Essentials Icing Sugar Mixture 1kg

Good baking staple. I found that the icing sugar mixture is a lot softer and fine in comparison to other brands which I liked as it whisked easily into cream and dusted lightly on brownies. The flavour is also good and great value for 1kg. Like the Essential Brown Sugar I recently tried as a sample, the packaging was not very appealing or enticing which is consistent across the Essentials range. I would of preferred that the packet could be re sealed after opened to ensure it was kept fresh but also avoid any accidental spillages. The remainder of the product is now stored in an airtight container. Would re-purchase again as I found the quality of the icing sugar on par with brands names.

Sweet as (icing) sugar. The Woolworths Essentials Icing Mixture Icing Sugar is perfect for dusting and using in baking. I used this powdered sugar for dusting my muffins and for a sugar glaze on my cinnamon scrolls (family favourite recipe by @ajohn993). The icing sugar doesn't harden once the pack is opened and is 100% satisfaction guaranteed. It is made in Australia from atleast 95% Australian ingredients. The packaging also has the Bonsucro name which has a lot behind it for ethically sourced sugarcane growers. I will try to purchase more products with this certification (thanks for mentioning this in your review @tristia). This sugar is a perfect addition to my pantry.

Performs reliably, probably gluten free? I typically buy a name brand icing sugar mix as I know that it is gluten free, as many supermarket own brand options contain gluten. The Woolworths Essential Brand seems to be gluten free but there is no information about this on the packaging, only the absence of a 'this product may contain' warning. The product could be improved by displaying this information more prominently on the packaging for customers in a hurry. Quality-wise: I bake many cakes very regularly, so finding affordable staples that perform consistently is important. This icing sugar mix is finely milled and having bought a few packets now I find it has never been lumpy.

Good Quality Product. The icing mixture is a good product. The taste compares favourably with other brands. It is reassuring to know that it is bonsucro certified. Bonsucro promotes sustainable sugar cane and aims to reduce the environmental and social impacts of sugarcane production. It therefore creates lasting value for the people, communities, businesses, economies and eco-systems. The icing mixture was good to use in baking and sprinkling over desserts. It is also good value and would consider buying again in the future.

Cheap and great quality. The timing was perfect on this product, as I had a birthday cake and cupcakes to make for a kids party. I’d actually already bought a pack of this icing, in preparation of making the cakes, so I tested 2 bags of it. It had some small clumps, but that’s to be expected with any brand or type of icing sugar/mixture. The taste was normal. It blended really well into a great buttercream. I would buy this regularly as my icing mixture of choice, as it’s cheap and does the job. It’s also 1kg instead of 250g or 500g, so you don’t have to buy 50 little bags and pay through the nose for it. I’m super happy and impressed with this product. Makes the Best Chocolate Icing. On Sunday we visited the grandchildren, it's so wonderful to be able to. They requested chocolate cake and asked if they could ice it and have lots of sprinkles. I used Essentials icing sugar mixture to make the icing. I love this icing sugar and use it all the time. No lumps and it mixes really well. The grandchildren had not trouble spreading it over the cake. Made in Australia from at least 95% Australian ingredients. It is Bonsucro certified, which means it promotes sustainable sugarcane production. The cake was a great success. I have purchased this product for a long time and will continue to do so. Excellent Woolworths Essentials Pantry Staple. I always buy woolworths Essentials pantry staple products when available & they never disappoint. They are as good as brand name products & a much better price - this icing mixture was no exception. I actually preferred this to a similar brand name product which I have found has gone lumpy in the past. it was perfect timing to receive this just prior to Christmas for Christmas baking needs. Decent icing sugar. Packaging - bright easy to identify on the shelf with other types of sugars. As it's icing sugar I like the plastic bag even though harder to recycle as it protects against moisture. Ease of use/instructions - N/A Product - As weird as this may sound I found it to be less sweet than some other icing sugars, I used this a lot I used it recently in another bunch sample (unfilled double sponge cake) where I whipped it through cream added a delicious light flavour I also added it to the top of the cake for a dusting worked beautifully there too. I previously tried to ice some cupcakes but could not get the icing stiff enough to stand, not sure if me or the sugar, I ended up getting some stiff icing sugar for that job. Good quality icing sugar. A very well priced icing sugar that is good quality, is fine and doesn’t clump. It has the Bonsucro label indicating sugar grown in a sustainable way. States it is made from 95% Australian ingredients so I’m thinking that the 5% must be Tapioca starch, though this is not stated on the packaging. This time of year maybe the only time that we would use this product so a one kilo packet is somewhat generous for us. We will give this packet to family who do use the product. I opened this packet and sprinkled some over fruit to do a test run Thank you bunch for an opportunity to try this product. Would recommend this product based on quality and pricing.
