Nile Rodgers has composed, produced and performed on a number of albums that has totaled more than 500 million sales worldwide. Each tube he produced has one essential element in common: the old 1960 Fender Stratocaster Hardtail that Nile bought from an instrument store in Miami. Few of the guitars are inseparable from their owner; the Hitmaker is one of them. The Hitmaker features a 1960-style alder body, which is a bit smaller and streamlined than a standard vintage Strat. The beautiful Olympic White varnish matches the finish that Nile himself applied to the guitar just after buying it, at the start of Chic. The custom '59 profile neck, made from a single piece of maple, features a 9.5 ”(241mm) radius fingerboard, medium jumbo frets and a satin finish. A ”Nile Rodgers & Chic” logo adorns the back of the headstock and a custom Hitmaker logo is embossed on the neck mounting plate. The Nile Rodgers Hitmaker Single Coil Strat pickups are set up to accurately reproduce the snap and bright sound of the original Hitmaker. The guitar also features a through-string bridge with a fixed tailpiece. It comes in a vintage style case featuring a Hitmaker embroidered interior. It is also accompanied by a certificate of authenticity.
