This thing is amazing. So gentle on clothes. I put nearly everything in and it always comes out perfect. Steam fresh is a great feature for wool suit pants that you can't dry clean all the time. Also does a great job on cotton business shirts. You could just get away with not ironing for everyday use. Activewear setting is also great! Doesn't shrink. Highly recommend.

When the Fisher & Paykel 9kg Heat Pump Dryer was delivered it was simple to unpack and light enough for one person to move into its spot in the laundry. Once out of the box I was surprised at how compact the unit was, especially compared to the bulk of our 10kg washer. It’s a smart-looking appliance, with a sleek modern control panel that appeared easy to use, particularly given the vast array of drying options on offer. I opened the dryer door and inside found various accessories, hoses and instruction booklets. Going against my better judgement as a bloke, I decided to look at the instruction books to help with the install. Going against my better judgement as a bloke, I decided to look at the instruction books to help with the install. Due to our laundry being on the small side we had to site the dryer perpendicular to the washer (rather than side-by-side), and alas I found the inlet hose supplied wouldn’t reach, meaning a trip to Bunnings to buy a longer water hose. Hardly the fault of F&P, but does every household laundry have room to sit the appliances next to each other? So, thirty or so dollars later and I was home with a 2m water inlet hose and the dryer was soon ready to go. It certainly can swallow a load of clothes! I just kept feeding them in, and like a black hole it just gobbled them up. Operating the dryer was a piece of cake – I just set it to the ‘Everyday’ cycle and off it went. We are not one of these families who separates whites and fluffys. There is certainly a huge array of options for those that care about their delicates and woollens, but we always just chuck it all in together and hope for the best. To me it’s like buying a car with paddle-shift gears and adjustable suspension settings. You play with them for the first week or so, then you just leave everything set to ‘auto’. Life’s complicated enough, thank you very much. The dryer turns water from the damp clothes into steam and holds it in a built-in storage tank, to be emptied after each cycle. I was surprised how much water was collected - proof of how well the dryer works. I decided to extend the hose supplied with the appliance and feed it into the sink, rather than use the tank. F&P actually recommends using the hose to avoid the possibility of flooding the laundry (if the tank isn’t emptied), but as with the inlet hose this outlet hose was too short for us, so a simple modification was needed. It seems to work a treat, and now there’s no tank to worry about. The machine runs very quietly and smoothly, and as expected it dries to perfection. The clothes seem to be far less wrinkly than they were in our old dryer, and it’s so nice to fit in a full load of washing at once, compared to 2 dryer loads in the old machine. Although the dryer has a myriad of features, probably the best-selling point is its energy efficiency. It has a rating of 10 stars, and for me, knowing it is so energy efficient, there’s little guilt of using the dryer when, with a bit more effort, I could hang the clothes on the line. So overall it’s a very clever and efficient dryer, which is easy to use and should give many years of trouble-free service.

Love this dryer! Having had an energy sucking, condensation producing dryer previously, I was wary about including one in my newly renovated laundry. However, this dryer has welcome innovations from dryers of days gone by. Specifically, it doesn't produce condensation on the laundry walls! It also has many settings for various materials / items. I often use the "Everyday" function, but the specific setting for towels and sheets means that they actually come out fluffy and dry, rather than being all tied up together. Also absolutely love that it makes my busy life easier to manage, as I trust that it won't shrink our clothes. Love it.

The previous dryer we owned was over 25 years old so what a treat to upgrade to this dryer! We have a bosch front loader but the matching dryer did not get good reviews so decided to purchase this model after reading loads of reviews. Wow, so impressed with how it dries clothes - no condensation in the laundry, the drain connects to the sink and dries clothes quite quickly ie a load of towels from wet to fully dry takes about 1.5 hours. Love the ease of use by using the screen prompts. I usually read the instruction manual from front to back but did not need to with this appliance. The only thing I was not aware of when purchasing this dryer is in order for the steam care function to work it needs to connect to the cold tap. The only thing I was not aware of when purchasing this dryer is in order for the steam care function to work it needs to connect to the cold tap. A Y junction is provided with the dryer but this was the wrong fitting to share with the washing machine and also the hose provided was too short so we had to buy a longer hose and converter for the junction. Even though we do not have the matching F&P washing machine we would still have had these connection issues we believe.
The size at the price is a huge plus but It doesnt dry all items well. When drying your wet clothes from the washing machine it does perfectly fine but when youve got a bed sheet it takes forever to dry as the sheet balls up, I think this is due to the drum only spinning in one direction. Ive tried tying knots on either ends on the sheet to stop it from balling but that hasnt worked, using dryer balls also doesnt help better not to use them when youre drying bedding. Also when youve partly dried your clothes on the good old hills hoist and throw it in the drier the sensors arent good at picking up thats your clothes are already partially dry and doesnt end up fully drying them Best to set it on a timer for damp clothes.
I like the variety of choice on cycles and find the Sports mode very handy as I have 3 grown children who all play sport and go to gym.I also like the shirt, towel and sheet cycles. I don't use the drying rack as much as I thought I would as you can only put one garment in at a time and I think that's very time poor and inefficient energy use. The manual is very brief and does not go into detail about the way of using this cycle IF there is another way of using the rack and drying more delicate items together. I don't like the filter at the bottom of the unit as the dryer sits on the floor and it is very hard to open it up. The clips holding the filter are also very stiff and and hard to turn and I almost always break or bend back my nails.I would also prefer a ... MoreI like the variety of choice on cycles and find the Sports mode very handy as I have 3 grown children who all play sport and go to gym.I also like the shirt, towel and sheet cycles. However, I think it is supposed to have a sensor for determining the wash load. The initial dryer I received was faulty only I was unsure if the noise it made was normal or not as I had never used Heat Pump technology before. After a few weeks and with the dryer seemingly getting noisier, I decided to contact Fisher & Paykel requesting a technician come and check it. Turns out the fan was faulty. He told me this was not the first new unit he'd had in recent weeks with the same problem and there had been a supplier change on this part. He advised that he would be back in a week with the replacement part. I never heard back from him and around 8 days later I contacted Fisher & Paykel who advised the parts would not be available for another 3-4 weeks. I said that this was totally unacceptable for a brand new unit and that they should replace the whole dryer immediately. After a few days they got back to me agreeing to replace the dryer. The new unit is still a little noisier than I expected but I think it's the way it should be.
Packaged like a King, and dries like one too! Easy to set up I quickly put it to the test with a bunch of work shirts. Selecting the ‘Delicates’ option it was fast and importantly for me, extremely quiet! I hate ironing so was keen to try out the Steam Refresh option and the creases were practically all gone, finishing them off with an iron took less than half the time it normally would! WIN! If you want a Super Computer doing your drying, this certainly is it! It looks awesome, its quiet, super efficient, and helps you out with your ironing!!! You can even download other cycles via the app or shout at Google Assistant to start/stop the drying as you see fit! Admittedly, I'm no dryer expert, but this one has to be at the top of its game. The drier itself seems to work OK, although a couple of times on "Auto" mode it has stopped when the clothes are still wet, and we haven't been able to work out why. We purchased the "Graphite" model, along with the matching washing machine, as we intended to stack them. The GG salesperson said stacking was no problem and wanted to sell us a generic rubber mat to put between them. On unpacking the drier, the instructions said that a "stacking kit" was required, and that the units were not to be stacked in any other way. Ordered the stacking kit in July, still waiting for it in November. To their credit, F&P did send a white kit in the interim. The kit requires you to screw into the metal case of your brand-new washing machine too- so be prepared for that! I upgraded from my vented dryer that was on its last legs and have been so happy with the F&P 9kg Heat Pump dryer. No more wet, damp walls and drying time is great and allows me to do dry multiple loads a day for our family of 5. I had read some negative reviews about Pump Dyers but I couldn't be happier with mine. It was expensive, but I have already used it more times in a week than I did in a month for my old useless dryer and wish I had splurged on one years ago. We were lucky enough to have a floor drain just in front of the dryer space so no need to even empty the water as the tube fits down to the drain for fuss free water drainage. Filter easy to clean and lots of different settings for all types of clothing, auto works to completely dry every time. Very happy.
This dryer is just amazing. We should have bought one year's ago. It does everything they say and more.Dries quickly and for a fraction of the electricity costs. No noise, no steamy laundry,no fuss. If you're thinking about buying a dryer buy one of these now. You won't be disappointed. It's worth the extra money. You'll save it in no time.
