Fender CD-60S Dreadnought - Black

I cannot say enough about the fender CC60S mahogany in that it is an incredible guitar in all ways! In tone, projection,in aesthetic beauty, in fit and finish! Just a wonderful great value! I am 66 years old an have been playing classical, rock, blues and ragtime guitar for 51 years! I have had lot's of acoustics and this CC60S must be my all time favorite in all respects! I have owned a number of high-end 12 Strings. This Fender can hang with them and some Twice as expensive and more! It was perfectly set-up right out of the box. Great action and play-ability.I am still Impressed with this guitar especially at it's price point. The strings it came strung with were not for me. It is The one thing that I changed and it just made the sound POP, the voice INCREDIBLE and made the guitar even more impressive. The strings I used are the Martin Retro Monel Custom Lights. It opened a whole new sound for this guitar. I have owned this now over 4 months and am still awed. For a twelve string it holds its Tuning even when I am wailing and using my Dunlop Brass slide. I've wanted a 12-string acoustic since I learned guitar as a kid, and I decided to buy this as a celebration for a new job offer. The CD140SCE 12-string is well made and feels quite solid while still feeling light in my hands. The frets are nicely finished, and the setup seems perfect to me. I am thinking I have something to learn about the initial tuning because I have managed to break the same string on two different 12-string guitars now.The case that comes with this guitar is simply the best case I have gotten with a guitar. Best Sound for the Money!!

These new solid tops from Fender feel like a game changer in the low end/starter guitar price point. I was at sweetwater just wasting time looking around with no intent to pick up a new guitar. This cd60s in mahogany is hanging on the wall and catches my eye. I play it and it sounds REALLY good and I'm a sucker for mahogany so I check the price. I couldn't believe it. I have a nice martin and home but for that price I snatched it up to replace my laminate starter guitar I keep at work to fool around with at lunch. Out of the box it's perfectly playable and it looks and sounds great. Didn't have to do anything to get the action where I want it and that's not always the case with an new acoustic. It is however a great value that does produce the kind of sound that's hard to find for under $500. I didn't think a solid top guitar was possible at this price point with this level of quality.

Great Guitar!

I have a lot of guitars, over 40 the last time I counted. I have about 7 or 8 acoustics. Most of all are solid wood build but that means they are sometimes rendered unplayable during the winters. So I purchased this guitar. I got it on sale, so I actually bought 2 of them. The first one I gave away to a friend, that one played PERFECT out of the box. The 2nd one I had to straighten the neck which lowered the action and now it plays perfect as well. The rolled edges are nice and smooth and will greatly help a new player so their hands don't get torn up by sharp fret edges. The tuners are surprisingly nice, as good as any I have had on even very high end guitars. I tuned it once, and it stayed in tune for days. The strings are extra light I believe, which does give it a slightly bright sound but not as bright as my solid wood Washburn. Once the strings have been changed to just Light strings it should sound just a bit warmer and full. The guitar scale is just a tad shorter than a regular sized dreadnought and the neck is just a bit thinner and the fretboard not quite as wide. It took me a couple times playing but now I'm use to it.For those who already have guitars, I'll break down the sound compared to some others that I have. Its not as heavy as my solid wood guitars and does not sound as loud. Compared to my Washburn solid wood WS150 it is a little warmer but just as articulate on the strings and chords when played. Compared to my Ovation 1771X it is not as well ballanced but does sound better because the ovation is of course plastic. It does not compare to my Guild D-150CE (rosewood body) or my Gibson J-150 (bubinga body) The Guild is 4 times the price though and the Gibson is 8 times or more the price so understandable. It is the best sounding and playing $100 acoustic I have ever played. Even not on sale at $200 it is an exceptional value! I will put a soundhole preamp pickup in mine.

Impressive guitar

I actually got this guitar for my daughter who wants to learn to play, after playing myself for 50 years, I am VERY picky about what guitar I would get for her. I play Ovations, Alvarez, and my 12 string Adamas, lots of fingerpicking and flat picking. i tried this guitar out for her in the store along with many others, she kept coming back to the Fender. I would play the same licks and progressions on all guitars, cost was really not an issue, no Martin though for a beginner. I had offered a guitar that was double the cost but she still liked the Fender. I have to say, I was not excited about her getting a Fender acoustic. Nice Strat!

Things I like:-Noiseless pickups sound pretty close to regular single coils but without the annoying hum. They may not sound 100% as glassy as my Tele single coils, but if we're honest, very few people will notice the difference and the trade-off for quiet pickups is well worth it.-One volume and one master tone is user friendly like a Telecaster-Comfortable body and neck-Rotary switch adds a nice boost to get closer to Tele or p90 when neededComments:-First time I tried out the rotary switch I thought it was kinda of dumb, but after setting it up, I think it is most valuable to add some thickness when the thinner Strat sounds needs a bit more. I like it now but still think the lower settings aren't truly necessary. Makes the neck pickup more suitable for jazz and gets the bridge close to a Tele.-After received, we tweaked it but adjusting the truss rod, filing the nut a bit for a couple strings, raising the pickups to the Fender specs (3.2mm), adjusting the rotary switch so when you turned it the knob would stop and not just keep spinning when you got to the end of the options.-Make sure you unplug the guitar from the amp or the battery will run down very quickly-Never owned a Pau Ferro fretboard before but it's very close to Rosewood. If you're on the fence, I wouldn't let it put you off.In the end, we've got a very usable, comfortable, versatile Strat that sounds great! If you are looking for a Stratocaster that can do Strat tones and can get close to Tele or even Les Paul (maybe a bit far on the Les Paul but again, close is the operative word--there is no ONE guitar) when needed, all with noise-free pickups, then this is a great choice.

Review of Fender Deluxe Roadhouse Strat PF 3 Tone Sunburst

Had £1700 to spend, tried a ultra, pro 2, performer, Guitar Guitar exclusive with custom shop pickups and the deluxe roadhouse, made my purchase based on feel and sound and looks, bought with my ears and not my ego. Pound for pound the roadhouse deluxe was the best instrument and with the exception of custom shop level, the roadhouse was by far the best looking strat on view. It was actually hanging in the American section not the mexican section and when i saw it and noticed it had noisless pickups and the nicest wood grain finish i actually thought it was an Ultra. This has become my favorite guitar

I love everything about this guitar, from the locking tuners to the V6 rotary switch. The 12 inch radius neck feels more like a Gibson than a fender, the sonic variety from the special electronics let you get sounds from classic vendor to beefier Gibson tones. The quality of this MIM guitar is comparable to every American stray I have played without the heftier price! I bout this guitar when they first released them a few years ago, before the price skyrocketed and I am glad I did! Do yourself a favor and try this guitar out!

Wonderful sound, easy to play

Beginner guitar player here. I went to Guitar Center to try the Yamaha FS800 but ended up liking this Fender CD60-S so much better. It has a rich, deep and clear sound, stays in tune, and the narrow fretboard makes it easy to play if you have small hands. Honestly I like this even better than the much more expensive Seagull that I first borrowed to learn on. My guitar teacher even commented on how nice it sounds. And at this price, I don't have to constantly worry about it being damaged or scratched. Just an all-around great guitar. I absolutely love it.
