A fabulous Mitre saw for a beginner

I needed a saw to chop up some scrap wood I had. laminate flooring, pallets, and old kitchen tops. I could not be happier with this R210 CMS. It was a breeze to setup up out of the box, the multipurpose blade cuts through anything, and The various angle settings are very easy to understand. A small criticism is that no dust bag is included, and I feel for a cost of 50p, this should hve been included. It's still a brilliant bit of kit though, and highly recommended. There are a few very good youTube videos on this device, I advise watching them. enjoy, buy without hesitation :)

When unpacking I was stunned how small this saw was. It is tiny!Bought to cut some 2x4 and some 2x2(ish) to make stakes to mark out trenches. WIll have other uses for it too in the summer.Needed to adjust the blade angle and square the fence but that was simple using the you tube videos. The base is so small, and the unit so light, that it does need securing down. I ended up buying a mitre saw stand from that well-known German supermarket for £39 - which is exactly the same item as the Scheppach one that sells for double the price.Once on a stand it is rock solid. Cuts really nicely (though I have nothing to compare it to). There are no holes in the fence through which to screw in a piece of timber to make a much wider fence so I resorted to using G clamps. ... MoreWhen unpacking I was stunned how small this saw was. Not ideal - but it's probably due to its size (and price).I only cut timber with it - and bought replacement timber blades on a deal from Saxton. Saves the original (and expensive!) multi-use Evolution blade from wearing out too quickly. No opinion on reliability as I've only used it 4 or 5 times.

I was really happy to find this at sixty five pounds until I set it up and used it. No matter how I manipulated the angle settings it just wouldn’t cut a straight edge. Gutted really as the blade is a multi material blade and can cut wood, plastic and metal which would’ve been handy. More so as the price of the blades are not far from the price of this unit with one already included. Returned to the store hassle free and purchased a Mac Allister sliding one instead. The other issue I had was the blade not cutting all the way through the material meaning the closest edge to the back plate would still be attached when the saw was fully pushed down. Potentially a bent blade or mechanism holding the blade but either way this is how I experienced the product. The ... MoreI was really happy to find this at sixty five pounds until I set it up and used it. EVOLUTION R210CMS ELECTRIC SAW

While this saw is good value in terms of hardware, I have a few issues. The first is that unless you have the saw bolted down it is very unstable, so you either need another surface to attach it or the evolution mitre stand.Secondly, the blade supplied is very versatile, as it can cut wood, metal and plastic. My issue is that when used on wood the low tooth count causes frayed edges. For general purpose jobs this is fine but if you need a flush edge this can be very annoying.Thirdly, and most importantly, the saw blade disc bore size. Evolution made the blade disc bore size a peculiar 25.4mm, deliberately ensuring you can ONLY USE EVOLUTION BLADES. It arrived next day as promised .A very neat piece of kit and more than able to do the job required.Thank you .

Good workshop addition
28 August 2022

I needed to cut 10 lengths of wood and decided that handsawing would be a pain, and not as square as I'd like, so, having previously used a neighbour's mitre saw, decided to buy this smaller, cheaper version. I mounted the unit on a base that I could then clamp into my workmate, checked that the blade was perpendicular to the back fence (it was) and cut away. Easy operation and good result. I'm sure there's a certain element of my own laziness here, but highly recommended. Check that it'll be big enough for the stock you want to cut before buying.Reliability rating too early to comment properly, but probably better than 3*. "

Handy & Powerful little saw
28 August 2020

Advised to check settings out of the box, and found all settings okay except that fence needed a few mm adjustment - always remember to check blade first before fence. First impressions are that this is a torquey little number, so make sure it is well clamped down before use. I made a 18mm ply baseboard which can be clamped anywhere, and this makes the saw very portable. (They advise a rather large baseboard, but I found this size too big and awkward; make one you will find easy to clamp, and easy to carry and store). It is powerful enough to cut hardwood without problems, but don't forget to allow for the fairly wide kerf. An ideal saw for the handyman who has some work outside as well as inside, and light enough for an old guy like me to carry about easily. The ... MoreAdvised to check settings out of the box, and found all settings okay except that fence needed a few mm adjustment - always remember to check blade first before fence. I hope you have a transformer!
4 February 2022

I needed a compound mitre saw to do some shelving work in my loft and having looked at a number of small relatively portable mitre saws chose this one because of its weight and price.Picked it up in good time and opened it up only to find that it did not have a normal plug as depicted on the box (and displayed above) but a transformer plug. So unless I had a transformer kicking about (which somewhat defeats the portability considerations) it was of no use. Furthermore as a suitable transformer would likely cost more than the mitre saw it undermined any cost savings that the product offered.Took it back to be informed that if I wanted a normal plug I would have to upgrade to the 240w model which would cost £10 more. Given I now had time constraints to consider as well, I chose to do this but I do feel ripped off not least because at no point do Screwfix make it clear that this item requires a transformer and as such the advert online is extremely misleading.Furthermore, this is supposed to be a compound mitre saw for small jobs. it implies portability and domestic use. On what planet does anybody use transformer dependent equipment for simple DIY jobs? The whole pretense of this product is a nonsense. Screwfix need to make their product requirements far more transparent and think long and hard about the suitability of certain products for their likely use!

Not impressed
3 June 2020

I had previously purchased a Makita mitre saw, however thought it was a bit heavy & bulky for my intended uses.I purchased this one as mainly using for DIY/hobby.Opening the box I wasn’t impressed at all. Understandably you only get what you pay for, but this purchase was a waste of money.I proceeded with the adjustments that were required. I was unable to achieve these, worst one being the rear fence not being square. There is an allen key screw at either end of the fence which you slacken, adjust then re-tighten. Looking from the front of the saw the left hand side was out two millimetres and the right hand side about four millimetres.I persevered with these adjustments for some time until I realised a true alignment was not possible.I can’t understand ... MoreI had previously purchased a Makita mitre saw, however thought it was a bit heavy & bulky for my intended uses.I purchased this one as mainly using for DIY/hobby.Opening the box I wasn’t impressed at all. Quality compact saw
1 January 2023

Bought this saw for accurate mitre cuts while fitting kitchen cornice / pelmets.Chose this one being more compact than others and appeared to have a good quality / value for occasional DIY use.On first use I found angles were not accurate but then realised it has fine adjust for mitre, bevel and depth so all good after following the adjustment procedures in user instructions.Chucks up a lot of dust (dust extraction worked well though)One of those tools I'm sure will find many uses.
