10 times better than my old Staples OmniTech shredder
My first shredder was a Fellowes shredder that was great and lasted for years. When it broke, I was looking for a bargain and bought a Staples OmniTech shredder with a rebate that was an offer I couldn't refuse. Though the Staples shredder was marketed as a 14-sheet shredder, it would jam when feeding only 2 sheets through. Still it lasted for years, jamming frequently, over-heating, and under-performing. When some of the plastic pieces (separating the blades) broke, I was optimistic about replacing the Staples shredder with a Fellowes. My Fellowes Powershred 60Cs shredder is 10 times better than the Staples OmniTech. Feeding 10 sheets is no problem. It's a lot less noisy than the Staples, and I can see no flaws. Do not buy!
I have this shredder in my office and it creates paper dust that gets all over my furniture. I believe it comes out from the vent which is located where you turn it on and off. Fellowes says you need to oil every time you empty the bin, but I never had to do that with any other fellowes product I owned or used. I would not recommend, find one that doesn't have that vent on the side.... Show more

Easy, no frills shredder!
I had the 1999 version of this shredder and it worked great until I accidentally jammed it with two credit cards. It was such a great little shredder, so I was thrilled to find the upgraded 2021 version of the same thing! I love the small size, and the no frills buttons/options. It just shreds, plain and simple. The other reviews are true, the unit is top heavy and can disconnect easily if you try to move the unit. My older model did this too so I am used to it and I don't care! Pro tip: oiling your shredder is KEY!... Show more

Fellowes' Powershred 63Cb -10 Sheets
Yes, I'd recommend it.As a regular user of Fellowes shredders, the plan is to keep this one running for years! Yes, I've burned through a few others by not following the guidelines. If the directions say "run 8 min, rest 20", then follow it. My cousin recommended using the Fellowes lubricating oil to extend the shredders life. Upon receiving promptly delivered Target shipment, I contacted Fellowes customer service. The super helpful representative suggested shredding a minimum of 5 pages (not one) back up the shredder if you encounter a jam. Recommended Fellowes oil every time you empty the bin.The bin latch is the only negative I've encountered. It tends to open which shuts down the shredder. A bungee cord will likely remedy it.Thanks to the prior review for ... MoreYes, I'd recommend it.As a regular user of Fellowes shredders, the plan is to keep this one running for years! Good shredder so far
I've shredded at least 500 sheets without any problem since this shredder was delivered a week ago. I only put 5-7 sheets through at a time (some with staples - no problem), I shred for 5-10 minute sessions so I don't overheat the motor, and I have oiled the blades each time I empty the bin. The bin holds a lot, especially if you open it periodically - while it is turned off - and "compress" the paper inside.I gave a 4 star rating instead of a 5 for two reasons: the on/off/reverse switch is a bit touchy (the shredder sometimes does not turn on unless you hit the exact position) and the window into the bin is too dark to see through and inconveniently located on the side of the shredder.Otherwise, this shredder seems solid and I hope it lasts for several years.... No thanks!
This shredder was delivered to me just today. The side of the box had been previously ripped open and taped closed, but the shredder appeared to have no damage. I unpacked it, put it in my home office next to my printer table and set the shredder top onto the basket. What!?! it wobbled just sitting on the wood floor. I tried it in other locations, and it still wobbled. Mind you, this thing has no casters, but rather a flat bottom (or so I thought). I removed the shredder top and inspected the bottom of the basket. Low and behold, there was a large bulge in the bottom surface that, unless it was setting on carpet, caused the whole thing to wobble. I immediately put it back in the box and returned it to the store, without even testing how it functions. I only gave it ... MoreThis shredder was delivered to me just today. I only gave it "1's" for operating characteristics, because the system would not let me leave those fields blank.... Show more

My old Fellowes paper shredder of 15 years suddenly jammed. I figured it was old and things don't always last forever. Ordering and delivery went smoothly. No complaints there. However, whereas my old shredder had a pull out bin to catch the paper, on this model you have to lift off the the top of the unit which houses the motor, etc.. It's heavy and awkward, and where do you put it in a home office situation to empty the bin. That's just an occasional problem. But the feed slot is is less than a half inch wide. Which makes it difficult to get a good rhythm going feeding papers in. Unless you unfold each sheet and stack it neatly. But then you have the time constraint of only having 6 minutes to shred before you risk the motor overheating. Not thrilled with the ... Seems heavy duty
This shredder seems more heavy duty than my previous shredders. It does a nice job of shredding and it is not as loud as my previous one but shredders are just not quiet machines. It has a large bin so you don't have to empty it so often and it has a red light that will let you know when to let it cool down some before continuing to feed. There is a slot that you feed the papers through and I had to get used to this because it seems a little narrow and unlike my other shredders through the years. I found out if you have folded papers just feed it in the slot- fold first and things go quicker than if you place the papers vertically or otherwise.I am pleased with the shredder but when I went to the Fellowes website to register it, I could not find this model in ... I called Office Depot's customer Service and it took a lot of time for no results, however when I went online and did live chat with them, I was able to get better information on how to register through "Fair Trade" that supplies the warranty. I have to allow a couple of days to see if it is added to my account at Fair Trade now. I think it was very important and Office Depot should have put in some information regarding how to get the actual warranty activated, registered etc. Whenever I purchase something in the future that I want a warranty on I will go into the store and expect to get some paperwork and information about the warranty. I wonder how many others think they have extra warranty coverage and do not realize it takes extra steps to ensure you have it. Hopefully they won't end up needing it and discover it was not activated etc. It was a hassle but in the end I think it has all worked out. Information is key!... Show more

Shreds fine but needs to be better built
The shredder does what it is supposed to do. It shreds nicely and is relatively quiet compared to my old one. I also like the safety features. It can be finicky on the number of pages you put in at once but it does the job. However, I do not like the way the shredder moves side to side when the paper bin is pulled out. The plastic on the sides is thin and flimsy. I was surprised at this construction coming from Fellowes. It seems like there should be a support bar across the top to keep the sides stable. I believe the weight of the shredder motor on top is what makes it shaky when the bin is pulled out. I also do not like that there are not any gliders or wheels on this. The plastic at the bottom is sharp and scratchy. I will have to put my own gliders to make it ... MoreThe shredder does what it is supposed to do. This’ll Cut It
I had an older model shredder that I accidentally fed my cat’s rabies tag through and it stopped cold, never to shred again. I bought this model because of the credit card/CD shred feature, and because the literature said it was a cross-cut. It is a cross-cut, but in larger strips; not confetti. One should only run it for 20-30 minutes at a time. It’s fussy that way and doesn’t want to overheat.I’ve been going through old papers and this product has been able to keep up thus far. The controls are easy to use and can’t be accidentally turned on by curious cats like the old style toggle switches could. The basket is much easier to remove and dump than the old style, where one had to remove the cutter head assembly in order to dump out the shredding.Four Stars b/c the ...
