brilliant build quality and the adjustment from 2 mtrs to 4 mtrs is what makes this piece of equipment so useful. The blades will slice thru "Thumb size" branches quite easily but at 4 mtrs full length it can be tough on the arms for the casual gardener but the cutter works well. The mechanism of the cutter is also far superior to the tree loppers that have a side lever or saw and also the additional length means that standing on step ladders is also reduced. A very good design is the cutting blade which is on a ratchet so you can adjust the angle which allows you to see the blade and position exactly where you want to cut using the orange blade guide, an excellent design feature. It does require frequent changing of the extended length when working on a larger tree ... Personally it was very cost effective to invest in this cutter for my two garden trees as I had been quoted 480 for pruning one tree and that was cutting it very low rather than pruning & shaping the top 2 metre thinner branches to a nice level & shape. take care if you use step ladders and remember that when fully extended the weight can unbalance you. Overall an excellent design, build quality and operation.

Initially had some doubts as to whether this would deal with stems up to 32mm, but having used it for some tree pruning, I have been pleasantly surprised by how easily it deals with quite thick branches. I haven't chanced it at 32mm yet, but can believe that it would manage it.The extending shaft allows access to the higher branches and the orange guide adjacent to the cutter helps you to put it in the right place. It's got a bit of weight to it, which suggests that it will last, but does mean that when extended it takes a bit of controlling. Nevertheless, it does the job very well and I'd rather have to manage the weight than have a lightweight tool that falls apart.

Superbly powerful cutter. Light in weight making it easy to use even at full extension. One issue is that the bright orange finger that is used to help locate a branch, is very soft and flexible and after using on one hedge, is now bent out of shape. Would have been better made from metal and painted orange. The cutter can be operated from either the sliding handle or the knob on the very end of the shaft. The knob is less easy to use and I would prefer a rigid handhold instead.

My Pohutukawa tree was getting a bit high. With this I was able to reach the tops. At full length 4m it can be a little difficult to see where you are but I found by trimming some low branches first it became easier to see. It easily slices through branches up to 20-25mm but even though larger ones up to 32mm as advertised will fit in the cutting jaws I found it tough to cut those. Maybe not strong enough now :(Being able to angle to the cutting head from vertical to horizontal is a great idea for branches that a vertical.Tools is quite light and appears to be well made and strong.
Well manufactured tool with adjustable excellent long reach. Easy to use and cutting action relatively simple to operate. Soft guide on one blade tip somewhat useless as in a short while it had become severed. Did not affect use though. The pull operation at base of tool does not stay within the tool when not used. Hence no 5 star rating. Its the only part of the tool that really needed to be better engineered.
Last year pruning my fruit trees, I was climbing ever higher up my trees and I thought, why. Why am I up so high doing a balancing act on thin limbs waiting for them to snap, there had to be a better way. So what do you do, go on the Bunnings website and have a look. I decided on the Fiskars PowergearX Telescopic Tree Pruner as they have a good name and I also chose the one with the longest telescopic length.I could not wait till the next winter so I could use my new pruner, so I found other jobs for it to do. You do not have to use it just to trim trees, you can use it in the garden to cut at ground level; it saves your back by not bending over all the time, which is fine by me as I have a bad back. Then came time to try it on the fruit trees. I was so happy I did not have to climb any-more trees. I had only two trees to really prune back hard this year, but they were never pruned before it seemed and it took me a full month to prune both fruit trees; and I did not have to leave the ground once. If I needed to get the higher branch, I just extended the arm, and cut the branch off easily. The Fiskars PowergearX Telescopic Tree Pruner was easy to use and I would buy it again no worries. After I use it, I just put a bit of grease on the blade and chain and put it away for the next time, easy. It was a good buy that pruner. If you have a fruit tree to prune and it is a bit high off the ground, get one of these, it will do the job no worries
The Fiskars tree pruner enables pruning of overhead small branches without any climbing necessary. I am fast approaching 70 and and active widow with a large garden. I do what I can myself. The tool is light and easy to use, however it is a little bit longer than I would like as I am quite short. I haven't yet mastered how to cut fenceline branches and have them all end up on my side of the fence. As gardeners get older ladders should be avoided. This is a great gift for older gardeners to save them from themselves.
I bought this 2 weeks ago and used it today for the first time. Very impressed with the head. My old once use a rope gear system on the head which gets tangled up, which is very frustrating. The extension system works well. It cuts well and clean closed to the main branch. It took a fraction of time, without frustration, and I could cut higher branches, then with my old loppers.
I bought this pruner to lop off the top couple of meters of my 7-8 meter tall bamboo. There may be cheaper versions out there but the huge advantage of the Fiskars is the pull cord is contained with in the extension pole. An external pull rope and multiple ropes near the cutting blades would easily get tangled in the bamboo branches. The simple but brilliant idea of a bright orange plastic piece near the cutting blades made it easy to see the cutting blades 5 or 6 meters up in the bamboo.
Pretty decent but you need to not bite off more than it can chew. The build is good for small cuts up to 1.5cm, but beyond that, it struggles. The head tilting mechanism I found wouldn't hold if pushed up against when working in a tree and would change the angle of the cut. After some use, just domestic, the internal cord broke rendering it useless. I tried to open it up to fix it but that was not easily done so it went to the landfill... ;(
