This light would get 5 stars but for a couple of control issues. I surprisingly have experienced that the lock function (two successive button depressions) was apparently too easy to defeat after having found the light turned on in my pocket on more than one occasion, and of course after draining the battery significantly before being discovered. It's not clear if perhaps keys (all on the same keychain) might have somehow interfered with the button while moving around, walking or just sitting, but that looks like the only explanation. I don't have a good suggestion for a solution either - perhaps a raised ring of material around the button might help, or a more lengthy or different lock/unlock command. I don't have a good suggestion for a solution either - perhaps a raised ring of material around the button might help, or a more lengthy or different lock/unlock command. I'm not alone in experiencing this issue having read other reviews. Next, I believe some sort of "memory" function, (i.e. , having the light turn on in its last operational mode) at minimum with regard to light color if not intensity level, should be used. Red light is often used to preserve night vision, and always having to first activate a while light before getting red light is highly detrimental to this common need. A memory would turn the lamp on in the last mode selected, and at least would provide a means of having the light remain in red mode each time the unit is turned on and off. Another minor annoyance is that, when using the lock feature, the lamp both confirms a locked state (two flashes, white light), and when initially activated from a locked state - in low mode white light rather than eco mode. For one thing, this is inconsistent with operation in an unlocked state, which always initiates in eco mode white light. Again, this is minor, but annoying - as there is no way to avoid a relatively bright white light when one may wish to preserve night vision. It is always easy to add brightness from the lowest level if one wants a bright light quickly. But if one wants only low light, having to cycle through the brightest output available is likely an impairment to the situation. Here again, a "memory" function of some kind might help. Simply starting the "unlocked" sequence in eco would be an improvement.

I purchased a Fenix TK12 more than 10 yrs ago and it has been the best flashlight I've ever owned. A couple of weeks ago I received my EO3R V2.0 and I love it! For a tiny keychain light it's super bright on the highest setting and it's light as a feather. The one switch control is intuitive and easy to navigate. I chose the blue and it looks amazing. To all the reviewer's who wrote that it turns on by itself the lockout info is noted in 3 different places; it's in the description online, it's in the instructions you receive, and it's even on the light! If you've never owned a Fenix product than try this affordable keychain light and you'll be a Fenix Fan forever. The E03R v2 is my third Fenix flashlight. I tend bar and always need a flashlight for dark nooks and cupboards. I use my flashlight constantly. My Fenix lights have been great. Tough and long lasting. The E03R v2 is not only a little smaller than I expected, but even brighter on its highest setting! The four brightness modes are helpful for different situations, and I've really appreciated the red light at night. The only critique I have is that I wish there was a switch to lock it in either 'On' or 'OFF' since I keep it in my pocket with a bunch of other things and have had a couple accidental turn-ons. Regardless, I'm extremely impressed with the power to size and the durability. Now I need to save up for one of the Fenix headlamps.

Fenix lights are the ONLY lights I buy. This light seemed to be awesome at first. Nice design, nice price, multiple modes, etc. BARELY ever used as part of my EDC. I charge all my items every few months to make sure they donβt fail when I need them. The battery indicator was red, so I began to charge it. When the indicator turned green I unplugged it. The green indicator light remained on and would not turn off. The white light only cycled through TWO outputs instead of the normal four. I tried plugging it in again, but no change. Lockout mechanism doesnβt work either. EXTREMELY disappointed in this light. Of course itβs out of warranty now, but thatβs how it goes sometimes.
This is a very good flashlight. Its high beam is amazing. I really wish it didnβt have the red flashlight however. It doesnβt add to the value. In fact, it makes it a little more complicated to use. It is way too easy to accidentally turn on the red light, unless you are very accurate at 0.5 second presses of the button, instead of 1.2 seconds. I am also disappointed that Fenix didnβt let me know that they just came out with a brighter, and more importantly longer battery life. And for only $2 more. Not a good move if you want to keep customers. Still, in all fairness, Fenix makes some extraordinary flashlights, but they should concentrate on making them easy to get to all modes, and standardizing there charging ports.
Bright, feature rich, but not really for a minimalist, but great size if wanting something bright for edc and don't like a dedicated edc pocket light. I have a dedicated single c123 edc light, so this is kind of redundant.Had this on on a set of Ram keys with a fob which is already bulky to begin with, so adding this makes it almost fill my pocket. I usually pair my fobs with a NiteIze Radiant Microlight which is very compact, but wanted something brighter just in case, so I bought this. Although this is much brighter, it's also much larger compared to the Radiant, so it basically sits on a set of spare keys now. If my car's key fob was smaller, I could see using this more, but since the fob is already so bulking, I really can't find a good use for it. I could see if you hated stuff in your front pockets, you could put this on a carabiner and have it hang down in your back pocket from a belt loop which is how I used to carry my keys before buying a Ram and having an extra bulky fob
Iβve recently tried several rechargeable keychain lights. Many of the most popular make/models.The E03R fits the bill better than most. The UI is simple and intuitive, nothing complicated to remember. Red light is a plus and the low is just low enough-if anything it could be lower. The βpulseβ mode comes in surprisingly handy. Just stayed in an unfamiliar hotel and the pulse mode made for easy locating and orientation.Size and shape works better than expected. Nestles right up against a key fob and worked better than a round light.
Nice long burn time at 500L! Nicely constructed & anodized. Love its flat shape - no pocket bulge, no rolling, & with a thin ferrous metal plate glued to bottom, neodymium magnets on a money clip mount it to my hat brim for a headlight(see video). The flush switch button is hard to locate by feel in dark or with gloves on- recessed would be better. Battery level indicator is very nice! One button essentially has 4 functions, depending on how long you hold it. I am learning to get the timing right, with red sometimes coming on when I wanted the white beam. A raised button with a distinctive click is an advantage there(as Nitecore TIP SE has), making the Lockout function critical. The EO3R is my current favorite keychain light! Solid output, construction, battery life and worthy for my EDC collection. The output is exactly as stated as is always the case with the Fenix products. The battery life surprised me. I tested it in three of its modes. All three lasted longer than advertised in the specs. The price was right since I bought it on sale. Still would have been right at regular price. So nice I bought two more as gifts for family the day I received the first one.I would expect no less from Fenix. I will be buying two more for friends once I post this review. This is a keeper. FYI: I bought v2.
I've owned the previous v1 model of the E03R keychain flashlight and the new v2.0 model. Overall, I love the form factor of this flashlight and readily use the red light in dark situations. BUT, with the v2 I repeatedly and continually take my keys out of my pocket and discover the light is ON; or I take it out to use it and the battery is dead because it's been on in my pocket. The change in the v2 to a 3-second press to unlock clearly gets activated in my pocket pushed up against keys or change or whatever. This important thing for me is this never ever happened with the v1 flashlight. Because of this v2 unlock/on button problem and repeated dead flashlight when I need to use it, I've gone back to using the v1 version on my keychain.
