Fret ends aren't terrible but could use a bit more polishing.

Overall:The YouTube reviews just don't touch on why a metal player has been waiting decades for Epiphone to get smart on the Epiphone sg metal players really want. This sg can do Frank Marino, iommi and Angus young tones easily. The pickups are mid voiced with some bass and high end. I can eq the pickups to recreate Eric Peterson/marshall tones with this sg too. I put 9s on this guitar because I play speed metal and EDM, 10s are too stiff.. It's a really awesome classic rock and metal sg. 24 frets, medium slim neck, locking tuners, great tonal config, no more ugly stupid looking headstock!! It's a winner bigtime!

I haven’t been listing over new guitars as the SG Modern makes me feel like I’m not missing a thing. The guitar came with a decent set up from the factory. The frets were smooth. I did have to hit a couple of the frets with a crowning file, as they were a bit proud. A couple of the nut’s slots needed a pass through with a file, as the first fret notes were a little sharp. Intonation at the 12th fret was perfect out of the box. Out of 24 guitars I’ve bought in the las year, this one required the least attention.Value:This guitar is a bargain. Game Changer

Overall:I played guitar for years and stopped for a few years due to family issues and personal reasons and got back into playing regular awhile back but something was missing and just couldn’t get back in the flow of things like I was before. Fast forward to ordering a new guitar and decided to give this a try. I really vibe with a vintage type of guitar but play a range of music and this fit both older and modern music and man a amazing guitar for the price. I have practiced for hours and hours daily since receiving this guitar it just makes me want to play it makes it enjoyable and it’s so smooth. Cts electronics, coil split, phase switch grover tuners and a ebony fretboard for under 600$ you can’t ask for more. Will definitely be ordering again soon!!!

Great guitar

Finish on body is excellent. Fretwork wasn't perfect, it was pretty good, but it is an Epiphone. I don't like the strap buttons that came with this thing. They are very pointy in an eye shape. Needed intonation adjusted. But other than that it is an excellent guitar.

Overall:I ordered this to get in on Epiphones' Inspired By line while they are still available. I bought a Slash Les Paul gold top and I knew the quality is way above the price point. So, with finger's crossed, I opened the box and took her out. I was NOT disappointed. Every thing on the guitar is perfect. Not one single sharp fret, no buzz, no blemishes in the finish. I started to play it about two in the afternoon and I could not put this guitar down for more than a few minutes for the next 16 hours. This is my first SG I have owned, though I have played many others. The feel is top notch. I cannot remember an SG that felt or played as good as this one. I just cannot say enough good things about her. She just feels and sounds like a very nice and expensive guitar. zZounds had her here in two days, as promised. Very happy with this guitar. I would give the sound, price and quality 6 stars.

Impressive SG

Overall:I've had my SG Modern (Honeyburst) for about a week now and I'm very impressed. I've always liked the look and feel of the SG but sold my old Gibson SG Standard because of the "neck dive" issue. It just drove me crazy. This Epiphone version seems much better balanced. Perhaps the Maple cap is adding just enough weight to help with balance. As far as the pickups go,I wasn't a big fan of these Probucker pickups in the new Les Pauls, they seemed muddy and un-responsive, but they seem to come to life in the SG body. They're brighter and clearer here. And with all of the tonal options at hand with the coil-splitting and phase inversion, it's impossible not get a good tone. The playability of mine, out of the box was pretty good. It only took a minor neck adjustment, a little intonation tweaking and some new strings to get it just right. The only modification I've made was to swap out the ugly clear knobs for some reflectors. The Ebony fretboard looks and feels great, especially at this price point. A big step up over the Indian Laurel on most other Epi's.The asymmetrical neck is just freaking perfect, it really feels natural and is my favorite feature of this guitar. It fills the hand but makes chording and lead runs almost effortless. Changing strings was a breeze with the Grover locking tuners and the nut was cut very well on mine. No tuning issues at all here. I had been wanting to add an SG to my collection and with all of the features on this Modern, it was the clear winner over the other models. If you're also looking into a new Epi SG, I'd go for this. It's a great playing, great sounding guitar at a really good price. It's really fun to play. Plus, it's a unique, cool looking finish.

Running this guitar through my DSL-1CR into an external 1×12 on the Ultra Gain channel is Shred City. But the clean setting is great, too.I wholeheartedly recommend this guitar. The price has come down since I bought mine last year so it's an even better bargain now.My 5-star rating is based on guitars in this general price range.

Overall:I just received my Epiphone SG Modern yesterday and I was pleased to find that there is nothing about this guitar to disappoint me. It looks beautiful, sounds great and plays extremely well. I'm not going to comment on all the different aspects of it because I can sum it up by saying that this guitar has no weak spots. I can see and feel a higher level of quality in this guitar. Epiphone has done a fantastic job of upgrading their line. The addition of CTS electronics is a big plus for me and the overall quality of these guitars has noticeably improved. zZounds said this would get to me in three days and it only took two. Great job!

Overall:Just got this in red fade this week. Beautiful piece all over. No workmanship issues. Great feel to the neck. Very light and fast overall. No fretting issues. No setup issues. One small adjustment to string height, and intonation was already spot on. Threw some quality strings on it and it rocks the house. All the coil splitting and phase options def give a huge tonal variety with this piece. I’m swapping p/u’s out for some Gibson 490/498’s as the factory Gibson SG’s run. This will beef the sound up 100%! The Grover’s, and cts electronics are very nice appointments as well! Only downside would be the stock pickups, hence the lower rating . They sound solid with good cleans, but get a little muddy when trying to reach high gain or crunch. A little breakup ... MoreOverall:Just got this in red fade this week. Beautiful piece all over.
