Fiskars Powerlever Extendable Tree Pruner, 7ft to 14ft - Orange Black

The oval-shaped fiberglass pole is light enough, sturdy and rigid enough to handle easily even when fully extended and working from a ladder. The saw blade is sharp and the bolt onto which the wing nut threads resists unscrewing enough to hold the blade securely on the pole without getting loose during use. When using the pruning lopper tool it is important not to try to cut any branches thicker than about an inch or so or the blade is likely to get stuck in the branch. I found that if that happened I was able to push and pull the pole and wiggle it until the blade eventually freed itself. I have used the tool on only one tree so far and it has functioned very well.

I had a 10 foot version of this that had some age on it. I needed something a little longer and saw this 14 foot unit on sale so I bought it. I liked the extra length, liked the system to lock in the lengths. It cut limbs well. Downside were: 1. the wing nut was impossible to screw off by hand and I had to use vise grips to remove it to put on the blade. 2. you can not store or use the unit without the blade facing upwards, my old unit can be reversed out of the way when not needed. 3. the pull rope is thinner and when using it the rope gets caught around the blade, around the upper mechanisms and it will not allow you to operate the cutting blade so you have to bring it down from the tree and manually untangle it. I'm very satisfied with this tool. The Fiskars pole saw takes little effort to operate. I have an electric pole saw, but it's too much work to get it down, add oil, add the extension cord, and adjust the chain when I only have small branches up high to trim. I have two giant live oak trees that often need a simple clean up. This one is obviously lighter than my electric pole saw, so it's easier to maneuver and requires little effort for the small cuts. The telescopic handle tightens up easily. It has a good reach and is not top heavy when the pole is extended like my electric pole saw.The store pickup process was quick with no issues.

Cheaper than hiring an arborist

2 different saw positions, would've liked a steeper angle option. Cordage was already frayed before 1st use. (From the saw) Couldnt see it in the packaging. Will likely have to replace. Worked well for shmedium branches. Much cheaper option than an arborist. Blade was very sharp. Plastic packaging is more dangerous than the blade. Wear gloves when opening package

Decent Tree Pruner for the Money

I was hesitant to purchase this after reading several negative reviews. I'm guessing that people who had this break tried to use the lopper on branches that were too thick? I had no issues and used the lopper and saw to trim branches that filled two large green waste bins. The specs state that the lopper can only cut branches 1.1/8" thick. The saw is decent as well and I used that for thicker branches. It's not a heavy duty trimmer but for light trimming it's a great tool for the price.

Good for very snall limbs only

This was disappointing purchase. I have had 2 pole saws in the past. Both more expensive at the time of purchase. Loaned one to a friend who never returned it and moved. My brother borrowed the second one so i bought a 3rd one to save time rather than drive 2 hours to retrieve it. This has a shorter reach. It has an oval shaped pole that locks in position with a pin. This is an improvement and is more rigid. The lopper cutter is smaller, now for the really bad part. The package claims to cut 2 times faster. Faster than what? The old saw blade was based on a Japanese pull saw razor tooth blade that cut very qickly. The nes saw cuts slower with much more effort. The pole is a big improvement but the blade makes so difficult ti cut as to be almost usless. I will be getting my older saw back very soon. All 3 Home Depot pole saws instock carried the same blade. I suspect made by the same manufactureer. Not recomended.

Helped extend my reach

I needed to prune some branches out of my reach, and ladder climbing wasn't an option.PROs: The pole extended to the length I needed. The saw was useful for branches too big to lop. Great price for a tool I won't need to use that often. I like it!CONs: The bolt that holds the movable lopper blade worked its way loose after lopping several branches. Easy to retighten. The cord was very "stretchy", which made it harder to cut some thicker branches. Excess cord length was sometimes in the way.

Not what expected as seen on advertisement

The knife blade doesn’t do its job, cut 0 job! The spring is not hooked well and tight! The screws on both sides for the saw blade are not stable to hold the zig-zag saw blade that after few pull and push on the branch, the screw was loose and the zig-zag saw blade was also loose! Over all, can’t use both of the knife and saw blades. The safe is not there either because the spring fell off cannot easily with no affects, the screws turn loose and cannot hold the saw blade. However, it’s lightweight.

nice tool, but I got a used one!!!

This pruner is HUGE! I'm a fairly short person (5'2")... and it was a tad overwhelming, but... it was pretty easy to use... the instructions aren't very explicit, though I didn't really know how to use it when it arrived; however, there's a great video on the Home Depot website as well as YouTube, in regards to how it's used - very helpful! I must say, there's a LOT of string attached to it, so you can clip branches (so much string, I can't even get a grip on the handle that's attached to the string at the end LOL)... I used that function almost immediately... Cuts extremely easy! Took out those hanging branches on my roof in a jiffy! This particular pruner is also very lightweight very nice - this made it very easy to handle. My only issue was... I was sent a used ... MoreThis pruner is HUGE! A store return or something... my pruner was all scratched up, blade seems a little warped, handle was scratched and worn... the wing nut that holds the blade was nicked and the paint was worn off and it appears to be stripped because it wasn't replaced properly... good thing I have spare nuts and bolts and tools lying around.... after a few minutes, I had to together, but come on, Home Depot!!! Who's picking these orders! Why would you pick up the store return one that's been repackaged very poorly, as an item for delivery??? It doesn't affect the use of the pruner, but it's the principle of sending a damaged product to a customer... shame, shame, SHAME on you, Home Depot! This is the second time that I've had something delivered from your store and ended up with a slightly damaged product... where is the quality control when you're picking your orders, hello??? it's a good thing I'm not that picky...
