Took advantage of a discount for a manufactured refurbished unit. It does not come with a ceiling mount as is included with new units, but I already have a projector mount. Also happy to note that the "runtime hours" was zero -- was not sure what to expect with a refurb, but either they zero out the hour count or ensure a new laser is installed. This is a very nice drop-in replacement for the 5040UB with identical throw ratio and the thing I really like about Epson projectors -- the motorized zoom, shift, and focus which makes for a very easy setup.Compared to the 5040UB, brightness is improved, fan noise is reduced by quite a bit, laser should mean consistent brightness for many years, and with 4K Blu-ray disks the picture is sharper. To the casual viewer, the brightness is the biggest difference and during the day in a light-controlled room, it is noticeably brighter for watching sports. The only thing I do not like is that a white version is not available. This would help disguise the unit against my white ceilings as I am not using the LS12000 in a dedicated home theater. Now I have to take the time to do a vinyl wrap on the projector.

Really love the versatility of this projector. We were able to move it into several locations and the ability to shift the frame. The brightness and clarity of the picture are amazing. We ended up mounting this on the ceiling so the mount that came with the projector was super helpful. We did have to get some other mounts because we mounted on a sloped ceiling but the parts were compatible so we made it all work. This is just a fantastic projector.

Bought the Epson ls12000 projector from CHT Solutions after spending a long time deciding which projector to get.CHT Solutions provided friendly and professional service. Took the time to show me the Espon in action and chat about HT in general even though I had already bought the projector. Highly recommend them to anyone that is thinking of HT Gear.Really happy with the projector. Easy to setup and throws a great image.

Variation Reviewed: Epson LS12000 4K Home Theater Laser Projector with 2700 Lumens - BlackAn amazing Projector. Very powerful with such great colors compared to my old projector. The image quality is so sharp and with great spectrum of colors which makes it look realistic. Some of the best things about this one are the black colors it's able to make which are impressive, and the fact that you can watch it during day light which is amazing compared to other projectors.
All of the images are projected on a 1.1 gain, 150 white screen in a dedicated home theater with complete light control. The projector is ceiling mounted at the rear of the room. The first three are live tv shots using the standard cinema image setting (50% brightness). The only lighting in the room is fairly dim upward lighting on the ceiling. The next three are a very dark scene from an Avengers movie. One is with all the lights in the room on, one is with only the upward lighting on, and the last is with all the lights in the room off. Pros: -For this room setup, the projector is plenty bright. The colors look vivid and fantastic. -At lower brightness levels, the projector is very quiet. At higher levels, it still isnt loud, but the fan is noticeable. -There is ... At higher levels, it still isnt loud, but the fan is noticeable. -There is no noticeable lag when gaming on an Xbox series X. -Black levels/darker scenes are pretty good, but do not look as good as on a high end TV. Cons:-Compared to a TV, getting a good looking image is a lot more work. The projector could be angled too much up or down, could be turned too far left or right, could be rolled slightly to the left of right, the screen could be crooked, etc. In addition, the projector lens controls are maddening. Unlike almost every other control option, the lens zoom and focus controls do not have any visible range or numbers displayed. Therefore, you cannot easily compare different options. If you alter the focus one direction, then its impossible to know if you returned it to the setting it was at to start with. -The image settings could use more explanations. What am I supposed to assume Vivid, Natural, and Dynamic mean? -Switching from one type of source to another (for instance, Hulu to Disney Plus on an Apple TV) takes much longer than on a TV. Its probably at least 5 seconds, if not longer. Overall, Im very happy with the purchase, but it has taken way more time tinkering with the settings to get to this point than I expected.
After reading countless projector reviews over many months, the two main contenders were the Sony (5000 4K version) and the Epson. I had the opportunity to see the Sony in action at the Chester branch, and was a little underwhelmed to be honest, so much so, it ceased to be a contender.I did ask if I could see the Epson set up and running, but that wasn't possible, but The guys at Richer Sounds suggested I try it at home, which I did. On first start up - our reaction was WOW! The picture is bright, colourful, detailed, and that is just from mainstream BBC. Haven't tried 4K discs yet as the player I bought at the same time hasn't come in yet, but can't wait for that. Wimbledon, the Euro's, and the British GP all look absolutely stunning - can't wait for the Olympics now!
I purchased this PJ back in April 2022, and received it in September 2022.Ten months later, I am still loving the picture! For the price, this projector is tough to beat. The contrast levels are about the same as the previous Epson 5040 and 5050, but that is not a bad thing.Don't let others mislead you on the whole "it's not really 4k". It may not be a native 4k panel, but the projector does bring you a full 4k image (all addressable pixels) via shifting. The advantages to having laser as opposed to lamps are evident right out of the box. The color fidelity is purer as there is no bias from a traditional lamp. The projector also runs a bit quieter and cooler then the previous lamp based model. This projector is VERY bright. You could pair it with a grey screen or an ALR screen, and you would still have a great image that is watchable with light in the room! (see attached pics)I have been a projector enthusiast since 2005, and this is my sixth projector setup. By and far this is THE BEST image I have seen in this price range.Lastly, Epson's warranty simply cannot be beat. Five weeks into ownership, my LS12000 started to make a buzzing sound (lens shift mechanism), I called up Epson, and within 32 hours they had the replacement unit on my doorstep. The replacement unit has had ZERO issues.HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
This thing is amazing. The picture quality can’t be beat. I’m sure there are features on this I will never use, but it doesn’t matter because of the viewing experience. I like that there is an automatic lens cap that opens when it powers up and closes when it powers down. The startup time is the best I have had on a projector. I haven’t tried to use this in a fully-lit room, but when I dim the lights a bit, it is just perfect. Watching movies feels like you are in a theater. Watching sporting events is like you are in the stadium. Looking forward to many more years of this pristine viewing experience.
Loved it, the picture quality was great, it was amazing for playing games at up to 4K 120hz. Movies were also great but manually adjusting the HDR slider and lack of dynamic tone mapping seemed to be a missing feature for the price.so now for the bad stuff:less than 6 months of use and 600 hours at 75% brightness, I got a small block of dead blue pixels in the central viewing area and a portion of the screen yellowed in a vertical column on the left side. Epson has a good warranty, IF you are willing to accept a $5000 refurbished unit after less than six months on your new one. On forums people who receive a replacement often have more dead pixels or a very noisy fan or pixel shift unit. If I knew I would be getting a refurbished unit for my 5000 dollars, I ... I have total tech protection on it, so maybe Best buy can cover it with a new unit. But unless $5K means less to you than it does me, I would consider a different brand.A expensive projector should not fail this early in its life, and that failure should not stick you with a refurbish one.
