We sent this toy to our 5 yr old great-grandson who lives in CT, for his 5th birthday. His Mom posted a picture on Facebook of him playing with it, and it was obviously holding his attention. She said he loved it and eventually, everyone in the family had a turn trying it. This included his 7-yr old twin sister and brother, his 3-yr old sister, and his Dad, who boasted that he did the hardest puzzle! I was so happy it turned out to be such a fun and interesting toy for all of them! I will definitely be ordering more Fat Brain Toys when I need a gift for my grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Coggy is an interesting problem-solving toy.Things we like: --It makes you think!--Has a good variety of challenging puzzles.--It is all in one piece. Not a bunch of little items to get lost.--The puzzle cards are joined together. No loose cards to get lost.Things we don't like: --It is plastic, with stickers for the designs. Doesn't seem like it will hold up to rough use.--It took some time to figure out the mechanics of how to bend and move it. Difficult for younger kids.--Made in China

I bought this for my 10 year old grandson who seems to have a mechanical aptitude. Since we are currently dealing with a pandemic, I was looking for enjoyable educational items that would also stimulate the mind while he is confined to shelter in place. When I asked him to review Coggy, he opined that it is a "good travel toy". Since traveling is currently out of the question, I am only giving it a 2 star rating. Perhaps, in better times the rating could be higher.Perhaps a younger child might find Coggy more enjoyable. (

I purchased this for an extremely bright 7-year-old, who's into anything with numbers, patterns, and shapes. The Coggy feeds directly into his interests, and challenges him to solve the puzzle cards. He absolutely loves playing with it!! It's easy to slip into a backpack, gives him something to do on long drives, and provides a workout for his brain!!
My Review of Coggy: Love this toy - its good for the brain and small motor development, it's attractive and stimulating, it gives practice in persistence and forward-thinking, and it is played with independently. BUT.....at first we thought it was terrible or broken because even adults had a very hard time moving the pieces; we didn't think every piece could be moved because we couldn't move them. Only after one adult used considerable strength to force pieces to move, did we realize that the configurations in the booklet could be formed. So, the six year-old recipient of the toy has a real hard time playing with Coggy. I hope it loosens up after a while, but an adult will have to spend some time working it to loosen it up. We love the toy, but it's way to hard for little hands to move the cogs. For that reason, it should be recommended for older kids. Too bad, because the toy would be very good for younger kids.
Love the idea! Child was excited to get it. Unfortunately, the toy broke in under 5-minutes. Not kidding. The toy is plastic, with the top half of coggy connecting to the bottom half of coggy with a plastic connector. If the connector breaks, the top half gear cover won't stay on. The idea and design of the product is fine. Indeed, this is a great puzzle activity that is perfect for travel. My main issue with the toy is the materials. Plastic should be replaced with metal, even if it makes the t
I purchased this puzzle/toy for my 12-year-old nephew who is in a puzzle-loving phase. He was immediately drawn to it and played with it for quite a while before putting it down (somewhat unusual in today's world of short attention spans). He spends a lot of time riding in the backseat of the car and I thought this would be something he could enjoy INSTEAD of having his face in that stupid electronic device of his that seems to turn all children into robots. I'm pleased with my purchase in general, but must note that this puzzle is a cheaply made plastic item that I doubt will stand the test of time. Given that, I thought the puzzle was expensive, but was no more expensive from this seller than anywhere else (to be fair).
