Excellent Washer Dryer Combo

This is our first front loader and given we were moving from a house with a large laundry to a Town House with a "laundry nook" we decided that a washer dryer combo would be best for the space we had. We decided that this Fisher & Paykel model would be the best value for us. We've only had it for a 3 weeks and only about a dozen washes but it has produced excellent results. We mainly use the wash cycle and hang the washing out and the high spin cycle of 1400 rpm allows the clothes to dry quickly and easily. We've only used the wash / dry cycle once for a full set of queen sized bedsheets and pillow cases due to wet weather - just set it up to work after 10pm when power is cheap and all was done for us in the morning. Can't say anything about the long term reliability ... MoreThis is our first front loader and given we were moving from a house with a large laundry to a Town House with a "laundry nook" we decided that a washer dryer combo would be best for the space we had. The company is excellent. I bought through them before and the installation guys were excellent. Helpful and respectful. They helped a lot and were so patient with me. What I don’t like is the machine smells. It stinks to be honest. I can smell the plastic smell during the drying function. But I’ve read other reviews who mention the same and it dissipates over time. The machine is excellent; super quiet and very good at washing and drying. Just the smell.

I got this washer/dryer (partly) because I liked the idea of coming home to a finished wash. General clothes etc are ok but sheets and towels are terrible. Sheets because they are a crumpled mess which need extra drying and towels because they take too long - seven hours. Thankfully I hadn’t got rid of my other dryer because I sometimes use that instead. The manual says it is supposed to be used as a wash/dry and to minimise washing only, but it would need to be a lot better for me to do that. So would I buy it knowing what I do now - no. Especially given the price. Hopefully in a few years the technology will be better, the concept is good, this machine just isn’t that great.

Great Machine
16 May 2021

Bought this machine as a replacement for a Fisher + Paykel top loader which was over 15 years old and still going strong as well as the basic clothes dryer of the same age. Have a small laundry and took the opportunity when this one on special to purchase one. I have not regretted it. After 3 months use I am loving it. The clothes come out cleaner but it is a more gentle machine. I never used my dryer a lot as it steamed up our older house but the dryer is so quiet and a condenser dryer so it is perfect for towels etc. Yes, it takes longer to do a wash and dry cycle but end result is worth it. Only problem I had was with sheets because they were still a little damp in the centre but nothing a throw over the clothes horse didn’t solve. Read the direction book for advice on washing different items. If you have pet washing, wash something like towels afterwards and it cleans any stray pet hairs before you add black or dark clothes. But 5 stars from me.

Great until it just stops working
20 January 2023

I like it functionality wise but it just keeps breaking!! I've had it for almost 3 years now and it just breaks and breaks and breaks. After a couple months it just stops drying properly and you have to run the dry cycle 2-3 times to get it to actually dry. Getting it serviced is also a pain because it takes weeks to schedule a service person and then the guys that come try to blame you with everything under the sun to tell you it's your fault. I should clean my clothes BEFORE I wash them (what?), I shouldn't use the dryer so often, my detergent must be bad, It does work and I'm just wrong about it not drying, I should clean the inside more (I run the drum clean much more frequently than it says to) etc Eventually they realise that the drying component has just ... MoreI like it functionality wise but it just keeps breaking!! At this point I use the dryer only when I absolutely have to after days of rain and I really need to do a load of laundry and can't hang it outside but it has broken down yet again and I just can't be bothered to put in all the effort of trying to get it serviced AGAIN. Also it does annoy me that it supposedly self-flushes the lint so you don't have to clean it out yourself except this definitely does not work because whenever the service guys come they have to unclog the lint draining pipe (which does not fix the dryer btw). I would much rather just be able to clean out the lint myself so that I know it's working but you can't because you have to pull apart the whole machine to get to the pipe. Anyway I will be buying myself a different machine I'm so sick of having this one break on me.

Love this machine

This machine is amazing, it has great features and options to customise your wash by being able to adjust water temp, spin speed or just use one of the handy presets. I love that I can put in a load of washing, select everyday and dry, and 3 hours later its all washed and dry and ready to fold and put away, nothing comes out over-wrinkled. The delay start feature is great and allows the machine to be set to do it's cycle on the cheap electricity times (using the electricity plan we are on). I tend to keep my loads slightly smaller than with my previous washer to allow for the slightly smaller drying capacity than my previous dryer but I haven't found this to be a problem and everything comes out dry so can't fault it. Love this machine!
7 December 2022

We bought this at very short notice because we wanted a washer/dryer combo. We live in Perth and needed it to take the last bit of damp off clothes and towels that have been line-drying in winter, because we were sick of having clothes hanging inside at night. A separate dryer wasnt an option because we have a very small laundry. We are so happy we chose this machine. It washes better than our previous (more expensive) machine and even though the drying capacity is very small, it suits our use perfectly. The only improvement I would suggest it to allow drying times shorter than 30mins. But thats really just nit-picking.

Quiet and effective dryer

What we likeVery quiet. Would hardly know the spin cycle is active. Loudest phase is the water fillClothes come out as dry as selected. What we do not likeMaximum start delay is 12 hours. Main use of delayed start is to take advantage of peak solar power the following day. Very disappointed
8 May 2021

Was excited to buy this combo machine due to space saving and lots of good reviews. Previously had F&P top loader which was amazing. Do not buy this machine if you are after a quick wash or dry cycle. Wash cycles range from 30mins to 245hrs You cannot adjust time of cycles either. Why a machine needs 2hrs time to do a load of washing l dont know. The 30 min wash leaves white marks all over your clothes despite changing liquid washing brands / amounts etc....l am still encountering same problem. The dry cycle is terrible takes for ever up to 5hrs. I do not have that time for washing, and the safety lock prevents you from being able to retrieve your clothes any sooner as machine says "too hot" and will not open. So do not get if your after speedy washing and drying. ... MoreWas excited to buy this combo machine due to space saving and lots of good reviews. Previously had F&P top loader which was amazing. Very happy with purchase.

I read over 100 reviews before buying. Ignore the comments about the weird smell and not drying properly. The first day the machine smelled weird. Followed the instructions and ran an empty wash load before doing anything. Whole laundry smelled weird. Then first actual load was a wash and try towel load. Everything was 100% dry. There was a faint weird smell on the towels. Then second actual load was clothes. No hint of a weird smell. So two practice loads (one empty and one towels) and the weird smell phase was over with in under 24 hours.I normally use the everyday wash only cycle and it takes about an hour. Put in laundry detergent, push power button, turn knob back one to 'everyday', hit start. If you want to do a wash and dry cycle do you make it say dry instead of wash The answer was when you want the wash and dry option you click the button until both wash and dry are selected instead of just one of them.Hopefully this helps someone reading as many reviews as I did.
