The AAA batteries will probably last for ages because it automatically turns itself off after 30 seconds of not being used... but if they could have used one AA or two AA batteries? AA batteries last longer (especially if sitting in a cupboard for years at a time) and are less prone to leaking? There's enough room for two AA's in the handle so it's a minor modification? There is no on/off switch which could result in flat batteries? This non-contact thermometer has only a 1 year warranty. Warranties signal to the consumer the expected reliability. Given the high price and the low chance of breakage it's surprising that they don't have a 2 or even a 5 year warranty? The manual seems to have enough detail but is written in ~6 point which makes it hard to read ... MoreThe AAA batteries will probably last for ages because it automatically turns itself off after 30 seconds of not being used... but if they could have used one AA or two AA batteries? San serif font means that even if you don't read it you won't understand a lot of it? No online manual available anywhere... which makes it hard to save the instructions?Relatively easy to understand the LCD even without reading the instructions... but when you read the instructions you sometimes learn some stuff that you wouldn't otherwise know? Didn't notice anything important in the instructions but perhaps I missed something? This is expensive for a non-contact thermometer ($59.99) but if you've got a cold and are in a hurry to check your temperature, the convenience outweighs the cost? The Famidoc FDIR V22 was the cheapest of 3 non-contact thermometers at Chemist Warehouse. It works just fine at the moment and will hopefully keep on doing so for many years into the future. It deserves 3/5 stars because it's just like every other non-contact thermometer. There is nothing to make it stand out.:-)

As soon as I put the batteries in and close it up the batteries pop straight out. Not what you would expect from a $109 product. I have contracted chemist warehouse but so far have only received a generated email with complaint number. I couldn’t recommend this product as it would need to be taped down to work to keep batteries in place. Not very impressed. I am immune compromised and bought this with trust that it would work. With the covid crisis, this product shouldn’t be still available to purchase considering how many complaints there are about it. Wish I went to reviews beforehand because I would not have purchased. Don’t bother wasting your money with this product.

I bought this approx a month ago. The screen is scratched and plastic lifting in one corner. The battery housing is not satisfactory as the ‘locking’ cover does not catch properly, so the batteries pop out all the time. Every single time it is used (on multiple people) the temperature is ALWAYS 36.5 degrees Celsius, I therefore question the accuracy. I would return this except I’ve lost my receipt. It’s a cheap nasty product.

Bought this thermometer as I wanted to take my kids temperature quickly and easily, and this does exactly that. There is an option to turn the sound off, so you can take their temperature without waking them up. Not too big, so you can pop it in your bag and take it with you. I would recommend this for any parent.
This is a great, easy to use product. I can vouch for its accuracy as it came to good use today after my booster dose, to monitor the slight fever I had. After reading reviews for lots of thermometers and reading that this was the best, I totally agree; I highly recommend.
I was shocked on receiving this thermometer. It looks bigger and stronger on the picture. In reality it looks and feels Like a cheap plastic kids toy.I’m sure the temperature doesn’t read true, mine read at 36.2C, my grandson’s read at 36.8C and then my daughters read at 36.7C, we waited for 30mins and took them all again and we were all way different From the first reading.I would not waste your money on this $109 is not worth it.
Readings are inaccurate. Luckily I had a mercury based thermo to crosscheck. Most of the time this one is off by 1/2 degrees +/-.Rarely getting accurate results.Don't know how an imp medical tools with such inaccuracy made it to the market and shops like chemist warehouse is selling it.
My first time using a forehead thermometer and I find it far more consistent and accurate than an ear thermometer. I really like it. It only takes 1 second to read. It's quite lightweight, doesn't feel the highest of quality, but it does the job.
I bought this thermometer last year when covid was starting in Melbourne to make sure our family was safe. Initially I thought it was great, felt a little cheap for the price I paid (covid price, silly me lol). I thought it seemed odd that we always read a reading between 36.5 - 36.7 never did it fluctuate from those readings, no matter how hot my children felt.Today I just knew my child was sick and bought another top quality ear thermometer and she has a temperature of 39.1, this thermometer still read as 36.6.Massive difference and huge difference if you have a young baby. Wish I could get my money back but guess I trusted them for too long.
Worked initially, but didn't seem overly accurate as there was a couple of degree difference between our other thermometers (ear and conventional). After a couple of weeks went into a strange mode which allowed cycling between "Cb-", "Cb-1","Cb-2" and "Cb-3". No mention of this in the microscopic manual. Changed batteries, no improvement. Scanning when in the "Cb-" selection brought it back to life, but now the "C/F" button doesn't work and the temperature just shows as "Lo" every time. The environment/body button seems to work, but all scans result in "Lo" result. There is no "Err" or low battery symbol so all should be ok. Web site says products bought online can be returned to a store, went to store but now must post product back. Now I have to purchase a pouch ... MoreWorked initially, but didn't seem overly accurate as there was a couple of degree difference between our other thermometers (ear and conventional). They have paid the postage costs. Product is of very poor quality, unfortunately I believed the other positive reviews.
