For some reason the flashlight came with two 4000mAh batteries, not 5000mAh, like other reviewers have mentioned. Well, to be honest, I've seen that in the description, but still cannot understand why it has been downgraded this way, maybe to make it cheaper or because of lack of 5000mAh batteries. That's probably the only issue, that I noticed so far and it's not a deal breaker anyway, since I've already purchased several 5000mAh batteries from the same web site for another 3100Lm tactical flashlight and always keep these spares charged. I saw a very important advice in one review - turn the head 90 degrees counter clockwise to physically disconnect the batteries and exclude a sudden activation of this flashlight when you carry it in a bag or pocket or just keeping ... MoreFor some reason the flashlight came with two 4000mAh batteries, not 5000mAh, like other reviewers have mentioned. I saw a very important advice in one review - turn the head 90 degrees counter clockwise to physically disconnect the batteries and exclude a sudden activation of this flashlight when you carry it in a bag or pocket or just keeping on a desk. Pretty good advice, because this flashlight can really burn something and cause a fire in a split second, can damage eyes so a person can be seriously injured with no way back, etc. The lock functionality is good, but I'd say it's not enough, a mechanical security works better if we simply disconnect the batteries by slightly twisting the head off by 90 degrees. Also when it returns from the lock status it starts with minimal brightness, which is not bad, rather safer, but sometimes it would be better if it recalled its last power mode if we need it back on as quickly as possible. The flashlight is reasonably heavy, but not too much for such a powerful device. Almost called it toy, but it's definitely not a toy, rather a strong source of light, that can damage if one is not very careful with it. Do not give it to children, because it's simply deadly dangerous and not only for eyes. As other reviewers noticed, the flashlight gets too hot, but this is expected too, just be warned and be extremely careful with it to avoid fire and/or serious injuries.

I have done extensive research on which lights to buy, and I was recommended this brand by a neighbor who always uses their headlamps. All of my research is backed up by the Fenix LR35R and the 4 others I own from them!I wanted a light that was powerful enough to be a searchlight when I needed it, but small enough so it was not uncomfortably big to carry around. I do have a smaller EDC (everyday carry) that I use from Fenix and a headlamp, but I get this bad boy out when I really need some light. I have used it for various tasks like inspecting, seeing basically as far as I need to in the fields, night walks, to even propping this light up in a tree and using it as a work flood/spotlight!Fenix is always out to help its customers. Fortunately, I have had zero issues regarding any of my lights or questions I have had for their staff! To conclude my review, if you are looking for something that has the capability to be so bright it puts most any lights you've seen to shame but still want that compact size (the head is the same thickness as an 8.4oz redbull can, and the overall height of the lights is the same height of the 8.4oz redbull can) this is the light for you. This light easily lights up a tree line about 100 yards away from me and the field in between. The lumen output is out of this world, and it is not even the most powerful light they offer! The build quality is superb, including the high-quality metal and the ergonomics of this light are excellent. An absolute recommendation from me to anyone is to buy this light or any other they offer!

I would give this torch 5 out of 5 for its capabilities and build quality. The reason that it is so amazing is also the reason that it isn't a perfect light for everyone; it gets very hot, very quickly, when in the highest "turbo" mode.It could literally be used to warm very cold hands in winter though, which could be a plus. The brightness is such that it would more than qualify as a tactical light - lighting areas to near daylight appearance, or in a defensive scenario, to blind or disorient an attacker long enough to make your next move. The build is excellent, with smooth edges all around and a copper button rather than the typical plastic or rubber covered button that would usually wear out or tear with repeated use.The wrist strap is nice, thick, and I think ... MoreI would give this torch 5 out of 5 for its capabilities and build quality. The build is excellent, with smooth edges all around and a copper button rather than the typical plastic or rubber covered button that would usually wear out or tear with repeated use.The wrist strap is nice, thick, and I think accented with actual leather. The relative compact size, especially for this amount of power, makes it very handy so you can also hold other items - possibly other tactical items - at the same time; you can carry it easily enough without being overencumbered. This compactness is one of the reasons that it will run so hot at the higher settings, with less surface area to disperse heat. The run time is actually stated to be fairly long since the handle holds two of the biggest and highest capacity torch batteries available, although I wouldn't want to time it on turbo mode and push the led, the electronics and batteries to their limits.All-in-all one of the most powerful lights for its size that you're likely to find, especially at this price... or any price possibly. It definitely will be the perfect light for some people, and a good thing to have on hand "just in case" for the rest of us.Well done Fenix!

Great Brand & Amazing Light!

This was my first nice light. I had been using Coast brand for many years and they were always good. It was time to upgrade though. The lr35r is the perfect light for my needs. It's not going to be perfect for everyone so some will complain. I love the floody beam that still has some reach. The two 21700 cells last me many nights before getting even half way discharged. They also charge quickly. No special proprietary batteries here! Output on turbo is fantastic and it drops down to high slowly and smoothly. It can hold around 3000 lumens for over an hour. I usually run it on about 3/5 and that's plenty. Don't just look at max lumens. Look at how long it can run and at what level. Fenix does good with long runtimes and high output. I tested (totally not by accident) the drop test rating. Three feet onto solid concrete... OMG, my precious! And, it was totally fine. It barely scuffed the steel bezel. Customer service is also top notch. I think the light was the perfect decision... and a gateway drug! I now own another lr35r, a ht18 and a lr80r. Someone stop this madness!!!!

I want to give it a 6 star on some levels, such as brightness, price however two categories irked me a bit after one week of use (heavy at times including during daylight… as I use it illuminate a concrete mixer drum during the day)… and by night when I’m walking my dogs on the trails in the BIG WOODS (ie., deer , bear etc plenty)The ergonomics are awkward and the on/off is hindered in the dark (meaning it’s dark out and unless you practice… you’ll fumble to find switch). And the second point I deducted a star is how it’s presented in the home page. Without going on a long diatribe, I can tell you that it is extremely bright however, I found through using that being ELEVATED helps the experience as it covers a wider range. It's a good light. Not up to Fenix quality
1 August 2023

Dropped it once from 3 ft and one led doesn't work. It still is a great light for night stand. Holds a charge for months and still has full or near full battery. Great light but not as durable as normal Fenix products. Also you gotta watch out the button is easy to accidentally press in your cargo pocket. I had it in a cargo side pocket of pants and it looked like it was on fire glowing with the light melted a hole in the whole pocket of work pants. One of the few lights I probably wouldn't buy again. I have many of their products but the one button alternating through so many modes, a more fragile feel, and the weird shape I thought I'd like just makes it way too easy to accidentally press the button if you don't remember to put it in safety lockout mode.

LR35R Real Life Review
15 May 2023

At first glance holding it in my hands, it's smaller than I thought it would be and also heavier than anticipated. But overall it feels good in my hand as typical with Fenix Flashlights, it fit good in my hand without gloves and for the most part with gloves on. I live and work in Southern California, Orange County so if I want to get out into the wilderness I need to travel at least 2 hours (min.) to get out to nature. With that said I live in a concrete jungle, and that is the reflection of this review. The LR35R is a super bright, super wide LED Flashlight, but for those who need to know, a not so deep light. With that said I live in a concrete jungle, and that is the reflection of this review. The LR35R is a super bright, super wide LED Flashlight, but for those who need to know, a not so deep light. I could see this being a great light for the occasional Urban Search & Rescue person. Someone who has the LR35R in their backpack for that one special purpose of Search & Rescue of a person. Other than that realistically I don't see a real purpose for this light.Great range of Lumen output from 50 lumens to 10,000 lumens, Sturdy clip to attach the light to almost anything and/or application. Camping, backpacking, beach outing, Grunion Run at the beach. Flip out this light to resolve almost any night time application. The one real drawback is when this light is on anything above Med setting it gets HOT!!!!, hot enough not to hold for any period of time. Having the strobe setting at 10,000 lumens can be seen for miles, reflecting off of the surrounding trees or cliff side to bring greater attention to your surroundings and increase the chances of being found. Running on 50 lumens for 80 hours could be a definite lifesaver. Attach a lanyard to this light and carry it around your neck, use as a self defense flash on strobe in the attackers face will blind anyone, long enough to get away or disable the attacker. Heavy enough to swing and launch this light against another person would do some incredible damage. But I guess in the end, you would have to be in a more rural state or have that undeniable urge to be in the great outdoors to use this light effectively. Six LED's and an actual glass front lens with an all aluminum body makes this light indestructible against the elements.

This LR35R is awesome. I bought a PD35 in 2015 and have used it a lot. That little guy is great for so many things. BUT ....I wanted something with more light and wider beam. I came back to Fenix and selected the LR35R. HUGE output from a smallish, lightweight, comfortable-in-your-palm device. You want to light up a space like your basement when bulb blew, backyard at night or an entire alley ? This will do it. Easy to use the different output settings and love the charge port (something my older fenix didnt have). Totally recommend Fenix and this unit.

Nice and bright
5 January 2024

Just recieved an L35R flashlight and two 3000 mA-Hr Li batteries. Quality appears to be first rate. Used on my nightly walk of about 45 min and the light runs at "high" brightness for the full length of my walk without dimming. Gets a tad bit warm up front, but the body where it is being held remains nice and cool. I use the high setting because when pointed (indirectly) at oncoming cars with their super bright LED lights, this flashlight is bright enough to engage their autodimming circuits. Controls are easy to use and switches crisp and positive. Also have a spare set of batteries and the two position Fenix charger so I always have a charged set of batteries.
