I considered many different guitars before deciding on this one. Thus far, I have been beyond happy with it.Probably the weakest part of this offering is the gig bag, which lacks any padding. Not too big a deal if the guitar never leaves your custody, but you'll likely want something a little sturdier if entrusting the guitar to someone else. I have yet to attach the strap, but it seems to be of decent quality. The picks will work nicely for a beginner, but there are only three of them. I assume the strings are the same as on the guitar, so they should suffice unless you like heavier strings. There is also an Allen key for truss rod adjustments. The guitar is a great piece! Sustain cold be a tad better, but otherwise, I have no complaints about this instrument. The pack does not include a tuner. You have the option to purchase one or use the Fender Tune app; I did both. A string winder/cutter would also be a desirable add-on.Finally, you also get a free 90-day subscription to Fender Play. I have found this to be a good instructional method. If you're a beginning guitarist, I highly recommend this setup!

These new solid tops from Fender feel like a game changer in the low end/starter guitar price point. I was at sweetwater just wasting time looking around with no intent to pick up a new guitar. This cd60s in mahogany is hanging on the wall and catches my eye. I play it and it sounds REALLY good and I'm a sucker for mahogany so I check the price. I couldn't believe it. I have a nice martin and home but for that price I snatched it up to replace my laminate starter guitar I keep at work to fool around with at lunch. Out of the box it's perfectly playable and it looks and sounds great. Didn't have to do anything to get the action where I want it and that's not always the case with an new acoustic. I expect once the word gets out on these they will have a hard time ... MoreThese new solid tops from Fender feel like a game changer in the low end/starter guitar price point. It is however a great value that does produce the kind of sound that's hard to find for under $500. I didn't think a solid top guitar was possible at this price point with this level of quality.

A really well-built guitar with solid sound. Great action right from the start with high quality strings (an extra pair was included as well - I purchased the combo pack - with the gig bag, strap, extra picks, etc.)Well finished heavy body. Good volume (can get pretty loud!), good bass on the strings, and overall excellent execution.
I have a lot of guitars, over 40 the last time I counted. I have about 7 or 8 acoustics. Most of all are solid wood build but that means they are sometimes rendered unplayable during the winters. So I purchased this guitar. I got it on sale, so I actually bought 2 of them. The first one I gave away to a friend, that one played PERFECT out of the box. The 2nd one I had to straighten the neck which lowered the action and now it plays perfect as well. The rolled edges are nice and smooth and will greatly help a new player so their hands don't get torn up by sharp fret edges. The tuners are surprisingly nice, as good as any I have had on even very high end guitars. I tuned it once, and it stayed in tune for days. The tuners are surprisingly nice, as good as any I have had on even very high end guitars. I tuned it once, and it stayed in tune for days. The strings are extra light I believe, which does give it a slightly bright sound but not as bright as my solid wood Washburn. Once the strings have been changed to just Light strings it should sound just a bit warmer and full. The guitar scale is just a tad shorter than a regular sized dreadnought and the neck is just a bit thinner and the fretboard not quite as wide. It took me a couple times playing but now I'm use to it.For those who already have guitars, I'll break down the sound compared to some others that I have. Its not as heavy as my solid wood guitars and does not sound as loud. Compared to my Washburn solid wood WS150 it is a little warmer but just as articulate on the strings and chords when played. Compared to my Ovation 1771X it is not as well ballanced but does sound better because the ovation is of course plastic. It does not compare to my Guild D-150CE (rosewood body) or my Gibson J-150 (bubinga body) The Guild is 4 times the price though and the Gibson is 8 times or more the price so understandable. It is the best sounding and playing $100 acoustic I have ever played. Even not on sale at $200 it is an exceptional value! I will put a soundhole preamp pickup in mine.
Hello! My name is Paul Lee and I?m 43 years old man. I came to the USA one year ago and I?m learning English. When I was young, I used to play the guitar which was old and used, and it?s sound not make melody, but make noisy. At that time I didn?t have enough money, so I have quitted playing the guitar. However, I found great deal program here at Adorama Music, so I purchased this guitar 2weeks ago.And then yesterday I played the gospel with this guitar at the Bible study small group. It was my first concert for the first time in my life. After meeting many audiences said to me, ?Your playing guitar was great, amazing and you have a musical talent.? I actually got this guitar for my daughter who wants to learn to play, after playing myself for 50 years, I am VERY picky about what guitar I would get for her. I play Ovations, Alvarez, and my 12 string Adamas, lots of fingerpicking and flat picking. i tried this guitar out for her in the store along with many others, she kept coming back to the Fender. I would play the same licks and progressions on all guitars, cost was really not an issue, no Martin though for a beginner. I had offered a guitar that was double the cost but she still liked the Fender. I have to say, I was not excited about her getting a Fender acoustic. WOW was I wrong, this guitar played so wonderfully I couldn't believe it, I was impressed, the neck is wonderful, better than others we tried ... I would highly recommend the Fender to any beginner or anyone that is looking for a second acoustic for practice or campfire time. I can not say enough good about what Fender has done, because of the guitar, she is progressing very well, can play clean already.
I just went and bought this one yesterday at a national chain with the initials GC. I'm 60 years old and after 40 years of gigging , I have decided to call it a day , so I wanted to get something that I could use for my own personal enjoyment at home. I had sold all of my gear a few days ago so I would not get tempted to go out and play again and really just wanted a nice dreadnought that I could retire with . I could've gotten a Taylor but too expensive and I already have been through 2 BBTs . No, this time I wanted something different and also attractive to the eye as well and this one fit the bill. GC to their credit , gave me a new one which was still in the box and not a floor model, which I appreciated. When I got it home, I did the usual set up and then put ... When I got it home, I did the usual set up and then put on a set of Elixirs which really bought out the true sound of the Mahogany Solid top . This IMO, sounds just as good as a BBT if not better. Plus it stays in tune much better as well. I made the right choice buying this one .
Compared to what I had been attempting to play recently, it was perfect. In reviews I had read before purchase, the guitar was described as having a rosewood fingerboard but mine had a walnut fingerboard. It was advertised by Anderton's as having a walnut fingerboard and so there are no complaints there. I must confess that I rather like the look of the walnut. Out of the box the action was incredibly low which led to a little fret buzz but a slight adjustment of the truss rod has all but eliminated that. I have to learn to be gentle with her though, no heavy-handed playing. Overall, she is a joy to play. My new best friend.
Beginner guitar player here. I went to Guitar Center to try the Yamaha FS800 but ended up liking this Fender CD60-S so much better. It has a rich, deep and clear sound, stays in tune, and the narrow fretboard makes it easy to play if you have small hands. Honestly I like this even better than the much more expensive Seagull that I first borrowed to learn on. My guitar teacher even commented on how nice it sounds. And at this price, I don't have to constantly worry about it being damaged or scratched. Just an all-around great guitar. I absolutely love it.
