This is the FIRST Fenix light that I can say I have a bit of ambivalence to. I have 8 of their tac lights, going back to 2014, so I love the brand. But this light......well, it's a bit unwieldy.I've watched plenty of YouTuber videos that warned me about this light, and how LARGE, it is! 😳 But, until you hold it, you really have no idea. It's like holding an old-school Maglite, but it's short, like my tac lights. It's NOT for a small-hand person. (I have larger hands)The pros? It's BEASTLY! In Turbo mode, it does EXACTLY what you want it to do! And I haven't been able to use it yet, in a really dark area! The cons? I'm not sure what the application is, here, other than maybe SAR, but, it's too awkward for law enforcement or private security. I'm used to ... I'm used to baton-style flashlights, (until I started buying the tac lights Fenix makes) and, while this does feel like that, in the hand, the stubbiness, in that it's SO SHORT, feels strange. And then there's the WEIGHT!

I've been collecting flashlights a long time and have many top brands. Of all those, Fenix is my favorite brand. Their reliability and their durability are the best of any flashlight I've ever used. And when I say used, I mean used in an industrial setting, day in and day out. These are very well engineered flashlights. The buttons are always intuitive and easy to learn. They don't get too hot when you use them, even on higher settings.Specifically on the LR50R, I really like the size. It fits my hand perfectly. It's not too heavy and even has a strap, if you need it. The brightness levels cycle from the humble 50 lumens all the way up to a retina scorching 12,000 lumens. Turning the Turbo off and on is a one click process and doesn't affect your regular brightness setting. I like that feature. I have never had a flashlight with the auto dimming feature, but as flashlights get brighter and hotter, that seems like a smart thing to do.My only real complaint was that the instructions are written so tiny, that I could not even read them with a magnifying glass. I had to go online and find an instruction manual and make it big enough to read. Not a big deal, but everything should come with instructions that are in a normal, readable size. That little gripe aside, I am very pleased with this flashlight.

This is a great flashlight if you want something with tremendous candlepower. The flashlight itself weighs just over two pounds and has shock resistance of one meter - so for this reason I always carry this light with the shoulder strap over my shoulder. - For something like police work this light would be too bulky to be practical. I gave this light five stars for its incredible candlepower as well as the ability to select five other light levels. - The eco-level will run for 58 hours on a fully charged battery. The "Turbo" Level is the 12,000 candlepower setting and it, of course, will not run for nearly as long, but is nice to have if needed.

We live on five acres with no security lights outside. This light is used when our outdoor dog “warns” us of intruders, either two or four legged. Since our large barn is at one end of our property and our house is at the other, we NEEDED a bright light to take a look. Perfect light! The beam will actually light clear down our long driveway to the State highway!
I have been using Fenix flashlights for about 7 years. My first larger one was a TK75. I still have this incredible light and it is one of the best lights I have ever owned. I recently purchased this past month 2 new Fenix lights. The LR50R was one of them. This is a serious upgrade to the T-75, with up to 12,000 lumens. This light has a rugged and well built feel to it. It's hefty and durable and made for the woods and mountains. The amount of light that this unit throws has to be seen to be fully appreciated. It is beyond bright! The buttons are laid out well! Sometimes these high end lights have an confusing set of algorithms and are hard to use, or remember. This light is very straightforward in this respect. As a survival piece of equipment, it has everything you would want. i.e. long battery life, especially at the lower settings, very strong water proofing, and made out of strong materials. I love flashlights:-) This looks like it will be the finest one I have ever bought so far. I have no negative comments to share. Buy one!

And then there's the WEIGHT! 😳 I understand completely WHY there's a shoulder-strap. It's HEAVY!Anyway, I've given it 4-stars, because of the Fenix name, and brand. And the fact that the throw on this, is immense, certainly in Turbo mode (which is WHY I bought it), but it doesn't get 5 stars from me, not like the other lights I've purchased. I'm not sure I'll be using it much, when I'm patrolling. I'll need to find another use for it, though, at 300 bucks.
I have several Fenix lights including one that has been discontinued and have absolutely no problems with any of them, and I still use all of them. I use different lights for different purposes, mostly outdoor activities. The LR50R is no exception. The 12k lumens is extremely bright and travels far making it easy to locate my dog when he’s roaming my property at night. I sometimes use this light through the moon roof on my 4Runner to augment my off road lights. I use the shoulder strap which is quite durable and easy to adjust for the amount of layers I’m wearing. The controls are easy to use with or without gloves. I like having instant access to the turbo mode. Great battery life for the amount of power this light puts out. I was looking for a flashlight with a good flood for our backyard. My wife takes the dog out in the mornings before work. I am usually already gone by this point. We live in the country, so it gets really dark. Using the Turbo setting is a huge time saver. Our backyard is roughly 3/4 of an acre. It tackles this with no problem. Also, I purchased her a Fenix HMR 65R that she loves for walking the trash can down the road. I will probably take this LR50R out west hunting for the campsite. Fenix is top quality.
I wanted a searchlight that would be versatile and I got it with this. The fixed remote control searchlight on my boat went out and I decided to take a chance on this as a replacement. I got a Ram clamp mount that will go on a railing on the boat, a short arm and a ball mount that goes into the tripod mount on the light. Now I have a fixed light on the boat that is easy to move or re-direct as needed. And it works on the rails of my center console boat too. Guess what, the same setup attaches to the roll cage on my Kawasaki Mule, eliminating the need to buy an LED light bar for it. I just clamp it on and point it forward and it turns night into day. It works just fine as a handheld light too and I got another ball mount that goes on the bed rail of my Jeep ... MoreI wanted a searchlight that would be versatile and I got it with this. My only concern with this light is that everybody who sees it falls in love with it and wants it. I have to guard it carefully. It truly is one light that, when paired with the RAM mount, goes anywhere and does anything. Yes, it costs a bit, but it is far less than buying dedicated lights for every place I use this one.
Probably a removable handle would be a great addition, although the flashlight itself is great, powerful enough to make a car headlight pretty negligible, comparing to this flashlight. The diameter of the flashlight tube is too large even for my huge hand, but I used to use it with a strap over my shoulder. In this case the buttons are located under the flashlight and I used to find and press them. What I don't like is the bright illuminated around the very bright dot in the middle. If I'd like to point the flashlight to some remote object the entire area around it gets illuminated. So it's impossible to illuminate only the object I want to.
