A Little Disapointed
Top-notch customer service & delivery as always. I am giving only 3 stars because of the bag design. The straps that make the bag both a tote and a small backpack can't be adjusted long enough to suit an adult body. I am 5'7 and relatively thin, and once the bag is filled up, I struggle to get it on and it's extremly tight and uncomfortable. I love the concept but it feels like a kid's backpack unfortunately. I also own a standard mini Re-Kanken, which is in my view a far better option if you are looking for a mini backpack to carry around (enough room and straps are longer to suit all body types).... Best Purse Replacement
To stay active during the pandemic, I have been taking walks in nature, biking, and hiking like it's my job throughout Upstate, NY. My purse was cumbersome and weighed one shoulder down on all my adventures. I have a Deuter day pack, which is great for bigger hikes, but feels bulky on a two-five mile walk. So I decided to get a backpack big enough for a water bottle, an extra layer, my wallet, maybe a book, and a snack. After reading and watching lots of reviews, I settled on the Fjallraven Kanken Mini. First of all, I love the company--they value long-lasting products and sustainability. Since it arrived a few weeks ago, I have done a several fairly strenuous hikes, biked 12 miles (on a super hot day), taken numerous long walks, and visited the grocery store a few ... Since it arrived a few weeks ago, I have done a several fairly strenuous hikes, biked 12 miles (on a super hot day), taken numerous long walks, and visited the grocery store a few times. The bag is the perfect size for all the things I wanted to cary. It's very light weight and though it says it's water repellant, it sure seems waterproof to me. When it's not raining, I fold back the rain guard on the zipper so it's easier to get in and out quickly. There are a few things I might change about the bag to make it absolutely perfect. The outside pockets are the perfect size for a phone and a granola bar, but my water bottle needs to go in the main compartment. It would be great to make at least one of the outside pockets large enough for even a small water bottle, but it's not the biggest deal. I'd also add velcro or a zipper to those side pockets. On a few occasions, I've leaned over and my phone slipped out. Lastly, on the straps, there is a hard spot near the snaps that get caught on my clothes. I know they sell covers for the straps, but it would be nice to either include those, or smooth down that part of the strap so they are not necessary. All in all, I adore this bag and hope to have it for many years to come!... Disappointed in Quality
I was disappointed in the thin fabric on the back. The “seat cushion” was a square of packing foam that they put a sticker on to say “this is you handy back pad and seat cushion”…without the sticker one would think it’s meant to me thrown away because it literally looks like packing material. With the “cushion” in you have no use of the inner pocket in the main compartment either. I was really excited to get this bag (I’ve been eyeing it for years) but I was so disappointed in the design shortcuts that were likely taken for cost cutting, I just returned it. I have a North Face mini Berkeley pack that is amazing so I plan to stick to that.... Show more

Love Kankens!
I have the regular size Kanken totepack and I love it. I was excited to see the new mini. It still fits a lot and works great as an everyday purse/bag. I love the backpack straps and although there is an extra step to lengthen them (compared to the regular size), I do not find it too much trouble. I also found that when the straps are lengthened to use as a backpack I can still quickly switch to using the tote straps since the adjustment buckles act as stoppers for the straps and the additional length just stays on the back of the bag. The front pocket is a little on the small side, but still very useful for small quick access items. Such a great bag. I want to get more colours!... Show more

Lovely bag
2 years agoI love it! I have it ox red and it's a gorgeous color. It can fit my standard size ipad with its case, along with my usual purse essentials. I wish this bag was a bit bigger so the front pocket can fit my iphone SE (2020). But I will just use it to hold my smaller trinkets instead. Love the zipper on top for easy access to my stuff. The straps when worn as a backpack are very comfortable, but as a shoulder bag - not so much. The plastic adjusters get in the way and kind of sticks out at the bottom when the straps are pulled out all the way. But overall a great little bag. I was afraid it would be too small but the size is perfect. I highly recommend it.... Show more

lovely colors, relatively bad foe your back
Great colors, love the size, but poor for comfort. I just use this for small things (wouldn't put too many things inside as the straps have no support and just dig into your skin if not wearing thick enough layers i.e. shirt and sweatshirt together). Got the lavendae color and I adore the color. What's the saying? Beauty is pain? Yea, describes this backpack well lol... Show more

Roomier than you'd think
I have several Kanken backpacks in different sizes. I have started to carry the Mini Kanken full-time as my work bag and my Everyday. This is due to the great design and the ease of carry .The Mini as you can see holds a good amount of essentials. I use pouches in it to stay organized. I remove the seat cushions in my minis to make room the back pocket. That back pocket keeps my full size journal and pencil case. The main compartment holds my makeup, wallet, coin case, Rx pouch, and water bottle and snack bars. I am a teacher and I like a rugged bag that can take being put on the floor by my desk, or tossed in the car for a quick errand, or hauled with all my stuff to a staff meeting. On field trips it is unbeatable - hands are free. On my frame the straps are ... MoreI have several Kanken backpacks in different sizes. I am 5'9 180 lbs.I recently bought this Re-Kanken to support my efforts at being greener, and because I appreciate the embroidered tonal emblem in place of the bright red- on- cream patch of the other models. It looks more "grown up" and I feel I can take it into places without looking like I'm carrying a student's backpack. The fabric of the Re-Kanken is softer than the waxed canvas models, and the color Dark Olive is a beautiful shade of brown- an olive brown to be sure, not green.I am very happy I purchased this Kanken and recommend it with no reservation....
