Essence Lash Princess Sculpted Volume Mascara 12 ml

I decided to give this a try this evening when I went shopping with a friend as I felt pretty impressed with the essence I love extreme volume mascara (the one in the pink tube) and wanted to give another one of their mascaras a try as well, partly for comparison purposes, partly just for fun, I guess. Overall, I was happy with this mascara because in terms of lengthening and defining my eyelashes, I felt that it did just about a perfect job of it! It also added some darkness to my lashes. The one thing I with it was better at when used on its own was curling my lashes/helping them hold a curl, which it largely did not do on its own. My lashes are genetically flat and hard to curl in general anyways. I will include some pictures of the effect of the lash print volume mascara on my lashes alone (very little curl if any) compared with lash princess + I love extreme volume, layered together (more curl). I really like both mascaras overall and feel that for me the worked well when layered together. Btw, for people with genetically curly lashes, I do think it would be fine do maintaining your curl when it is applied; it's more just that it does not really *add* curl to your lashes when used alone, rather than layered with another mascara. I will also mention that the wand for this mascara has a unique spiral that you may like (I think I mostly did) but may take some getting used to using to apply your mascara if you haven't used this type of wand before. 👁️ ❤️

I was pleasantly surprised by this mascara! I bought this at an ULTA by the check out. I couldn’t pass up the price. It sat in my beauty area for a couple weeks, until I opened it up. Right away I was wowed! Before this mascara I was using “better than sex†and have been for the last few years. Right when I put the Lash Princess mascara on- my lashes were a lot longer and fuller! It also works great with multiple coat, as some mascaras start rebelling after the first coat. Staying power was great.. stayed all day, no flaking and a cinch to remove. The only reason I’m giving this mascara a 4/5 and not a perfect 5/5 is due to the fact that the mascara declines with each use. It doesn’t work as well on the 3rd week as it did the first week. You do need to be careful as the wetter formula can get messy pretty quickly and I often find some smudging once it's been applied - you need to wait some time because it takes a while to dry down. It's really easy to just wipe away with a tissue/cue tip. The mascara provides volume and length. You need to be careful as the wand does apply a lot of product and it can get clumpy - I like to use a clean spoolie to separate the lashes once the mascara is applied. I've never experienced any flaking. I do get a small amount of transfer on my upper eye lid/brow but as I have oily lids I experience this with almost all mascaras. It wipes off easily so this isn't a deal breaker for me. It provides volume which lasts all day, even when I work a 13 hour shift. Overall 4ï¸ âƒ£/5ï¸ âƒ£ - you can't beat the quality of this mascara for the price, and I'm definitely buying this one again! Before trying this mascara, I had tried Essence’s I Love Extreme Volume Mascara and I liked it, but I wasn’t amazed by it. However, I have heard a lot of people rave about this specific mascara from Essence, so I’ve always been on the look out for it but could never find it anywhere. I did finally find it at Ulta a couple weeks ago and it was extremely affordable at $4.99, so I decided to test it out finally! I absolutely love this mascara now! It actually lengthens my lashes, which I had never seen before with other mascaras, and it doesn’t make them clumpy either. Furthermore, I like the wand of this mascara a lot more than the other one I tried because it is much thinner and the bristles are more defined. This mascara definitely gives you a lot of bang for your buck!

Use curler if u have straight lashes cause even though this one gives volume but after 3-4 hours definitely they would fall lil straight but still your lashes would be prominent. Whenever I’m not wearing makeup, I wear mascara and it instantly makes them look open and awaken. It’s more on thicker, chunkier side like it’s sister green one. I like both. For comparison I’ve added both with their wands. This one has curved wand which makes lashes more Curley. Green one on the other hand glides smooth. But you can see I have so many purple ones. YALL... THIS. MASCARA. Once you get the hang of it, this mascara is THE HOLY GRAIL. I stock up on this one AND the blue AND the green. They're all *chefs kiss* and the price is unbeatable. I've gotten all my friends to switch to Lash Princess and they love it too.Let me start by saying that I use almost every mascara in the Lash Princess line because it's cheap enough that I can do that to decide which one I like best without feeling guilty (in college I tried more >$5 L'Oréal and Maybelline mascaras than I can count). This one is my favorite and I often layer it with the other Lash Princess mascaras when I want a "wait- those are your real lashes?" look. I really like how I can get to the lashes in the outside corner of my eye with the *peak* of the curve *instead of the tip* of the wand where product builds up. This wand + this particular mascara + this technique gives my eyes the winged eyeliner look *without any eyeliner.*This stuff is DARK, DEFINING, and LENGTHENING. One coat does the job if I just want a lil pizzazz while I run errands. I WANT TO ADD that yes, this mascara can be clumpy, BUT all you have to do to combat that is apply with a lot of quick upward strokes while blinking. This helps the wand act as a brush instead of a spatula. When you try to start slowly at the lash roots and wiggle it up (most common way I've seen ppl apply mascara), the spatula action happens and you're left with a ton of product at the lash base and weird clumps that catch onto your lashes from the sides of the bristles.

Reading the reviews on this I'm really shocked because people mention flaking. All mascaras will flake to some extent whether it's obvious or not. Not a fair judgment call. This mascara I brought on a whim since I never tried the original Lash Princess I got this since I have curly lashes and I love volume. I did a comparison with my bad gal bang by benefit which I keep buying and I will continue to buy , this really is a dupe for it. I got the exact same result. Essence's mascara don't dry down hard on the lashes which may contribute to flaking but also it's a pro in my book. Cheap mascaras tend to dry down too hard and irritate the lash follicle for me which is why I keep buying benefit's mascara. So if you are lash junkie who understands that flaking is usual especially in non water resistant formulas, run to the store don't walk to purchase it!!! It's only $5 which if you can't buy your usual expensive mascara this will suffice as a backup!!!!

It does the job, but that's all

Does it curl like it claims it does? Yes. Does it add volume? Some. Would I recommend it? Probably not. The price is great, however I'd recommend one of the other Essence lash products over this one (and over other brand's mascara). I can get my eyelashes to look fairly good using this product but it takes more time than other mascaras like Essence false lash effect. It was also a little on the drier side. Maybe I got an older mascara that was closer to an expiration date, but the mascara was already hardening when I opened it.

Love It!

I absolutely love this mascara and you cannot argue the price. I used to use Too Faced mascara but just couldn't justify the price anymore. I find Essence mascara gives the exact same effect for a fraction of the price. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because of the packaging or rather the lack there of. It threw me off that all their mascaras do not have some sort of cover to ensure that they have not been opened. This is an eye product it's very important to ensure the make up is sanitary. I understanding wanting to reduce plastic usage, but perhaps even a small box that is recyclable would suffice.

really love this mascara

i have short lashes that kinda cave in under my eyebrows because i don't have a lot of lid space and wear glasses so often it's hard for eye looks to show in frames and such. i bought this awhile ago and i really love how it turns out. you really don't need to curl or prep your lashes either. it's very pigmented so I suggest especially if you have a brand new tube to go with a light hand. the wand is a little large so i would be careful as you may want to avoid it transferring to where your undereyes are if you accidentally blink but it will come off easily if that happens. it doesn't run on me and I like that it stays in place. love essence I also have the green tube this ones my favorite.
