After a lot of research I went for the Eufy because of the 365 day battery life. I don't expect the battery to last 365 days but because I need it to cover 6 months between charges I figured this would do the trick. By going for battery powered external cameras you get an extremely simple installation. Just plug in your base station, download the app onto your phone, scan a QR code then sync the cameras and install them where you want. Note that regardless of brand, if you want continuous recording you need a mains powered camera. I used mains powered pan and tilt for my interior cameras. Eufy doesn't require you to take cloud hosting services as it has storage on the base station which you can access remotely through your app. However cloud storage is available as ... MoreAfter a lot of research I went for the Eufy because of the 365 day battery life. Good picture quality.but most annoying thing when the power went out while we were having a new air con installed the anti theft alarms went off. I was at work and my wife called but I couldnt turn it off as it was linked to the wifi which was now powered down. Also does not zoom in at all so a bit rubbish. Also it uses your data to upload the clips so another cost if you have a bad phone plan for data usage. Pluses for this system are the batteries which last a long time. But not as long as claimed as going by battery loss will last only 20 weeks not 52 as claimed. But still good. Also records only small clips so not good if you want to go back and check stuff as it doesnt record everything and also having issue with it being wireless as it only seems to be able to ... MoreGood picture quality.but most annoying thing when the power went out while we were having a new air con installed the anti theft alarms went off. Only saving grace for this system is you dont need to climb into the roof space and install any wiring although I am considering doing this as this system is not for me. Cost also pretty high.

The claims of the batteries lasting a year are preposterous unless perhaps the cameras are barely recording doing any work. In the eight months I've had mine I've charged three of the cameras twice and one of them four times. I bought a 2-camera eufyCam 2 Pro system and two eufyCam 2 Pro add-on cameras to replace my blink camera system. I mostly wanted to use the cameras in HomeKit and use their motion sense to turn on the flood lights for a better picture. Well, here is how it turned out: A. Using the cameras in HomeKit works great, however the resolution is limited to 1080 because that is Apple’s limit. Hopefully, it will get addressed in the future and I will be ready with these. B. The cameras can control the flood lights which I augmented with a couple Hue Outdoor Motion Sensors to cover other areas. C. However, using the cameras in HomeKit also prevents use of AI Human and Pet detection as it defaults to all motion. Also, activity zones cannot be used either. However, using the cameras in HomeKit also prevents use of AI Human and Pet detection as it defaults to all motion. Also, activity zones cannot be used either. Logo and time stamp are disabled as well. I don’t think I can use the 2-way audio in HomeKit either. D. I might remove them from HomeKit until eufy and Apple address the limitations as the eufy app is nice. Other things: I like the fact that the recordings are stored on the hub (which have in Wi-Fi, not connected directly to my router) in case someone steals the camera. The magnetic mounts are very strong but the threaded mounts are more adjustable. The only issue I have with the app is that I have to select a date to see the videos where in the blink app I can see them all listed by date.
While I like the cameras, the quality, the ease of setup, and the app, nothing makes up for annoyance of facial recognition that they claim the product has and how it supposedly supports Google Home/Assistant. I see in several places that this product has "facial recognition", but they don't. Not even close. All they mean is that their ADVANCED TECHNOLOY can differentiate between an animal, a leaf, and a human...really? That isn't something new. Then for google Home/Assistant, there has to be some gotchya there because I have been working on getting this working for days now and working with support and they have not helped the slightest bit. I can easily connect the devices to Google, but I cannot do anything with them. Nothing at all. I have read some people got this working, so there is a glimmer of hope, but I am not holding my breath. I also can't forget their promise about IFTT integration...which has still yet to happen and doesn't seem like it ever will. The biggest selling point of these cameras and the ONLY reason I will keep them is because they are just about the ONLY "smart" security/camera system out there that has no stupid monthly fee...i refuse to pay to store data when I have the capability myself to do so...so thanks for that. If they were not free, I would have returned these the day I bought them just for the principal.
The cameras have been very reliable, even in the north eastern winter in minus degrees. The battery did not waver and I can still get a good six months out of heavy use before having to recharge again.Set up was super easy connecting the camera to the homebase. The range from the homebase to an individual camera is about 150 feet, which was more than adequate to maintain a steady streaming in 2K around my entire property. Some of the motion detection, especially at night, was a little excessive but was able to “dial it down“ in the app for each individual camera. I really like the strong magnetic connections to the mounting, as this allows to flexibly reposition cameras. I even just plopped it on to the mailbox just for fun.My only gripe is with the computer ... MoreThe cameras have been very reliable, even in the north eastern winter in minus degrees. They need to work on this. Finally, when I did have an issue with one of the cameras, I called customer service and I received a replacement camera within a few days, no questions asked. You have to love that!
Setting up the homebase and cameras through the app is a straight forward and simple process. The 2K resolution and night cameras provide a very clear picture. Zone activity settings are not too bad and could maybe be better with multipoint areas rather than a flat square shape. The outdoor bracket didn’t provide the required angle for the camera when mounted inverted on the underhang of the roof. I had to buy a 90deg bracket to install the mount vertically as if it was wall mounted. I added the smart doorbell/camera which was no problem at all. Additional cameras can be added and any video footage can be stored in the homevase’s 16gb memory. Th option to add your own ext hard drive for extra storage is available too. I didn't want my home videos in the 'cloud'. I mean, where's that? Who owns the images? Who may be watching them. I want my videos here in my control. Last december my catalytic converter was stolen from my Prius. And again in February- that's right, two months later. We have gangs of low life just driving by, they stop at the house for a minute, then they take off. Same cars, same two cars. With that plastic cover on the license plates - makes it hard to read at an angle and can't get a photo. So I got this kit. Setup was a snap. And I was able to get long micro USB cables and wire up the front camera so I don't have to think about charging it. I am going to do the rear door camera next. This is a good start to a reasonable system; the cameras are as much a ... MoreI didn't want my home videos in the 'cloud'. I mean, where's that? Who owns the images? Who may be watching them. And I was able to get long micro USB cables and wire up the front camera so I don't have to think about charging it. I am going to do the rear door camera next. This is a good start to a reasonable system; the cameras are as much a deterrent as they are a recording device. I put that front camera above the garage in a very visible location. Next I will be ordering a motion detector for inside the garage, where the Prius now is. Add a few door sensors and maybe a kit with the doorbell and another homebase 2 and I think I will have a reasonable setup. The best part is, most people think the videos are in the cloud so messing with the camera makes no sense- the videos are already uploaded where they can't get to them. If you can wire up the home base via ethernet, that works best as you don't get as much delay in playback so try to do that if possible. I also chose to angle the cameras in a way where the front one has sensitivity out to the sidewalk, so it's triggered and recording by the time the person is on my driveway.
I purchased the 4 camera system and love it. There is no monthly fees although they do offer 24/7 monitoring service where they monitor your cameras and call you or the police when there is suspicious activity. I might consider ordering that service. Regarding my setup: I am hosting these cameras in Apple HomeKit. It notifies me and my wife when it detects motion. I has a built in alarm that would startle any would be criminal lurking around my property at night. It records clips of any motion detected and always send notification to my phone. It has geocoding that allows it to switch automatically to AWAY mode when we are away from out home. The video quality is crystal clear even at night. You can set the system to only react movement in specific customizable zones as well as ignore animals or other objects while reacting to people. What was really remarkable to me was the fact that I was able to mount a camera on my shed that is pretty far from my house and still have a strong wireless connection to the base. In addition, even thought the camera is mounted on the my shed, giving me a full view of my entire house, I am still able to digitally zoom in for closeups. This is really an awesome security camera system! PS: The entire system is super easy to setup. The packaging was of high quality. The cameras themselves are solid and heavy. It shows that they did not skimp on materials. So far, I have had the cameras installed for about a month with no issues. I researched for a long time, watched many YouTube videos comparing. various systems, but I believe this system is the best available. I f you are looking for something that's easy to install, works if Home Kit, Alexa and others, and comes with zero monthly service fees, look no further!
If youre hesitant to buy dont be. I wanted an hardwired camera system initially but after extensive research found this system had a lot more benefits than a wired system. We love the geofencing ability this system has which means all cameras are on alert when our location tracking is determined to be away from the home. Its brilliant! I love we can speak through the cameras. The quality is next level! Seriously worth every cent! We have now purchased an additional 2 cameras to have even more visibility around our home. One of our cameras are 17m away from the HomeBase (which is inside) and we have had absolutely no issue with this distance and the WiFi connection at all, to my surprise. We could not be happier with this system! Im so glad my partner talked me out ... MoreIf youre hesitant to buy dont be.
