ES339 Figuered

Just some set-up to my preferences and guitar was ready to play out of the box. Dreamily comfortable to play standing or seating. Perfectly smooth feel - for sure frets were Pleked (I Pleked couple of my guitars so I know how to recognize frets shape and levels after that job). Nut is cut perfectly - that is very, very rare among brand new guitars. Intonation is perfect ! Pluged to Marshall JTM loaded only with Mullard, Blackburne NOS tubes, gives beautifull sound, bit compressed and sustained. Small touch to volume knob and amp is breaking up. Neck profile bit more chunk then ES335 Dot but bit less then Les Paul 50s (I luckily own both guitars)- I think that kinda neck gives that amazing sound. Epi 339

I'm pretty much a Gibson/Fender guy for the last 50 years but, always liked that 335 tone. I just couldn't get comfortable with the body size. Along comes the 339. I had owned an Epi or two over the years so I took the plunge based on everything I had been reading. I have my guitar tech dress frets and tweak necks on every guitar I own, including Gibson. So I knew I had that investment to make. When I pulled this out of the case I knew it was a keeper. Yes, I swapped out the wiring harness and put in some Pearly Gates but, that's just what I do. This was darn good with the stock electronics in it.

Epiphone ES 339 Pelham Blue

Overall:A lot hear for the money. A fret polish with 400 thru 2000 grit erasers make for much smother bends. Raise the tail piece, install some Ernie Ball super slinky’s, set intonation, adjust the bridge/truss rod to minimize buzz and the guitar plays great. Is has hot pickups and you get a good range of control from the electronics. The sound is like a Les Paul with more shimmer and sustain. Other than the paint on the inside edges of the f holes, the fit and finish is excellent. Again a lot here for the money. I have top of the line Les Pauls and Tele’s. This guitar will be invite to some gigs!

I was a bit apprehensive about buying this guitar on line, as you're never quite sure what you are going to get, especially as I've never been a huge fan of Epiphone guitars. I'd played a few ES339 models in stores and I thought they were OK, but I wasn't blown away. I'd just bought a much more expensive Eastman 339 and I was looking for a cheaper alternative that I wouldn't worry so much about it getting dinged or stolen when I was gigging, so I thought I'd take a punt on the Epiphone. All I can say is that I'm blown away by the quality, sound and sheer playability of this guitar. In terms of 'feel' I actually prefer it to the Eastman, which may be partly down to the strings which feel slightly lighter than on the Eastman. I've always thought that semi hollow guitars feel kind of strange when played unplugged - something about the way they resonate differently to a solid body which, I guess, is only to be expected, given the nature of the construction, but the Epi feels almost solid body-like when played unplugged. I recently played the Epi and the Eastman side by side in a band rehearsal and the pickups to my ears, were every bit as good in the Epi as the Seymour Duncan JB and 59 in the Eastman with singing sustain when played with a lead sound. Although the neck isn't massive, it is a nice chunk of wood that fits my large hands extremely well. I've heard reviews of this guitar on YouTube playing everything from Jazz to heavy metal and it seems to handle everything that's thrown at it. I bought the vintage sunburst version and I'm really tempted to buy the cherry version as well

Excellent value and quality

I was a bit nervous about buying a new guitar but thankfully, the staff at PMT put my mind at ease; despite being busy, they gave me a practice room to try the ES-339 out (with an amazing amp! ). I coyld have stayed all day!This guitar has great sustain and very versatile. I was looking for a good quality medium prices jazz guitar sound. This ticks all the boxes.The action was spot on and the grover machine heads keep the guitar in tune.It is light to pick up and smooth to play with a stunning finish.Great quality at a low price for what it is. 10/10.Thanks, PMT.

Great Value, Great Guitar!

I was a little worried buying a "scratch and dent" sight unseen, but the price was great and I figured if it was horrible I could always return it. Well, this exceeded expectations by a mile! The only defect I could find was a small (smaller than a pin head) dent need the input jack. Now, the guitar itself is great.I like chunky necks, and this has a '59 roundish neck. Very comfortable. Nicely equipped with Grover tuners, Graphtech nut, CTS pots, etc. The pickups sound pretty good, maybe a tad hotter than vintage PAFs. Doubt I will change them. Over all, great bang for the buck!

Review of Epiphone ES-339 in Natural

Very pleased with ease of ordering through website and subsequent delivery with robust packaging. Similarly the guitar undamaged and looking great as I had hoped.Very slight inaccuracy in painted edges of f-holes but otherwise impressive craftwork. Very easy to play without any initial action adjustment but intonation needed tweaking a little and personal preference, I will probably swap strings from 10's to 11's with a wound 3rd. An hard case was ordered separately from yourselves, again no problem but including a decent case or gig bag in the package would affect overall price I know but for me would be a better option and ease the buying process.

Combines the best aspects of 335s and Les Pauls.It's also heavier than I thought it would be (again for me a good thing, I don't like feather-light guitars) I was expecting SG weights and annoying neck dive.As suggested already it seems to sound somewhere between a full-sized 335 type and a solid body, which again isn't much of a surprise. Seems to have more twang than my LP which is good for my taste, which is more soul and funk.The finish is also perfect, though slightly different to the one advertised at the time of purchase. The neck fades into a natural varnish rather than the all-black paint. an outstanding guitar in every respect

I have always wanted a 335, but did not like the larger size. I saw this 339 and stepped up and bought it home. Had to wait 6 weeks, but was it ever worth it. This is the best guitar I have ever played or been around. Cannot make my mind up if it plays better than it looks, or if it looks better then it sounds. It came set up really well, intonation and all. All I had to do was tune it and go. Cannot find one flaw in the paint, assembly or anything wrong at all. It rings so true, holds a note and there is a major difference when selecting either pickup or both, and the tone and volume controls lets you have an infinite setting control on tone and volume. Just strike your favorite chord and let it ring...beautiful fun. I was worried about the neck thickness, but it is a non issue. Easy to chord, simple to fret in any way you please.
