Electro-Voice Evolve 50 Portable Column System

$1,199.00

(376 reviews)

The EVOLVE 50 Portable Column System is a three component loudspeaker system powered by a 1000 W Class-D amplifier and driven by Electro-Voice's QuickSmartDSP. The system consists of a 15 mm wooden, ported, powered subwoofer enclosure that houses a 12" subwoofer capable of a functional frequency output down to 37 Hz. The bi-directional aluminum pole's connection to the subwoofer is secured using a magnet, and the column array is gravity-held to the sub pole. The signal is internally routed to the components. Eight 3.5" neodymium drivers in the column array coupled with the 12" subwoofer delivers up to 127 dB SPL. The eight composite waveguides control high frequencies with 120 degrees of horizontal coverage, and 40 degrees of asymmetrical (down-facing) vertical coverage to ensure suitable output for sitting and standing audiences. The sub pole and column array come prepackaged in a carrying bag. The processing engine allows for easy setup via four presets (Music, Live, Speech, and Club), three-band EQ, five user-programmable presets (Store and Recall settings), output delay, phantom power (+15V), visual monitoring of limiter status, input level control and meters, and master volume control to ensure optimal gain structure. The new Electro-Voice QuickSmart Mobile application utilizes Bluetooth Low Energy (BTLE) technology for the wireless configuration, control, and monitoring of up to six EVOLVE 50 systems simultaneously. High resolution Bluetooth audio streaming adds convenience for wireless music playback in breakout rooms, intermission, and musical accompaniment.

When I tell you these are the best pair of speakers I've ever owned. I've used JBL,Samson,Behringer, in my life time but nothing comes close to my pair of Evolve 50. The Style the power that they put out is something else. The sound is crisp and clear, when I first the thought about getting them I passed them up going to get a band I was use to. Than a year later found out that I made a mistake. One day while in Guitar Center as I always make a b-line to sound section, you could feel the floor vibrate. It was Evolve 30 playing just the one side. I knew then I had to get a pair of the 50's and I've never looked back. I do small events as well as large events with my set. Getting one is fine but just thinking about how two would sound with double the power.

The Evolve 50 is excellent and amazing. I tested it, at the same time, against practically every contender, same audio sources, along with 2 discerning, respected, and brutally honest musician/techs. Of course each system has it's strong points, but the bottom line is that the Evolve 50 covered every base they did, with power to spare. I've used it loud and soft, large and small, in indoor and outdoor environments, and it's always amazed myself and the audience. Tech Magic. EV's Evolve technology is powerful, articulate, smooth, and musical. The simplicity is there too - it's easy to setup, soundcheck, and be ready to go. In the end it's the magic that counts, and the Evolve 50 delivers.

The sound is so crisp and clear. It’s the easiest to set up and take down. They fit in my Honda Civic so easy, so I can do multiple events from my gas saving sedan. I love that I can connect my phone for easy streaming when necessary all while having my controller and other connections to the speaker. The bass could be a little bit more ground shaking but that’s not an issue at all. I hope these last me for the rest of my life.

So I have been a DJ for over 30 years. I invest a lot In my sound and lighting. I first bought the turbo sound ip2000. I actually loved the system especially the surprising 12” sub. Amazing bass that is delivers but I had a terrible time hearing the highs and mids while stand onside or slightly behind the speakers. I always carried extra monitors with me for that reason. That kind of defeated the purpose of trying to be portable. The Evolves solved that problem. The clarity is amazing. I can also hear the highs easily with the speakers on each side of me. Definitely my go to system for wedding gigs.

I used a pair of the Evolve50's for a wedding gig at a good-sized community center - similar in size to most hotel ballrooms, maybe a bit bigger, with a high ceiling - and they did not disappoint. Crowd size was right around 300. I had a full 4-piece rock band running thru them for a couple hours and then DJ'd the rest of the night. The Evolve systems received a lot of attention and many compliments from attendees concerning both looks and sound quality. The low-end response is impressive compared to similar models and the top end is very crisp and clean. I was also pleasantly surprised at how much volume I could push while DJ'ing later in the night without any worry or signs of clipping, all while sounding great! I usually take some ample time before I make a purchase of this magnitude. As a Dj, I am very particular with the equipment that I purchase. Two years ago I purchased the ETK series from EV and was impressed with those. As the industry changes I wanted to invest in something more sleek, modern, clean. It is easy to make a pretty speaker but one that packs a punch???? Intro the EV Evolve (white). These speakers are quite AMAZING. I was excited to start to use them right away. They arrived on a Thursday and were in use for an event the day after. I was so impressed at how clear, and sharp the sound quality was on these speakers. The ease of set-up and breakdown, using the app to control multiple speakers (yes I have borrowed my colleagues speakers to have 4 speaker set-up). Soooooo, Thank you EV for a superior product that I truly believe in

EV Evolve 50 Makes Me Sound Good.

As a solo performer with acoustic guitar and vocal, I have tried many products to find a speaker that would give me an accurate reproduction of my guitar. I had some issues with my 5th string feeding back with the Evolve 50 in my rehearsal room, more than usual, i notched the frequency and put a feedback buster in the sound hole. I used the Evolve 50 at a party of about 40 people, in a warehouse, with a friend playing bass through my mixer into the EV. Lots of compliments, and no A string feedback. I believe the EV Evolve 50 is a good buy compared to other products in its class. This product, in my opinion, will work great for solo acts, up to small cover bands. I would use an additional subwoofer if the band is using PA to support Bass Guitar or Kick Drum. I have not tried plugging directly in and probably wont, as I need reverb to make it sound the way I want. When I read reviews I always want to know a little about the reviewer to help weigh their opinion. I studied Audio Engineering at Belmont University in Nashville TN. and have toured with Grammy winning bands as the FOH Engineer. Simi-Retired now...making music instead of mixing it.... Thanks for reading, I hope this helps with your decision.

I am a professional audio engineer and an acoustic guitar / singer soloist. I have found a few speaker systems that deliver accurate sound and many more that do not deliver. I purchased an Evolve 50 a little over a year ago and it is now my go-to speaker for performance. My Martin Guitar sounds as natural as it possibly can and I love the way this speaker reproduces my voice. I use an Audix OM5 for my cabled vocal or a Shure Beta 87A if going wireless. I could not be any happier. So far a single speaker has covered all of the different restaurant venues that I play. The Evolve 50 will get quite loud behind me, as I use it as a personal monitor and my Front of House System. There are two venues I play that I either wear in-ears or use a foldback monitor with the Evolve 50 in front of me, to avoid feedback because of the SPL needed to cover the crowd. I have never been a big Electro Voice fan, but I love this speaker and recommended over the B*** or Turb****** **2000 or J** everyday. It reproduces keyboards, guitars, voice and tracks with amazing clarity. I pair my Turbosound IP15B with these to do ballad bands an DJ work. I mix through a Soundcraft UI16 with iPad control. See my review on the Evolve 30M.

This is a very nice system. The sound is very clear and the bass is surprisingly very good for a 12inc lower frequency system since it cannot be considered as a full-blown subwoofer. Overall, this system is very good and it's by far better than a stand-alone 12inch full range loudspeaker.
