Improving on the B6 - a speaker with accolades from the global press and awards from industry professionals - was not an easy task. But constant improvement is what ELAC does, and the Debut B6.2 raises the bar for bookshelf performance higher than ever before. Its silk-dome tweeter features a wide-roll surround and takes response up to 35,000 Hz for even more lifelike high frequencies. The waveguide improves directivity control and eliminates the diffraction modes inherent in traditional box enclosures. The revised shape of the aramid cone offers even greater stiffness and damping, far superior to polypropylene or paper. The added strength allows more flexibility in design to achieve a smoother, extended low-frequency response.

I am used to listening to KEF Q300 paired with a Marantz PM5005 and FiiO M9 DAP. This setup sounds quite good, however the male vocals sounded a bit lean. Bought these ELACs with the expectation of fixing that and it does. The ELAC has fuller bass and male vocals sound nice now. Also the ELAC even if bright enough, does not fatigue my ears easily, probably because the upper midrange is not overdone and the tweeter is soft dome.Overall good speakers for the price sounding close to a HD650 headphone.Purchasing and delivery experience was very good, no hassles.

Andrew Jones design is a clever approach to make a below average crossover network and decent cheap drivers mounted in a laminated ported box. The price tag at under $300.00 retail a pair is fair and nothing for Elac to be ashamed of. The sound quality of these speakers is what you should expect for the price paid, in a garage or game room these are spectacular but fall pretty hard in a dedicated audio room with higher end electronics as it should for the price. To sum it up if you are looking for a great sounding play room or garage you cant go wrong here, just be aware at this speakers price point due to sub par electronics and drivers will not satisfy in the short or long run in a dedicated audiophile set up, so you may want to keep looking and saving money to ... MoreAndrew Jones design is a clever approach to make a below average crossover network and decent cheap drivers mounted in a laminated ported box. They look fine but pretty boring speakers. No highs or lows and muddy midrange. Unfortunately I ordered them online through a marketplace seller. I wont make that mistake again. Way to much trouble to return them and I would have to pay for shipping. Then get charged a 10% restocking fee. I'll either sell them privately or drop them off at Goodwill. I don't recommend these speakers no matter how cheap they are.

ELAC Debut 2.0 DB62 Bookshelf Loudspeakers (pair)
24 December 2021

Part of a 5.1 setup with all ELAC D2 62 except for the sub [Klipsch for $160 at Costco hard to beat]. Towers in front A 62 center and 62 bookshelves for surroundSound is fairly the same tonally across/around the listening space. Tone is a little bit 'tubby' But I have done no optimization or run [Denon AVR1400] Audessy yet. Imaging is sometoimes astounding and sometimes not but I believe it's the source material. Because of these speakers I have found the the DD/+ varies a lot whether using a HiSense Roku TV vs a Sony BluRay as the streaming device For the price[s]; hard to beat occasionally astounding sounding and not sure if I work harder at it that it can't be always very good.

I was looking to get deeper Into home audio for music and music production. I’ve never owned a pair of passive speakers and only used active monitors for a while. I researched for days, looked at different reviews, did the homework on the technical stuff and settled on these based on quality and value ratings.I got some advice and decided to go with the Denon DRA 800H 2-channel receiver that gives about 120 watts per channel. Paired with the receiver amps, they sound powerful, have a wide range and nice punchy lows. Once my pockets can afford it I’ll get a subwoofer but I’m in no rush. The highs and mids are clear and cut through so nice. The lows are accurate and punchy but it won’t pound your chest like a subwoofer can. Great smooth sound with great looks.

I was reluctant to purchase these speakers as all the reviews said how fantastic they sound with a good quality source. However, most reviews stated that they would show up the flaws in poor quality sources. As I mainly play MP3s at 320 kbps I was worried what they would sound like. Well, I need not have worried. My MP3 collection has really been brought to life by these excellent speakers. Cds and Flac files of course sound even better. If you are planning to buy these speakers you will not be disappointed.

Great sounding speakers, well built.

I bought these speakers to replace my 6Y old Polk M30 but decided to compare them to my 22Y old Mordaunt-Short MS207 floorstanding 3way speakers since the $80 Polk can’t be in this game . So here it is- Speakers are built very well with high quality materials and heavy speakers. Sound is great, soft and natural. To my test the high are little too sharp and metallic. The speakers really open up at relatively higher volume than expected from 87db sensitivity speaker. I used Arcam alpha 9 CD and Amp with directional audio-quest cables ( RCA and speakers) . The MS207 are detailed and spatial with rich sound, the deep and tight bass and soft highs with exceptional natural sound allows you to listen for hours w/o getting tired. I can't say the same about the Elac Debut 2.0 DB6.2. However, I'm also not comparing apples to apples, the Elac are just different and I’m sure some will love those over the MS207 which is a typical British soft natural sound. I would say that the Elac are quality speakers with good sound for most part and are detailed enough with decent bass for the size. I would give two thumbs up for $$ per value !! also thanks to Music Direct for excellent price, service and fast shipping and communication. I gave 4 stars because of the metallic high and sensitivity requires higher volume.

Nice sounding speakers
29 January 2023

The reviews on the ELAC speakers made me feel confident about this product. My room configuration is not ideal for listening to music. I was forced to put the speakers in opposite corners of a 20x15 room. The speakers are still new and need more time to break-in, but I am very pleased with the overall sound. My ear is not as refined as the some reviewers, but I consider ELAC speakers to be fine quality and good value.

Not the loudest, superior build, great for games

So I’ve been doing a lot of research for the right speakers, I won’t say “budget” because I feel it’s the rich people that are writing reviews and calling things that cost several hundred dollars, “budget” items. I initially wanted Klipsch because I had heard a Center Channel Klipsch somewhere so I was blown away, but I couldn’t find a matching set of 3 speakers, (that’s what everyone recommends, I don’t care if your L&R don’t match with Center). Anyhow these aren’t the loudest but they sound amazing. I did get their Elac Center, however these are quite good for dialogue that you don’t even need a Center. Where I could tell a difference was, while gaming, these are phenomenal. You do have to turn them up a bit. Wonderful sound out of 2 bookshelf speakers
6 August 2021

These sound awesome connected to my 2 channel Arcam SA20. I tweeted Patrick Norton and he recommended 3 different speakers in my price range and these DB62's were one of them. I've read he has a more expensive pair of Elac's and raves about them, so I chose these per his suggestion. Man, for the price, I don't see how they can be beat. The sound is really great coming out of two bookshelf speakers. I think the porting has a lot to do with it. It has enough bass to sound great while still giving me clear vocals, mid's and highs. It reminds me of listening to a pair or quad setup from the 80's or the adults in my life in the 70's (yeah, I'm old), lol. We didn't need a sub to shake the stucco off the house, just some great lows and these do that. I'll leave the sub to ... MoreThese sound awesome connected to my 2 channel Arcam SA20. Thanks Patrick for the recommendation should you ever see this.
