If you are looking for a way to stay warm when camping during cooler months, but also just want to be really comfortable sleeping in a tent anytime of year, the Exped Megamat Duo is a fantastic choice. This sleeping mat is firm, but really comfortable even though it is not that tall. It fits two people easily, and the version I have is the same size as a queen size bed. Its construction makes it very insulated so it has a high R rating, which is definitely important when you were sleeping in cooler temperatures. That makes this a great sleeping mat for any time of year.

Honestly, the best camping mat ever. We have had it for over 5 years now and it hasn’t missed a heart beat.I’ve noticed some comments about it not being self inflating, but it’s worth noting it’s not supposed to be self inflating… it’s designed to partially inflate if you leave it for 30mins.Warm/insulative, sturdy and has been on many camping trips along with guests who stay over at our place. Doesn’t deflate, even after a week on the mattress.Couldn’t fault it other than it being a touch bulky.

Best camping purchase of all time!!

Extremely comfortable
31 January 2024

Let’s get this out of the way first: this is eye-wateringly expensive and completely unnecessary. Having said that, if you’ve got the cash to burn and want to be nearly as comfortable in the field as you are at home, this is hard to beat. As a bonus, it eliminated floor condensation on my rooftop tent in the morning, reducing my teardown time and mold considerations. I’m going to buy a pump for it, though, because even when you let the self-inflation do its thing, pumping the rest of the way is a pain, especially suspended off the ground and bent over. I had the cash to burn and wanted extreme comfort and warmth. This fit the bill and I have no regrets. I’m just at a point in life where I want the best, and if I cannot afford the best, I’ll either wait until I can ... MoreLet’s get this out of the way first: this is eye-wateringly expensive and completely unnecessary. Five Star Sleep
11 May 2021

So I don't have a ton of comparison points in terms of camping pads, but we sleep on a Purple at home and this bad boy is more than enough to replicate that in the great outdoors. The quality is exceptional -- inflating and deflating is simple -- and the included stuff sack and pump are cherries on top (the last one being a main reason I went with the 10 vs. the 7.5). Overall, 5 stars, highly recommend. We considered getting two smaller single pads from another company, but their new line hadn't come out in time for our spring trips and cost-wise, the Exped was WAY under what two singles would've run us.Just for some fun info that might be helpful to someone out there re: backpacking...We did hike this pad into a backcountry site for a one nighter just to see if ... MoreSo I don't have a ton of comparison points in terms of camping pads, but we sleep on a Purple at home and this bad boy is more than enough to replicate that in the great outdoors. Also, the hike was really flat and sometimes sandy -- any elevation or obstacles and I'm sure the SP ski instructor would've popped out of the bushes to tell us how much a great time we weren't having. It's not insanely heavy, but it's big and bulky, even when rolled and stuffed really tightly -- somewhere between a fully stuffed 70L and 100L Patty duffel. All that being said: Expend obviously didn't make this for backpacking -- but we stubbornly still wanted to test it out. For really short hikes in, might be worth it for you. Anything longer than a mile or a stay longer than 1 night that would require more food/water/gear, likely a no-go. For car camping though, this thing is co-zee, and there are plenty of really great reviews out there from other folks to back it up.

Fragile product
10 April 2023

I bought this expensive sleeping Mat cause I trust that this product comes with 5-year warranty. I used it indoors occasionally for less in 3 month. And it started to leak, I contacted customer service and was recommended to buy a repair kit, as any hole on the surface is most likely due to accidental puncture. Seriously, I don't know how it can be punctured since I placed it on my apt floor. With such premium prices, you would expect a more durable product. To me this product is made to be taken care of like holding a baby, it is not even indoor quality let alone outdoor activities. All I got from spending almost 400 dollars is that how to find the location of the leak. It works by spray bubble water on the mat. In this hyperinflation environment, think twice if ... MoreI bought this expensive sleeping Mat cause I trust that this product comes with 5-year warranty. Not Convinced
30 November 2022

After days of online research, we decided to spend big money on this mattress as a comfortable sleep when camping will make or break you trip. We've done two 2-week trips with this mattress, and we're not convinced. On both trips sleeping on this mattress it put our hips, back and neck out. Every morning we woke up so stiff and in pain. I don't know if I'm doing anything wrong or if it's leaking?? I've tried completely inflating it full, I've tried letting a bit of air out, then a bit more and a bit more. Nothing worked. My husband is way heavier than me and whenever he moved and got out of bed I would drop, which jolted me awake and it was so annoying. It's so disappointing after how much time I spent reading 5-star reviews and trying to make the best choice. ... MoreAfter days of online research, we decided to spend big money on this mattress as a comfortable sleep when camping will make or break you trip. Ironically, we had a more comfortable sleep on our Kings Swag foam mattress which we sold to buy this one.

Slow to Inflate and pricy
5 October 2023

I've never used a self inflating mattress before so my expectations were that it would infate to a point that it would be the softest that anyone would want.I followed the initial inflating steps and let it inflate for 3 days, then packed it tightly for about a week from when I was going to use it.When It came to using it I was a bit rushed in setting it up and probably only gave it 10mins and the furtherest 25% from the valve was quite deflated so I pumped up the rest with the included pump, still grateful it wasn't the full 100% with the pump.slightly disapointed I about another week after I used it and packed it away tightly I tested it again at home. in about 15-20 mins it was probably 90% inflated with the furtherest corners from the valve quite deflated and ... MoreI've never used a self inflating mattress before so my expectations were that it would infate to a point that it would be the softest that anyone would want.I followed the initial inflating steps and let it inflate for 3 days, then packed it tightly for about a week from when I was going to use it.When It came to using it I was a bit rushed in setting it up and probably only gave it 10mins and the furtherest 25% from the valve was quite deflated so I pumped up the rest with the included pump, still grateful it wasn't the full 100% with the pump.slightly disapointed I about another week after I used it and packed it away tightly I tested it again at home. in about 15-20 mins it was probably 90% inflated with the furtherest corners from the valve quite deflated and about an hour in maybe 93% inflated. It did get to where I would expect overnight so I guess it's a bit slow if you want to use minimal effort.Overall, way more comfortable than a straight air mattress and much less bouncy for a skiny person like myself.I got it at $429 which still feels a bit more than it's worth to me over all but plan to use it for a long while so should amortise eventually.

Slow to inflate first time
10 November 2023

I haven't tried out the mattress as yet. It was slow the first time I inflated it, especially the corners don't inflate as well as the body, I had to use a pump after ward, roughly 10 pumps to the firmness I wanted. After inflating the mattress I left it for 1 week and the firmness was still there. I'm happy that the mattress fitted the Stretcher Tent. I had previously communicated with the sale team at Snowys, they said it would be longer than the Stretcher Tent. It fitted perfectly, but still had some space left in the stretcher Tent, it had roughly 10m left. Overall I'm happy with my purchase as it is so comfortable and material is good quality.

Very Comfy and Firm, but the Bag sucks
11 March 2024

This is a great mattress to sleep on. Easy to inflate and deflate with two separate, well labelled, one way Valves. However, when it comes time to roll it up and pack it away, it's hard work. It is a tad bulky, and there is no strap, so once you have got the air out and rolled it up, it tries quite hard to spring open again. A strap to wrap around it would be a great idea - but you could buy and add your own. The Bag is a good size (slightly oversized to get the mattress in easily, but it doesn't have a good mechanism to do it up (eg a zip!) so, again, the mattress wants to spring out, and if you keep your inflatable pillows and a pump in the bag too (it is big enough), there is a Risk they will fall out.
