Acclaimed guitarist Ritchie Blackmore has been creating memorable guitar riffs for decades. His deft phrasing, fleet-fingered picking, and unmistakable tone have helped make the phrase "guitar solo" a household term. The Fender Ritchie Blackmore Signature Stratocaster is based on his favorite '70s model and has a maple neck with a graduated scalloped rosewood fretboard, Seymour Duncan Quarter Pound Flat pickups, and '70s-style "F" tuners. Just like Richie's Strat, the guitar's middle pickup has been replaced with a non-working dummy pickup. Deluxe gig bag included.

I was a little hesitant about ordering this Strat sight unseen and a MIM one to boot. But when I opened the box I was just amazed at the fit and finish, The neck..etc..It did need a full set up , But what guitar does not ? All in all a Great guitar , And it rocks too... Pick ups sound good... Took no time at all to get used to the Scallops.. I like them , Not difficult to play at all...

I just cant stand when Fender puts out a Tribute signature guitar and on some models they do a great job like the new DAVE Murray strat, but then like this model it looks like Fender just wanted to make money off Ritchie's name instead of building a guitar to pay him tribute. But I think they were just looking to make money period. I had my Blackmore Modified to the specs of John Dawk Stillwell's mods and now this is truly what a Tribute the man in black .

I bought brand new in 1997 the Blackmore strat. I have 14 years of use on it so I would say I'm qualified to rate it. Blackmore is without question in the top five of all rock guitarists in rock n roll history. I'm a huge fan of Purple and Rainbow so when this came out I had to have it.The guitar is awesome but not perfect. The sound is a 10! The seymour duncan pickups are very hot and I get great harminics and a true blackmore tone. I had to adjust the PUPs higher and get a set up....after that the guitar sounded incredible. The scalloped fret board is very well done and verye asy to play and get used to. Well done!I had two qulaity problems. The neck pick up 2 times had to be re-screwed because the spring popped out. A bigger problem is one time when bending a piece of the frets came up which needed a repair. Both issues were not very expensive. The fit and finish is very good, but not american built quality.Overall, a bit pricey for a japanese strat and now mexican strat. However the guitar is very well done and it plays fantastics. Although the fit and finish is not up to the american standard, the sounds you get from this guitar is....it is a very hot guitar.Message to fender -- Make an American made Blackmore strat and keep it in the $2000 range.Bottom-line: Recommended strongly...a great guitar.

I have been playing about 35 years, from the age of 15. Blackmore has always been an idol form me, and a chance to town a bit of the Blackmore vibe was irresistable. I am not sure about the person who said the guitar was "horrible," except that coming right out of the box, the factory setup was terrible. But what guitar comes out of the box in perfect playing condition. Word of warning, the guitar will need setup. Also, everything I have read has said the nut is set too high, and that was the case with mind. I took the guitar to my guitar tech and had the nut filed down and the intonation and neck set. After that, WOW! The pickups are powerful and remind me of P90s. There are two. Also, everything I have read has said the nut is set too high, and that was the case with mind. I took the guitar to my guitar tech and had the nut filed down and the intonation and neck set. After that, WOW! The pickups are powerful and remind me of P90s. There are two. The middle pickup is a dummy pickup, as Blackmore only uses the neck and bridge positions. Expect some of the normal single coil "buzz" when distorting your signal. The real surprise is the middle position with the bridge and neck pickup. It is noice cancelling, and very smooth. In fact, this guitar sounds wonderful clean, and tends to sound best through natural distortions. The neck is why I bought the guitar, as the partial scallop allows you to move fast and furiously on the upper strings, while the lower E A D strings for the most part are unscalloped, which keeps barre chords better in tune. The tremolo is a standard type. As I don't use tremelo at all, I had the bridge set flat. The guitar comes with straplocks, and Fender does not send along the hardware to allow you to attach a strap. I whined and complained to the dealer, who let me have a set for free. The overall workmanship is really good. When I took it in for the setup, I was told that the fretwork was extremely well done, and it was well constructed. The frets are a little rough, but as far as height and level, they need no adjusting. Overall, I am extremely please. Again, remember you will have to have the guitar set up. Whatever "factory set up" is, it is pretty bad. And remember, the guitar was made in Mexico, shipped to California, and then sent to you, eigher delivered to your door or bought at a store, so it will need work, usually a 35 to 40 dollar investment. Once the guitar is setup, however, it plays extrememly well.

I have to admit that the looks of this axe really caught my eye just seductively lounging on the rack, ( Not to mention the fact that it was the only strat in the entire store!) There was also another guitar I tried and possibly may have bought but as soon as I tried out this strat, I never looked back. Right away the neck felt like it was the perfect size, not too bulky, or too thin, just right. If there ever was a one-size fits all neck this would be a close contender. The scalloped frets took just a few seconds to adjust to but it is really great for doing fast daredevil licks and riffing with ease. The frets were well constructed with even lengths and no sharp ends. The frets were well constructed with even lengths and no sharp ends. I plugged it into a Blackstar HT-5r head & cab (which I also later bought, a match made in heaven) and the tone was IMMACULATELY MASSIVE. (Thank you seymour duncan!) The tone shines playing chimey cleans strats are known for, while retaining heavy overdrive/crunch, or anywhere in between. All the pickups sing without being harsh or overly bright. It stays pretty well in tune just fine despite what any troll tells you even without a Floyd Rose Tremelo bar. A versatile one, this! The only thing that bothered me is that the top and bottom strings were set a little too close to the end of the neck and would sometimes veer off if you did rapid pull-offs, but with the right set-up that can be fixed. Other than that, I was sold. So just for the sound, neck ,and value alone, all-around 5/5. Party on! - Wabba

SD Quarter Pound Pickups Rock
14 March 2014

The first thing that blew me away when I plugged this guitar in to my Blackstar amp was the hot sound of the seymour duncan quarter pound pickups. Those imo are the main thing that make this guitar what it is. Again, it needed alot of setup work and fine tuning by my local guitar tech including lowering the strings, etc. The biggest challenge of this guitar is changing the way you play with the scalloped frets - the strings will bend alot more than on a regular fretboard, making the guitar sound out of tune if you press or bend too far. A different mind set to play - but worth it in the end imo

Great if you've got longer fingers. Once I got this guitar set up properly, it was awesome! It did take some tweaking though. The neck was slightly out of alinement.

The Sleeper of the Decade !!
12 April 2016

This Blackmore Stratocaster is definitely the sleeper of the decade! If you were ever mildly interested in the infamous "scalloped neck", this guitar is definitely worth checking out. This style of neck is used by Ritchie Blackmore and Yngwie Malmsteen, and Fender has put out two great signature models, one for each respectively. I wanted to share some insight with the Fender Ritchie Blackmore model I recently purchased.I was very apprehensive about a guitar like this, as the word "scalloped neck" was intimidating. However, this neck is efficiently scalloped only where it counts, as the lower frets seem like there is none, while the scallop gradually increases up to the higher registers. However, this neck is efficiently scalloped only where it counts, as the lower frets seem like there is none, while the scallop gradually increases up to the higher registers. The neck is super easy to adjust to, and offers the best of both worlds; effortless open chord playing, and all out shredding. The electronics is also unique but straight forward, featuring only two high-output Seymore Duncan pickups, and a three position pickup slide switch. The switching is virtually Gibson, position one= lead pickup, middle= both pickups, position three= neck pickup. This combination gives the guitar a welcomed alternative to the typical Stratocaster voicings, as it can sound smoky for blues (neck pickup), scream all out rock (bridge pickup), and even evoke country with both pickups.Although, I am extremely satisfied and have purchased many fine instruments and accessories at Musiciansfriend, I unfortunately did not purchase this guitar there. However, I wanted to alert potential Musicianfriends' customers, this guitar offers so much more than just a scalloped neck, as it is so versatile, literally two guitars in one - A Fender Stratocaster with the feel and electronics of a Gibson

I hesitated because I know Ritchie used to destroy Mexican Strats in concert so it was weird he would have a signature made in Mexico. But I fell for it and I am really 100% happy. This was the fastest MS delivery ever (the next day to Belgium!!!), it arrived in perfect condition. The guitar itself is gorgeous, no need to dwell on existing reviews. I love the double single coils and dummy and the scallopped FB is really a first for me, so easy to play. It comes with flush mounted locks all included in the package. It seems MS also set it up because it came ... in tune with perfect action etc. All in all a top quality/price ratio and my advice is: Ritchie fan or not, this is a Strat that rivals US models I have had so BUY IT.
