This was a really interesting set. I bought it for my 7 year old but it was too challenging for him to do by himself. I tried it with him and found the instructions very difficult as the diagrams were small and not particularly clear. For full disclosure though, I am terrible at stuff like this. :) Once I started to figure it out, it was really quite cool to see how the marble run worked. I got pretty excited. Then my son wanted to take over and do it by himself but got frustrated. In short, I think this would be a great toy for the right audience. I would have waited until my son were older if I had the chance to do things over again and would have started with a smaller set at first to test it out without overwhelming either of us.

We have a connetix ball run and a standard plastic marble run as well as lots of keva planks. I've only built one trestle tracks model so far but so far I'm impressed! I like that it comes with 4 complete builds with step by step instructions. Creative building is great, but model ideas make it easier to learn how to use the pieces and these instructions were very easy to follow and used almost all the pieces. I anticipate my 5 and 6 year olds will be able to follow them easily, and putting pieces together seems easier than with connetix. I also like that the completed ball runs are small. I brought this toy for 7 year old granddaughter, 11year old grandson built it as complicated and fragile for her, piece was broken, I have brought several marble runs that was way more fun, they did enjoy it at first playing with it, then lost interested, I also have brought several gifts from fat Brain Toys and was never disappointed until now, also the price was way too high for the quality of this toy
