup and parental controls to name a few.Overall Impressions – the eero Max 7 is a breeze to set up and once up and running it’s sort of a “set it and forget it” device. Firmware and software updates can be set to auto-update and the app will manage to network and report any issues. So these routers are FAST, they are built for speed, but for my needs what really shines is the coverage. I have multiple Wi-Fi cameras outside, a home office with multiple computers and peripherals and our personal devices (which add up quickly between laptops, tablets, watches, phones, etc.). The eero Max 7’s mesh coverage has not wavered since set up was completed. My previous system would often drop the outside cameras due to lack of consistent coverage. And yes these routers are fast as expected, speed tests have averaged 435 Mbps download and 13 Mbps upload speeds. Although as mentioned previously, a majority of devices don’t yet support the Wi-Fi 7 platform, I’m happy to know that this router will support our needs for many years to come!Pros:- Ease of set up and use with eero app- eero app is more than adequate and additional features are available through subscription- Fast, fast, fast and rock-solid mesh coverage- eero Max 7 is esthetically pleasing and fits into our home and office décor- Routers easily cover our 3,800 sqft home with mesh support between 2 routers- Four ethernet ports – 2 x 10 Gbe and 2 x 2.5 Gbe- Support for 100+ devicesCons:- Can only be set up on mobile device with eero app – not a concern for me personally- May be user error, but many devices on the network are listed as “Unnamed” in the app.The eero Max 7 Tri-band Mesh Router is the future of Wi-Fi and it’s here now! I would recommend them to anyone looking to update their home or small office wi-fi setup. They are fast, signal strength is rock solid, and they look great too!
eero Max 7 has introduced Wi-Fi 7 in my home office, now to have a look into the near future of wireless networking. It does look amazing amid our techie entertainment system and blends smoothly with our décor.Box opening, the routers were bit larger than I thought from online pictures, apparently full of highly cool tech stuff.Setup. Most incredibly straight forward router installation that I have ever worked on, have performed hundreds of corporate, mid-small business and home router installations over the years. And of course, the ongoing maintenance of systems. Hands down, the eero installation with the app is the smoothest plug and play system I have ever had the opportunity to install. And that speaks volumes when compared to most router installations. The setup is simplified and believe any level of user would find they can easily install in their home network quickly and with little effort. It is really that easy. What is Wi-Fi 7? To put it into perspective, Wi-Fi 6 was a step-up increase in speed over Wi-Fi 5, Wi-Fi 7 on the other hand is all about heart pumping adrenaline-driven fast connections. In industry speak you have “802.11be EHT," for ‘Extremely High Throughput.’ That is what Wi-Fi 7 is, the fastest breakthrough in wi-fi technology since wi-fi was introduced in 1997. It is remarkable how fast and safely we can now transfer data through the air.We have several computers that have Wi-Fi 6e and we have excellent response rates with the new eero Max 7. One is a new Alienware laptop with Killer Wi-Fi 6e AX16190i 16-Mhz Wi-Fi adapter, running a steady solid 2.4 Gbps. My wife’s Dell laptop is also pulling a solid 2.4 Gbps throughout our home.Keep in mind when computers and devices are updated to Wi-Fi 7, they will be running at 4.3 Gbps!!! We’ll be waiting in line for the upgrades. How ever you cut it, 4.3 wireless is smoking fast.Run several sub-nets on our home network and switched over my entertainment center sub-net by simply unplugging the existing router and plugging in the eero. With DHCP running on the main eero all my equipment switched over automatically. The only issue I had was a TV and Dish Joey in one room which required a reboot to hook up with the configuration. Too easy.Notes:- With eero’s wired speed up to 9.4 Gbps the wired network will be quick. An understatement.- One eero provides 2500 sqft of coverage - Two eero’s provide 5000 sqft - Three will be 7500 sqft- Supports Bridge Mode- Ethernet Standard 10/100/1000/2500/10000- Frequency Band 2.4 GHz, 5.0 GHz, 6.0 GHz- Wired Backhaul - “Also known as Ethernet backhaul or backbone, this capability can be enabled to directly wire a secondary (mesh) router or satellite to the main router via Ethernet cable. This connection allows for faster and more stable data upload.” Wired Highly Effective- * First tested the two Router Nodes wirelessly from one side of home to the other – speed was incredible- eero Max 7 App is exceptionally well deigned and intuitiveOther Notes:- Cables are short - ethernet cable 3” - power cable 5”- Lack of Web Interface - Closed System - Must use app- No Firewall (that I am aware of) but with subscription there is offer of security? The first router that I’ve worked on that placed paywall in front of security.I am a power user with an extensive state-of-the-art network and sub-nets running in an environment that sports five routers and five switches to manage/process our data requirements. Our new two node eero Max 7 quickly found a way into our network displacing a three-router mesh system.Besides the sheer power and cutting-edge technology of the Max 7 was how easily I was able to join the router to our network. The Max 7 has some serious smarts and programming built into the gorgeous case. When joining the eero Max 7 to our complex Entertainment and Internet of Things (IoT) sub-net, which is the net my wife uses, the system just snapped into place.Anyone considering taking the dive into Wi-Fi 7, along with future proofing your system and running at the cutting edge of speed I would recommend having a long look at the eero Max 7.
